I appreciate the sentiment but Hakan Andersson didn't scout/find Nick Lidstrom. It was the European scout before Hakan named Christer Rockstrom.

Moron. Hopefully it'll be nice to watch a player like Almqvist whose biggest strength is hockey sense, which definitely is not a strength of Smith's.
-
Oh yeah. For sure. At the same time, and I ask this as innocently as possible: Were you around during Larry Murphy's first few years as a analyst? My goodness. Compared to that, Ozzie's having a decent rookie year.

Helm Update: He's still awesome.

Pretty self-explanatory thread. I'll start out with this one:

Sedins Sign 4 year $28 Million/piece extension
Red Wings Addict replied to Euro_Twins's topic in General
What would you say the country of Sweden's opinion is in terms of which Sedin twin is worth more if you absolutely had to put one over the other? Ever since I've heard of them I would only hear that Daniel is the better player. Yet Henrik is the one with the C who always like to half-joke that he carries Daniel on that line. -
LGW just got Kronwalled with this thread.
-
Wow. Man that'd be awesome.

I agree and would vote in favor of a change to the LGW masthead picture. Regardless of whatever kind of career Franzen has for the rest of his playing days. I feel like it should be Helm even though he hasn't played in a while or Howie.

First off, being at the Joe for Wings games is awesome. It's also not perfect. Nothing is. (That is, of course, unless they win the cup.) Last night, for instance, I was at the game and unfortunately I was in a row with people who clearly were not there to watch the game. They constantly made everyone else in our row get up so they could get out and do God knows what. I also can't stand those people who constantly try to take other people's seats because they think they're open. At some point it's just like, "Dude, the Joe doesn't really have many bad seats. Just chill out in the seat you paid for (I'm assuming). I think the most annoying ones of all are those who leave early when they are either down a goal or the game is tied. Ugh. How about you guys?

The most annoying things about being at games?

Seriously. How hard is that? They even say it multiple times at the Joe during games. They should include, "We grant the fans permission to smack you if you break this rule." -

1. Bah. Just dumb. 2. Yeah like I said in the OP, seat poachers are annoying as hell. I've just never used that term before to refer to those people. And I'm sure a bunch of people on LGW are probably guilty of that as well, smh. At the same time, "Nobody wants a single ticket as a freebie?" ...Umm... What kind of Wings fans do you deal with, man? I know I'd love one and I'm sure a bunch of LGW people would love one too. 3. Again, bah. Just dumb. 4. ...Seriously? Who the hell cares what your ticket looks like? 5. Zing. It's not so much common sense that these 'fans' need but rather just even the slightest bit of self-awareness. I feel like a lot of people are there just for a night out and don't really care about the Red Wings. Oh well. At least they still keep the Ilitches in business. -

Jeez. That's horrible. -
Don't really know what's going on behind the scenes but my hope is that Z and Kronner are in Mule's ear about maximizing his ability. Maybe they're the only ones that can grab his undivided attention.

I feel like a player such as a Brian Rafalski would be the absolute perfect dman partner for him right now. Man oh man.

I agree with the frustrating description but not so much the "very substantial level of talent". At least relative to the NHL level. I see a player who can skate and play aggressively and with decent skill. He doesn't currently have much of a toolbox for the tools/talents he has at his disposal but maybe at the NHL level he doesn't have many special tools after all.

I know it's not as worrisome as a back injury but God f**king dammit! I just want to see Danger skating circles around opponents again...

GDT 10/19 GDT : Red Wings 2 at Coyotes 5
Red Wings Addict replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Yes. The development of his eventual replacement Jeff Blashill accelerates so that in time Babs can move on and coach a team more fitting to his taste and image like the Bruins. -

A sports internet forum just isn't a sports internet forum without that one troll who hates everything. At some point you just gotta sit back and laugh at the need for attention issues. -
For all the Smith bashers out there!

Hell play Alfie on defense for a few. Or Pav but I'd much rather have him play as a forward. -

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if he was just laughing his ass off tbh. -

Jesus... So the Wings start out with a 2-0 lead and then give up four straight goals against. The Griffins have a 4-2 lead with less than 4 minutes to go in the 3rd and then end up losing in the shootout 5-4 And now the Tigers too?!?!?! -
10/18 Griffins GDT (Banner Raising & #43's return)
Red Wings Addict replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I can't help but feel like he's been underwhelming but it's very much an irrational but immediate reaction. Maybe it's because of the hype but I expected much more of a jump in his step/battle level. Also I'm stereotyping him a little bit because of the experiences with European players who believe they're too good for the AHL and eventually get sick of "paying their dues."
