I guess the "GET THE RED OUT" campaign had nothing to do with Detroit and everything to do with getting out of the negative... I also hope that the liberals out there that think that taking money from the rich and "spreading the wealth" is a good thing, think of that in the hockey sense. All it does is penalize the successful to reward the less than .... Why should the Red Wings support the Preds, Stars, Coyotes, Columbus ect. All it does is make a successful organization worse by subsidizing a rival team. Its no different than a phone company having to provide infrastructure to competitors at a loss (see SBC having to rent physical phone lines to Sprint and many others at an operating loss in order to make them competitive). In the end it doesnt make for better hockey. It makes for closer hockey. The bad thing is that the closer hockey is all mediocre because the best that is available in this type of system is spread out to 30 teams, Parity looks to make the league average and they are doing a wonderful job at it.

I think the last one may actually have a shot at being worn on ice. Its the best of everything and nails the looks vintage but its a brand new design aspect. Very good work

In a way I agree, our uni is more or less original as it is and is IMO one of the best unis in the league. Good design is hard to improve on and the longetivity of ours is testament to that. On the other hand, The Classic is a time to have fun and tip your hat to the golden days of Hockey. Its the same reason rockabilly guys and girls dress like they are out of the 50s. They dont dress it exactly but its more or less a modern interpretation of the past. Watching the Caps, Pit and Philly play was like watching them in their regulars. They are so new that the teams havent had that much time to really do any facelifts on the logos. That was a bit boring. I hope the sweaters include all of the classic and important design aspects of the team over the decades and I think these renderings are a very good interpretation of what that could be.

I like the first design best. However Id like to see it with the Original logo, maroon of the second rendering and the number only on the back. Also the White could be a bit more ivory like the Rangers uni was last year. More or less take the second rendering and add in the shoulder detail of the first plus an ivory color instead of bleached white.

IF Nicky retires (lets hope not) Id like to see C-Pavs (I know he doesnt speak a lick of English, Engrish or any other form of intellible language that we in the states understand) He has an amazing work ethic, Is a lifelong Red Wing, Intelligent and is looked up to by everyone including other Superstars. Not winning the cup, Going to the Cup. Also if things work out this year, there is ~3:1 chance that a bottom seeder is in the Cup (assuming my math is right and Im not a great mathematician) Parity started at the lock out in its present form. The last two years have been where pre lockout contracts have ended for the most part and cap space salaries are now the norm. As such it looks like being a team that is in playoff mode from Feburary on are more likely to do well come the real playoffs. Seems weird but that actually looks like how it is playing out.

Well, now that Boston is scheduling hotels for vacation instead of for Round 2, I noticed that there is a definite trend at hand here. Since parity, anyone has a chance it seems and as such bottom seeders have been fighting tooth and nail for at least a month and a half just trying to get a spot in the post season. Those on the top half, save for Detroit in particular, never really had a worry about getting in. The Detroit situation actually clarified it even further. It appears we are going to see more and more of these type of post seasons as the years go on. Resting up for the playoffs is great, being in playoff mode for half a season is a whole different thing and has you better equipped to make it through the first and probably the second round. Im actually thinking that it may be better for a team in general to be a good road team and also on the bad half of the seeding due to what is more or less a post-season training session. I dont know if I really like the possibilty of it but chances are in the 3:1 range that a #6-#8 seed will make it to the cup on a regular basis. Like it or not, it appears that this may very well be the case going forward. Is this parities intent? Not only making it closer competition points wise but also to bring crappy teams to the top by salary cap? Please tell me Im crazy and this is an aberration and not how the NHL is statisically going to turn into. Obviously the Blues are the massive outlier on the trend line and they also have a great shot of winning but overall it looks like the prospect of not making the playoffs is going to be a bigger part of the post season success equation then it ever has before.

Since I havent seen a trade or transaction from Holland (of real importance) in the last few years its a tough call. Pre Cap Holland vs Stevie? Holland no doubt. Now? Too many what ifs as to why Holland let this season go bust. Maybe he was waiting for natural attrition due to retirement and didnt want to handcuff himself with mid-length contracts for expensive yet average players. Stevie has had two years to roll a team and managed the best Canadians in the Olympics which didnt have a cap. The more I think about it, Holland. I just wish I knew why he is doing certain things.

