There are some very masochistic people in here,,, Why cant I be happy that the team I hate most lost? I even said that I wanted them to lose more than I wanted us to win. They have a streak rivaled by few in the NHL and I am pleased to see them extend it as long as possible. Wings_Dynasty thats for you. I think we have 6 legs to stand on compared to the Sharks in the Cant make it to the Cup record. Ill be happy when Vancouver, Pitt and Chicago are out as well. I will say the same things about these teams as well and feel no need at all to check myself because our team choked it all to hell too. I refuse to beat myself up, hang my head low and concede that I gotta keep my mouth shut about other teams. By that thinking if Im happy with the winner of the cup this year and say BYE BYE to the loser, I gotta stay quiet because they went farther than we did So Ill stick to it and once again say SUCK IT GUPPIES

#5 Philadelphia Flyers vs. #4 Pittsburgh Penguins

Im waiting for the demise of Vancouver.... Just gonna have to wait a bit longer for the demise of the Snow Chickens. How sweet itll be when they blow the full wad in Pitt in front of their adoring fans. Flyers lost on purpose just to get the hopes up of the Pitt faithful -
I hate to say this but it has become apparent that Mr Babcock has probably just worn out his welcome. The stats say that other than a select few head coaches, such as Scotty, coaches tenured longer than 4 years dont win cups. Looks as though that may be true with Babs as well. Came to mind talking with Crimson about the team and became very apparent that our guys just dont hear him the same way anymore. The players have a personal relationship with Babs the same way teenagers have with their parents. Both know that even if they get yelled at they know that the consequences are pretty hollow. The rest of the time they just dont care. We all know that some organizations tend to replace coaches on a daily basis, we arent the Canadians or the Leafs, but look how effective it was with STL. Hitch came in and it was night and day from word go. I seriously think that we need leadership more than we need a new team. The talent is there, the coaches are there to coax it from them and Babs & Co. just dont seem to be able to do that.

Time to start looking for a new coaching staff
Cali-Wing-Nut replied to Cali-Wing-Nut's topic in General
and may I ask how much more time he needs? We havent gone three rounds in 3 years and have gotten worse each year since. No there is no guarantee just like everything else in life, but that doesnt mean it shouldntbe done. By your thinking there no reason to trade or draft anyone either because there isnt a guarantee that those people will perform any better than who they replaced. Thats a lose philosophy that I will never get on board with. Accepting the status quo is the road to defeat in life and Ill bet MY life on it. Doesnt just include hockey, thats life in general. Losers just go along with whatever is happening and randomly complain while acheivers find a way to always succeed, regardless of the risks. I hope you arent anywhere near the decision making of ANYTHING cause its bound to fail by your ethos alone. -

The facts speak for themselves... Aged Coaches dont win cups, unless your name is the holy trinity I mean Scotty Bowman. Everyone talks about the unmotivated players on the team and how they have to go and gloss over the reasons they arent crushing skulls and scoring goals.. I was one of those people that wasnt living up to "their potential" and it had more to do with s*** coaches or teachers than my will to succeed. How many of you have had s*** managers and you still came in fired up to do a good job? No you ALL did your 9-5 and left. As long as you showed up and went through the motions until Friday to get your paycheck, you did it. A lot of you are doing it right now. I know the team isnt stupid, they may be a bit unmotivated by the game plan. I wonder if any of them are questioning the plays and making it known they are ineffective by pointing out the flaws first hand. Perfect example is the PP. I can only imagine the disbelief and utter regret when they were told about the NEW PP strategy. Id phone it in too if I was told I had to follow such a retarded game plan. Ive thought this through long enough and have come to the conclusion that the team is built on a few too many players and that leadership is lacking and affecting the ranks. Please dont question my cognitive abilities though, its incendiary and adds nothing other that useless fodder for arguments that have nothing to do with my original post. -

Quite the optimist? Our special teams are the laughing stock of the whole NHL. If we give them a chance to see their "potential" Im gonna look for a new sport to watch in the winter, snow shoeing is pretty exciting compared to our power play.. -

I dont think bigger gets you urgency. We have played like slugs compared to other teams in other series. Maybe your right the Mike is pissed and hasnt put his heart into the way he would with a team he wants. So where is the answer? We get a new GM and a new D. Does Franzen and Z wake up and start producing again? We are back to the same common denominator and that is Babs. -

I didnt say Babs is bad at all. Actually I think he is one of the best Coaches of all time. I did say our team just isnt listening to him the same way anymore. Thats a problem and there are two ways to fix it. 1. Gut the team so they all have a new coach 2. Get a new coach so our exisiting team has a new coach. Seems choice 2 is cheaper and possibly more effective. -

Well I guess youre right. If we get a new team and keep Babs it works out the same way -

Gotta ask, is there any chatter about a new special teams coach? I find it hard to swallow that the guys that used to dominate the PP cant get it done. I blame it on the stupid umbrella PP. It was joke at the start of the season and for some reason theyve stuck with it. Just hoping for greener pastures come next season. -

Can Z hold onto a puck? I swear he lets them go more than anyone especially swinging around the back of the net -

My DVR didnt record so I missed the first period.. Can anyone give a brief synopsis of the game up to know? How we doing? -
1) GET POINTS IN THE PAINT-- We need to crash and we need to bang the s*** out of the puck in front of the crease 2) STAY OUT OF THE BOX- I know its hard to do this considering the disparity in penalties but the less time we are short handed the more time we are 5 on 5 where we shine. 3) MINIMIZE TURNOVERS OF OF LAME PASSES-- We have be caught quite a few times passing VERY soft that leads to either an oddman rush or a full on breakaway. We cant lean on Howie for that type of crap. Otherwise, keep playing the way we have. We have played pretty damn good save for a few early periods and those are the ones that have been the game maker/breaker.
