We did not deserve to beat San Jose. The funny thing about conspiracy theories is that every fan of every NHL team thinks the league and Gary Bettman are somehow conspiring against them. Even Penguins fans think the league has it out for them. The NHL tends to enjoy better ratings when teams in larger, more traditional markets are successful. With that said, if the league really wanted to control the outcomes of games and playoff series, teams such as Nashville, Vancouver, Tampa Bay, and San Jose would be screwed, not us.

As for the "catch-up officiating"? That seems to have been going on for years. They will penalize Team A, miss something obvious on account of Team B, but look for something to get Team B for to "set things right". People have been complaining about that for decades, nothing new imho.

I think you hit the nail on the head here. This is the annoyingly uninspired Redwings team that shows up every so often following any periods of post season success. Remember the Redwings of the early and mid 2000s? They impressed us with their stellar regular seasons before bowing out in the first and second round to some surprise team like the Kings, Ducks, Flames, or Oilers. With the exception of tonight, this team has looked like a bunch of fat cats playing a much hungrier San Jose team that has a lot more to prove. I predict that this team will be done in 4, 5 games at best. I want to be optimistic and want to be wrong, but let's face it, history is stacked against us and tonight was heart breaker that could very well be the back breaker for the Wings in this series. Let's hope for a Redwings team on a mission in 2012.

At this point, I would be on board for that. The Sharks clearly deserved the first two games, but the Wings deserved to come out on top tonight. I hate the Sharks with a real passion and would wish nothing but the worst for them from here on out. Should the Shards make it to the next round, let's make sure they get there all beaten, battered, and bruised so they stand no chance against in the WCF and finish dead last next year. Given the trend in the Western Conference since the lockout and San Jose's hunger, the Shards are due for a Cup.
