Datsyuk versus Zetterberg was what I desperately wanted to see for the 2010 Olympic Gold Medal. WC isn't so bad I suppose but I can't even watch that because my internet sucks. Bah well.

Filppula's new Nike-Bauer? ad campaign. Not bad. "Break the Spell"? More like "Shoot the Puck" or "Work to the Inside", am I riiiight?

Dan Cleary openly admits to being at 50%
Red Wings Addict replied to NBCnothingbutcrosby's topic in General
I agree but they can't continue to utilize him like that. It's great that he's willing to sacrifice his body but the team could have really benefitted from someone else with is more free to play and can provide more speed and energy. -
I say: Exelby - Keep him for GR if he wants to stay. Janik - Keep him for GR if he wants to stay. Brunnstrom - Keep him for GR if he wants to stay but I bet he'll understandably want more in Europe. Conner - Keep him for GR if he wants to stay. Minard - Good finish to the season but look to upgrade. Should be like a Plan J or K. Johnson - Decent season but look to upgrade. Again, should be like a Plan J or K. Ehrhardt - Meh. A Brett Lebda at best. Pyett - He sucks. Tell him to f*** off, haha. Plus I don't think Ouellet and Sproul are old enough to play in the AHL yet.

What if New Jersey wins the cup? Do we want a player who won't be as hungry and desperate for a championship? I just had a dream that the Wings signed Parise AND traded for Adam Larsson. Ah I wish I never woke up you know? Lidstrom-Larsson Kronwall-Ericsson Quincey-Smith
-
So they might have to try Kronwall or Karlsson at forward due to injuries. They can't just call someone up? Perhaps Nicklas Backstrom will be available after tonight you know?

So he's had his knee surgery. Does he have any other injuries? -
Landeskog, wow. I'm a little surprised he's getting so much love since he didn't develop in the Swedish system.

I actually agree that Filppula shouldn't be the third line center. At the same time, it's all about a good fit. If Franzen is on the third line then you need a center who is at least like Filppula, especially since they've had good chemistry in the past. If they acquire a solid and skilled center for the third line then keep Fil in the top six. But right now they don't have that guy and Fil is a better fit and a bigger threat next to Mule on the third line.
-
If the Wings choose not to go after a solid bottom six center to really solidify the depth then they'll probably go with the three scoring lines option, which has shown to be quite ugly in the past at times (Remember Leino-Filppula-Williams? Ugh.) but also quite effective at times (Hudler-Filppula-Samuelsson, at least during the regular season). If they try to go with three scoring lines then I'd really like to see something like this: Parise-Datsyuk-Bertuzzi Nyquist-Zetterberg-Cleary Franzen-Filppula-Eaves/Miller Abdelkader-Helm-Mursak And no I'm really not trying to demote Franzen and/or Filppula. I just think that kind of balance would be quite nice BUT only if Nyquist approaches his first full NHL season with absolutely no fear like he did his first AHL season and if Cleary redeems himself or at least finds a way to not be injured as much. I know Franzen's getting paid a lot but if you could find a way to have such a balance that he plays on the third line then yeah, it would be quite nice. You could switch Franzen with Nyquist but then the third line simply doesn't look as dangerous on paper.

Will the Wings keep Kyle Quincey?
Red Wings Addict replied to LidstromIsASuperhero's topic in General
It's cool that Quincey receives consideration for the Canadian team. I'm happy that he's playing there. -
Do teams have captains and assistant captains? If so I imagine Z must be one.

Cartman doesn't really sound like that on the show. I guess that's what copyrighting does for ya? -
Is your name Adrian Dater? Hehe. He said the same thing about O'Reilly.

Calle Jarnkrok - Does he have a chance to make next season's team?
Red Wings Addict replied to a topic in General
Yeah neither do I. I remember an interview last year with Hakan Andersson and he made sure to mention that after Calle's contract with Brynas was up that he would be good enough to make the Wings team. Pretty bold from Mr. Hakan. Truth be told, we've seen some Swedes in the AHL who I've never though I'd see for too long. Oiler town is the most prominent example in my mind right now; MPS and Omark. Although "Rot away in the AHL" is kind of harsh. Just so I have it somewhat right, the main reason why non-North Americans don't like the AHL is because they can easily earn more money back at home? And then a secondary reason is the 'quality of hockey/skill'? -
Calle Jarnkrok - Does he have a chance to make next season's team?
Red Wings Addict replied to a topic in General
Everything I heard from the Swedish media stated that he intends to fulfill his contract with Brynas, which has one more year. I didn't think he'd be in NA at all. -

#4 Nashville Predators vs. #3 Phoenix Coyotes
Red Wings Addict replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Not sure how to interpret this series. Is Pheonix that good? Or is Nashville that bad? Which would make Detroit that much worse? Of course it's always a combination of factors but one of them has a clear majority. -
Calle Jarnkrok - Does he have a chance to make next season's team?

He had 1 assist in his first WC game against Norway. But apparently... Hmm... Just Khan being careless or does he know something that we don't? -

Philadelphia bar brews a beer called "Crosby Tears"
Red Wings Addict replied to PredsFanTheBayouState's topic in General
Brilliant (quite a setup for many super easy jokes about a head that's too foamy in conjunction with Crosby and the usual suspects such as Bettman, Lemieux, Sid's parents, etc.) ... (that is, assuming one of those people actually has one, ah see it's just way too easy). -
Calle Jarnkrok - Does he have a chance to make next season's team?
Red Wings Addict replied to a topic in General
Well I kind of went with players who should be signed/players with no waiver options. If Jarnkrok is good enough to center the third line and Nyquist is one winger then I would hope for a better winger than Andersson for sure in more ideal world. Someone with better speed and finishing ability for sure because Andersson is arguably below average in those areas at the NHL level. -

Well that line change by Philly sucked about 100000000 times more. -
Will the Wings keep Kyle Quincey?
Red Wings Addict replied to LidstromIsASuperhero's topic in General
Well there's also Kindl. A part of me thinks the Wings will slot Ericsson as their #4 (or Kronner's new partner in general) and here's my sense of why they might do that. 1. He does have the potential to do a good job. 2. They'll cite his history of playing well with Kronwall. (Which I agree with, plus in theory the pair should be better after a training camp and 20+ games) 3. In the minds of the Wings, he had a pretty good playoff performance. (I don't know about pretty good. Perhaps solid is more like it. He did his fair share.) 4. He's been learning from Stuart for some time now. (No doubt, but what is the finished product like these days?) 5. His contract. (Yeah.) 6. There has to be more. I just can't think of it. I'm not an Ericsson hater, really. I'm just still a little bit skeptical. The good thing is that he and Quincey will probably compete hard for that spot and whoever wins it will have to really keep sharp knowing that the team legitimately has someone that's itching to take it from them.
