I didn't see a thread specifically about free agents so I figured I'd start one. Anyone else keeping an eye on potential 2013 free agents? http://www.capgeek.com/free-agents/ It doesn't seem to be a particularly flashy free agent class. A lot of older players for sure. You kind of always have to inquire about talents like Perry and Getzlaf. Even Horton with his injury history. I'd offer a little consideration for old timers like Iginla/Alfredsson if they're interested. Visnovsky/Gonchar, maybe even Zidlicky could be a good one or two year stop gaps on defense. Even though he's kind of an idiot, I'd kick the tires on Ryane Clowe to see where he's at and what he wants. Speaking of San Jose, I wonder how much it would cost to get Doug Murray. Who would you consider?

The latest installment of FSN Red Wings Live's new segment "Off The Boards" featured Niklas Kronwall. They talked about various topics and one that came up was Kronwall's favorite or most memorable hit for him, which immediately made me think of this thread. He didn't actually say the words 'most memorable' or 'favorite' like I did above but the one that perhaps most prominently came to his mind because of the "timing" (his words not mine) was the hit on Dany "I'm a f***in' all-star" Heatley. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfX5BwDKjq0 Not sure if that one's in my personal top five but Kronner's the one who dishes out the hits. Not sure why I don't particularly love that hit; even if it did knock Heatley down on his ass. Maybe because it's kind of a difficult one to defend against his haters and just a little too much on the borderline for my liking. But that's just me.

Hopefully he's started one of his notorious hot streaks.

What are our thoughts on Iginla? Think he has any interest in being a Red Wing? Or even leaving Calgary at all? I could certainly see how him in Pittsburgh would be like a dream scenario for both parties.

I'm a big fan of Filppula yet I have to admit that I seriously hope they're shopping him or at least starting to get trade talks going. Yeah I get that Kenny said "It's too early to judge this team" and "We don't know what we have yet with this team" or whatever but he should be aware of what can be realistically available for him as an option. Trades can take a looooooong time to come to fruition and so you want to start those talks early but I'm sure he knows that. I really don't want the organization to lose him for nothing.

I'd kind of like a 3rd line of Abdelkader-Helm-Clarkson.

I can see how some would feel that way but I've just never been that way myself personally. If it were up to me I'd have the Wings win every game ever very handily. Seeing my sports teams dominate just never gets old to me no matter what the degree of difficulty. If I'm rooting for a particular team then a close win doesn't really make the game any more exciting for me. I just want the win. But again, that's just me.

Good game by the Wings but what the hell happened to Vancouver in that game? I know the last game of a road trip can be kind of tough since all you might think about is your warm bed back at home but it was only a two game road trip for them I think.

If you're being serious, I think it's too early. Jerseys are pretty expensive. At least to me they are. It's a pretty big commitment, haha. But that's just me and my weird perspective on jerseys. I still have yet to get my Yzerman jersey that I promised myself back in 199-whenever.

How often does a media presser happen for a hockey GM who just got fired? Anytime I see a clip of Burke saying something I think to myself, "Wow this guy really likes attention." The term "Media *****" comes to mind as well. If it happens a lot and I just don't know then oh well but man that just seems rather odd to me.

Is this a full-time or part-time gig for him?