Anyone that thinks Brad Stuart (I wont grace him with a nickname) deserves anything more than a D is blind or high on drugs. I may sound like a tin-foiler but I seriously think he was trying to throw games. I also expect a negative 5 or more. He played like Ericcson did last year only we know how he usually plays. We also know that hes in the pocket of SJ right now and wouldnt surprise me if a juicier contract would be offered if we lost here and there. He skated away from pucks, let forwards skate past him without challenging them and flat out played at 50%. Unless he has a broken foo,t he was sandbagging and/or throwing games. STUART- J-

We need Suter like I need the next Megamillions Mega jackpot. He was like a one man shooting lane wrecking crew against us. His stick was the wrecking ball of our scoring chances. We need him more than we need Parise but we need both to get the full effect against any team for the next 5-6 years.

This year was a weird one. I figured the Wings were gonna fizzle out soon. That left me with rooting AGAINST teams. Since I hate SJ more than I want us to win, tonight was a wonderful evening. I got to watch the Guppies tank for 22 years in a row. If you live in my area and follow hockey you have to hear about the Sharks. I hate the Sharks and the sooner they were gone the happier I am. Well Im pretty damn happy. DIE GUPPIES!!!!!!

2 Girls No Cup ^^^

Im 6'6" and 220, I can definitely hold my own. I make the way out there with my 63 yr old dad and we have had to handle s*** TWICE in the parking lot across from the train station. Both times the Wings lost and we are walking back to the truck surrounded be screaming Guppie fans. First time a guy did the shoulder bump from behind into my pops and that guy got a broken nose only for us to have to deal with 4 other guys and everyone bloody. Second time we had three guys yelling in our faces and we told them to get the f*** out of our way and the mouthiest one said, "Or what"? That again ended in a full on fist fight and that ******* will not forget it since he lost a tooth in the scrum. I am thankful for the police because at Game 1 of the playoffs last year we were cornered by probably 7 guys and the cops saved us. I think we would have been kicked to death against them. We went to one more this year and after that Padre decided that its best we dont go to the games because we are a target and hes getting too old. If my brother wasnt a baby maker and broke we'd be fine at games but as a twosome thats outmatched, we dont go anymore. Ive only been there and Phoenix for Wings games. The Coyotes fans are damn cool and never said a damn thing, win or lose. Id love to spend a week in Detroit for a homestand and so my dad could see his childhood home but its just too expensive to do that trip. Maybe you guys can take up a collection so my pops can go see Highland Park again, as bad as it probably is.

Truthfully, if it wasnt for where I live Id be just like you. Ive had beer thrown at me, food tossed at my dad and have been in two post game altercations AFTER WE LOST at the Choke Tank. We sit on the home side to watch 2 periods of shots on San Jose so maybe we are picking bad seats but Ive never been to a more unwelcoming building. For what its worth thats fine. they love their team but I find more pleasure thinking of those piece of s*** fans and that sinking feeling of loss more than the pleasure of us winning. Ive watched our team win A LOT. They havent seen it at all so I see it as some type of passive aggressive revenge on those assholes. Im sure there are a few people in Vancouver that get that same treatment being Kawks fans, being a Flyer fan in the Pit ect. Its personal to me and I hope most dont have to deal with such classy fans. I didnt take your post as some personal attack on me, I just didnt like being questioned for my loyalty like that, if it was a question of my loyalty at all.

I see what your saying but Im also sure you havent had the pleasure of being assaulted in SJ. Padre has decided not to go to anymore games there because hes too old to deal with brawls. Being heckled for having a Redwings sticker on my truck in traffic, being told I suck when I am at the store wearing a Wings T shirt or my hat.. Yeah I am way happier to see those people all broken up their team lost. Im secure enough in my allegiance to the team that I feel comfortable saying that. Its like a guy wearing pink. I wont but some guys are secure enough in their sexuality that they can do it without feeling ***. I also dont need to prove myself to anyone so whats the deal? You a super better fan than me? Ok fine you are. Ill still root for the Wings. Hell, I chose the colors of my business logo because Im a wings fan and drive a red truck for the same reason. Philly is a great team. So are the Blues. That would be quite a final show. The stingiest D vs what can only be unbelieavable Scoring by the Bullies. I do agree that the Socialist system that is the Cap era makes for some rather lame hockey. If we could buy in whomever we wished we would probably have won almost every cup since the lockout. Is it fair? No. Do I give two s***s about fair? Absolutely not. It really does act the same way it would be if the government took your business license if you spent over 2 mil a year in advertising. You think Geico would do that well if they had to curtail the commercials? That is NHL hockey right now My thoughts exactly.
