I am still a fan of the hybrid icing, but I am unclear what you have to do to get it waved off...seemed like our guy was as close as you can get to beating the line and in normal circumstances would have won race...

First of all, don't be a baby, there are several other people in thread (and on the site) to debate with even if you think I am 100% stupid. Second, I never said he wasn't the best, but even the best have flaws (such as being stubborn and being too loyal to veterans? trying to fit square pegs in round holes? playing Dan Cleary on your top line).

You have to adjust the system to your personnel. I live in Champaign where Bruce Weber (with some mighty fine talent) went to a National Championship game then tried to run the same system with sub par talent and sucked horribly until run out of town. You can't always run the same stuff when you have different players. Good coaches adjust and change and aren't so stubborn they refuse to adjust. I am sure his system will look just fine when he is coaching a Canadian all-star team.

I just can't see our old fogeys doing another late season run that continues into the playoffs like last season. During a short season is one thing, but a full season, they are going to be out of gas. We are either going to sneak into the playoffs with all of our OT/SO 1 point losses, or miss it for the first time and we can blame the inequality between number of teams in West vs East.

Seriously what would it hurt at this point to give a healthy scratch to Bert, Franzen, Cleary, all on the same night and let 3 young'uns play? Might let them know their jobs aren't 100% safe and they play better next time after getting message sent.

I been thinking for the past few years about how the Squawk's D-men will pinch down almost constantly and help set up their offense and they rarely if ever get burned by it and know when to and not do it... I wonder why we can't do it and I also wonder why when we were playing Hawks we could never take advantage of it... I think its just skilled defensemen.
