At least he's a UFA next year.

If we trade Flip we aren't going to get much in return. Yes Detroit needs help but it is going to take at least two or three years to rebuild/reload.

Not sure but with his down year you have to wonder how much he is worth in the long-run since it is obvious we won't be getting that #1 D-Man for a while.

IMO he is worth $3 Million at the most and with his performance as of late that is being generous.

Correct but there is a point where they get too over-riped in the minors and need to come up to the majors. The Winner! -Not having a post-Lidstrom sucession plan in place. Honorable Mentions -Franzen vs. Hossa -Uwe Krupp debacle. -Not getting more Defensive Depth when you knew Lidstrom was going to retire in a few years. -The Jimmy Carson Trade. Border Line (I couldn't decide if they should go) -Robert Lang trade. There are a lot of factors that went to this one including A. The Fact he was leading the league in scoring at the time B. The 2009 Cap mess etc.

Glad to see the Wings fighting along. I am sick of hearing from my friends who are bandwagon Hawks fans about how Detroit sucks in general.

It depends how much Howard wants. With the way he's been playing as of late I'd let him walk unless he wanted less than $3 million per year.

As much as I like that pairing I would like to see the Wings get another top-2 D-Man. We have around $19 Million freed up with 15 guys signed for next year even though we are going to need to re-sign Howard for sure and if Brunner keeps it up he will need to be re-signed.

I like this pick up. While yes he could use some work on the Defensive side of the puck he will be something special IMO if he can keep improving.

Even though I am from Chicago I will be sticking with the Wings. I have rooted for the Wings since 1997 and I will continue to. I HATE the Hawks by the way.

I am back here now that the season has started. While I missed last night's game (out with friends) I will say this where was the Offense?

I think there is a 50/50 chance it could happen. With a 48 game season it really changes the dynamic of things.

I'd go for it because Gary Bettman has stunded the growth of this game. The NHL had so much going for it in terms of the future and now that's killed. With that being said this lockout affects hockey as a whole not just the NHL since with the growing popularity of the NHL that helped hockey in general because you had people get interested in it and would either watch it or go to games e.g. minor league games etc.

He's on the money here to be honest about it. It was refreshing to hear someone else's perspective who ISN'T an owner or a player.

Well even if Uncle Gary the Clown hasn't cancelled yet the players could still use it as leverage. What I think will happen is that they will get some sort of agreement done by November 1st.
