Garth Snow was who I was thinking of in my previous post... Thanks for reminder, and good points too, Storm.

Speaking of over-sized equipment, it really seemed crazy to me when I saw Detroit/Chicago pre-game showing Jimmy Williams and Crawford sitting in just their goalie pants but regular shirts. It literally looked like they had a barrel around them ready to go down the Niagara Falls. I think they should look at equipment size again... I can't totally remember back in a decade or so, which Philly goalie was just insanely huge in oversized pads? He literally looked like a square box sitting in the crease, he was all pads.

ECF - (4) Boston Bruins vs. (1) Pittsburgh Penguins

Funny he didn't say that during Hawks-Wings game 7 OT post game analysis. And Hawk's goal was pure luck, whereas, Bruins worked to set up a play along boards and a perfect pass-shot/deflect. Way more skill than luck. -
This. Kronwall's visor cracks me up.

WCF : (5) Los Angeles Kings vs. (1) Chicago Blackhawks

"We at the League office aren't in the business of suspending star players. They need to be on the ice to make us money. And, as everyone knows, every player on the Hawks is a star in our eyes. They are the best team we have ever seen. Even Shaw and Bickell are top 6 players on any other team." -

Thought it was league policy to suspend the offending player for same amount of time as injury? Why Bolland still suiting up? They also wait until blood drawn/seriousness of injury to determine penalty/suspension. This is partially tongue in cheek because I detest that method of punishment, however, since it exists, why do Hawks get off scott-free? -
No Hawks or Pens prospect teams? Oh yeah, lol....

Did Jagr and Pens have any bad blood? Did he leave amidst any drama other than, sorry you are just too old? Which in itself, I am sure he'd love to prove to them he has gas left in the tank. -
I don't know why I keep clicking on this thread, it makes my blood boil... its way too soon for me to be talking about these two players.

I liked this line though: He actually did neither, of course, so he was forced to settle for Option 2395 — inking Carlo Colaiacovo and praying that Cola wouldn't shatter his wrist while signing his contract.

I am sick of some of the Hawk's puck luck. Sure they got hosed by the refs twice, so did a lot of teams, problem is they get away with hits after the whistle with zero calls from refs or Shanahan. Then say we are playing too tough, yeah during the game we do, we don't do cheap s*** after the whistle. But, we stink cause we couldn't score even when Crawford lost his stick. We lose a stick on almost every PP they that scored on us. Well, maybe half of them. They lost a stick against Kings, they just nonchalantly hand one to D-man, and then go get another from bench. Like walking on water. Then Crawford gets bad bounce off glass and stacks the pads 10 feet out from crease like a goalie from the 80's and Kings can't get a shot into empty net... sigh -
He questioned the coach on his playing time and Q was such an arrogant jerk that he thought he could give the kid a coaching moment and sit him while they played us because they gave us zero respect. If they thought we were a good team and they weren't gonna sweep us, he would have had all his top talent out there from game 1 onward. They didn't even know how to matchup lines, they thought they were gonna steamroll us rolling 4 lines with little care about matchups like they are doing to the Kings and did to the Wild. It took Babcock giving Q a coaching lesson for him to re-learn how to coach with some actual strategy. And this thread makes me a bit sick to my stomach, next thing you know, you guys will want to trade for Shaw. Puke.

So, the 5% is 2.5% Crosby, and 2.5% Toews? -
Yeah, it seems like I first noticed and more often notice Jimmy's post love tapping at other stadiums but rarely hear it on the TV for home games. Seems like the mics need an upgrade or re positioning.
-
I just don't see how Brodeur is still relevant enough to be on a game cover. Seems like young people would just think of him as some old ass goalie still playing... not some kind of super-stud like Quick or some up and comer.

I must admit I don't watch many of the East games but I have seen internet people say that one conference is tougher than the other. Realistically though, what is the majority consensus on the tougher of the two conferences? I always thought other than Boston who plays like a West team, East is more skill-based type hockey with less thuggery/goonery/clutch and grab?
-
Yeah. And by "cheating" I meant more like being a bit unfair for the opponent of the team in the AHL playoffs. But, I am only commenting, like I said, if the rules allow then do it because its all about these guys progression and experience for the mother team.
-
I'd say if there was any time it was okay for the C to focus on the game and team and not do a stupid media request or answer a question is going into OT in a game 7 of the playoffs.
-
Love seeing young guys get extra playing time and must admit I don't know the rules, but it seems pretty cheap that you can send guys down mid series... even in between series seems like cheating. But I'll take whatever the rules allow...

hypothetically what would we have to trade to get the 2nd and 3rd over
Rhah replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
The only thing I think is if a team is willing to trade away the first pick (assuming there is a consensus player) why would we think that player has any overwhelming future value? -
Are the crews set? I thought I heard Pierre last night talk about them going to the Pitt-Boston series.
-
Hah, yeah... plus, our only way of seeing how West competes vs East is in the Stanley Cup playoffs this year... if East sweeps West, for example, would Hawks' really have been President's Cup winners if they actually had East teams on their schedule this year?
-
I have to root for the Kings to beat the Hawks, if they don't and it ends up Hawks vs Pens... I will choose then. I will also root for Boston to beat Pens though. Man, I hope somebody steps up and starts the aggression on Toews all over again... who is the Kings' best two-way center?
