And don't forget Selanna punching Dekeyser in back of head. Isn't that "going for the head"? Guess it falls under same clause as Webber (if its not an actual hockey play, its basically MMA move) we can't punish it.
-
Sadly, you all know that even if he didn't leave his feet but if guy was on ice injured we would have had same outcome (maybe not the in game major)... And I said before, if Gryba going to get suspended for his 98% clean hit, Abs was for sure going to get one. However, if you read the Eller thread, I posted vid of Subban hit (that is very close to Kronwall type hits except he does leave feet) that goes uncalled and unpunished. I am more pissed at the inconsistency. The Refs are inconsistent in the games but even that can be forgiven, we all know how fast the game plays... but some of that inconsistency comes directly from the league office (ie. Shanahan).
-
Shanahan will just be another St. Louis Blues player to me now (actually he already was for inaction on Weber last year). That is the worst insult he can get from Wings fandom.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if they start handing out suspensions based on if the affected team wins or loses... Ducks got a PP goal on the major AND won game, no suspension. Gryba team won the game, suspension. Since they already hand out penalties after the fact based on how hurt the hit player is, might as well give out punishment based on the outcome of the game in question. League has ZERO credibility. EDIT - and my non homer opinion is, Abby's hit was worse than hit on Eller which got a suspension.
-
Or you just get calls like I just saw in Caps-Rangers where guy gets called for interference, other player gets called for unsportsmanlike diving... um if it was diving, there wasn't interference in first place!!! Jesus Christ, they are making this league a joke. Its illogical, just like it is illogical to make a ruling on a call based on a resulting injury (how serious it is).
-
Stupid that they are legislating based on an injury not taking into account the play was legal. Surprised guy who hit Cindy in the face with puck didn't get ejected from league.

Brian Lashoff to take Dekeyser's place in game 3

I don't think Tootoo is tall enough to get at the Duck's heads -
I will say it again, look at Subban's hit and tell me the hit on Eller was worse. Ignore the status of the player being hit. One gets up and other doesn't but that has no bearing on if the hit is illegal or not. Subban's shoulder/elbow goes right into Neil's head...

This is the same problem that I have with the NFL...defensive player goes to hit a receiver and the receiver crunches down to absorb the hit, effectively lowering their head and it ends up being an illegal hit. Defensive guys can't stop to think, oh is this guy going to shrink down before I hit them? I better aim for their ankle... You aim for guys chest with a check and he looks down to grab a puck and bam, its a head shot and illegal and suspension. You can't take away the instinct of defensive players or you make the whole game different.

Why do they have to cut these broadcasts so close? 25 minutes to play 20 minutes of hockey (not counting breaks at penalties or set commercial breaks at stoppages)... -
The Subban hit later (or maybe earlier but they showed it on the intermission after I saw that hit) was dirtier than that hit.

Pav's Nashville goal is knocked out of TSN Play of the Year
Rhah replied to Smite's topic in General
Ok I watched the Dan Boyle play in both NHL Top 10 goals and also the TSN Play of the year tourney... I don't understand what is so amazing about it. He goes end to end but only has to beat 1 guy and his team is on a damn 5 on 3, so no defender can really overcommit to try to stop him. Pasha's end to end goes through every member of the other team finishing with 4 of them around him as he shoots. The two plays aren't even comparable nor should even be in the same list or tournament. -

Selanne was also heard commenting that ice conditions are better in northern team's stadiums that don't also house basketball teams. No sh*t sherlock. -
Didn't they say their third goaltender was in minor league playoffs? Not sure if that is their AHL guy but he might not have had game but he was travelling for the playoffs in Houston or some other city?

Waiting for the Euro players to copy footballers... we going to get a flopping fish celebration soon?

GDT WCQF Game 1 GDT : Red Wings 1, at Ducks 3. (Anaheim leads, 1-0)

I think for me the issue was being in Illinois. NHL Network must have deal not to broadcast against local Hawks games even though NHL Network was then starting to show the Detroit game early as overflow since NBC Sports wasn't done with overtime Hawks. So, on my cable I had 2 broadcasts of Hawks (Comcast and NBC Sports) and 1 of Blues (CNBC) and two talking heads on NHL Networks diddling themselves.... -

I felt like the whole thing started bad. 1. NBC Sports s***s the bed for non-regional Wings/Ducks fans. 2. We looked like we were trying to coast after 4 very tough games to make the playoffs, its like the guys had an emotional release and thought, "ok now we are in, lets do this" rather than treating it like they did the 4 games previous. 3. Our passing looked VERY un Detroit-like, especially having so many turnovers in the neutral zone... our passing is usually a lot more crisp and accurate, hitting the recipient on the tape. Hopefully this sparks the guys to think they need to get back into do-or-die mode. Not just wait for game 4 down 0 and 3. Act like its do-or-die right now, in game 2. -

I guess it was too much to hope for 2 road pp goals. Back to even strength boys. -

Very happy we tied it up before intermission... -
NBC Sports is live streaming all games so I guess I am good just have to stay on computer until Chicago game is over I guess.
-
Nice late whistles... let Chicago try to jam puck for like a full minute.
-
I was just thinking same thing... going to have to find a stream somewhere

I feel like nobody ever puts a body on Kane. Probably a bad idea on that scoring play since it looked like a 4 on 3 break practically, but earlier a Wild player stopped short while Kane is right on the boards with the puck barely moving... put a body on him man. Jeez.
