Do we know how bad the concussions are? Should we expect them to be back at the start of next season?

I think that if we want to see Filppula on Pav's wing then the Wings need to acquire a solid third line center. I think Brooks Laich isn't a realistic option but even if he was I'm not so sure he'd respond well to the multiple tasks the Wings demand of their centermen. Who else is out there that can be a solid third center for the Wings?

Yeah. It's hard when you disagree with a certain approach. Or maybe culture is a better term for it. I would think that guys like Kenny and Babs make it clear that if you want to be on a scoring line you have to do x, y and z. If you don't do those things then you don't play on a scoring line. It's that simple. Jiri probably thought and probably still believes that he can do x and most of y or that he does a good enough job of x, y and z and thus he should be able to play within the top six. Here in NA I'm sure many hockey professionals in management and coaching disagree with the Red Wings approach or culture, which validates Hudler's supposed beliefs. Overall, maybe he'll never be a good enough fit for the Red Wings style.

The more I think about it, the more I feel like the Wings are stuck with him for one more year. If we wanted to look at the upside, at least it's a contract year for him so maybe he'll play a little more motivated. I don't remember that. Not that I don't believe you but do you have a link by any chance?

That's the impression I have as well. I can already see the season previews where Kenny says, "He struggled last season but we always like to give our players an opportunity" and bla bla bla.

Free agent defensemen for 2011 with a current contract of 2mil and under. Obviously we're looking for an upgrade for Salei and/or Ericsson. I know some people here have already mentioned their dreams to acquire Shane O'Brien. Any other preference?

Why do I have to vote in each "category"? I didn't select any guys who I'd like to keep around "just in case." The closest in group 3 for me is Joey Macdonald but I hope he plays for the Griffins again.

Poor Jonny Boy. I remember when everybody was so excited about him just a few years ago. "Finally the Wings got a dman with size and puck moving ability!" Babcock hyped him up even more and said he plays like Pronger. Ah the good 'ol days.

Seems like a lot of people on here want to trade Hudler. Or rather, upgrade Hudler. But how much of a loyalty factor would prevent Kenny from actually doing it?

They do have heart and they do have desire. Not sure if they had "enough" of all that though. In this parity filled world though where every little detail makes a big difference, the Wings have to find a way to stay hungry to win.

As a general principle, I just want Kenny to get some guys who are hungry for a cup. I think the Wings showed all the heart, desire and hunger that they had. They did everything they could. Yet, they're not the ones traveling to Vancouver. The challenge is that if you've won a cup before, you're probably don't have as much desire as someone who hasn't. I hope that some news faces would keep things fresh and exciting and inspire the team a little more.
