It would be quite a deep but very congested lineup if Nick and Stewie come back. Lidstrom-White Kronwall-Stuart Ericsson-Quincey Kindl-Smith Looks like a lineup for video games.

Maybe he has some super ankle tape from the top researchers in Sweden or Detroit or something. Meh. Which Johnson? I'm blanking big time I know it. It's interesting because after I wrote that I felt a tiny bit hypocritical because Z isn't afraid to give a slash here and there. Well, nothing to the extent of that ridiculous Thornton slash but you know what I mean. At the same time, I've only seen Z give a slash to the types of Kesler, Backes, etc. I don't think I've ever seen him play someone like Henrik Sedin or Mikko Koivu that way.

Ankle issues? I ******* hate Joe Thornton even more now. I mean, yeah that slash by Dumbo Joe in May 2011 probably has nothing to do with Z's ankle issues but that was the first thing I thought of when I heard about Z's ankle issues. Plus, I mean, come on, Thornton's just a moron to be hated anyways. But also, I mean, should this information be released publicly? Whatever happened to lower body injury or in this case "upper body injury"? (I remember hearing about Shanahan leaving the Joe in crutches one year claiming it was an upper body injury). Isn't this the kind of information that guys like Backes, Thornton, Kesler, etc. salivate over?

I remember at last year's luncheon (not sure if it's the same one) Babs fawned all over Cleary and Franzen. He really spoke of them as if the Wings will never ever ever ever ever trade the two. I also vaguely remember hearing that Babs didn't speak all that highly about Filppula or something like that. It's interesting to see Babs have a different tone this year about Fil.

Great action shot but f*** Kesler! It's hard for me to say anything about the Canucks now that their arguably best player is out. I need some time to gauge how well they play these next few games.

Well it's not THAT preposterous. It is plausible that the Wings could be that much better of a team if they solidify the bottom six with one or two players who really know what they're doing. They've had to be patient with the bottom six youth movement and gradual and still ongoing growth process of Helm, Abdelkader, Miller, Eaves, etc. It'd be nice if they had a guy in his prime who can lead the bottom six and provide some stability and a calming presence the way Lidstrom does for the entire team. Draper used to be that guy and it looks like the Wings are waiting for one of Helm/Abdelkader/etc to grow into that role instead of acquiring someone. The Wings will undoubtedly be a much more dangerous team with a guy like Parise. But the Wings are also good enough that they don't desperately need a 40 goal scorer and can solidify themselves as one of the handful of top elite teams in the league if they make significantly effective improvements in other areas.

My sense is that people have really grown to hate the Mule-Pav-Bert line. I know Babs likes to not change his lineup as much as possible if it's working. I don't know if I'd use that line every time but definitely against the lines in the mold of Lucic-Krejci-Horton.

Nedomlel the next Jiri Fischer perhaps? Fischer's mean streak is missed by some including myself.

The way Nyquist has played and looked so natural and not out of place at all on a scoring line kind of reminds me of the way Zetterberg's career began when he started out on the Shanahan-Fedorov-Zetterberg line.

So GR's back end next year will have Lashoff, Almqvist, Ehrhardt, Fournier (if he makes the team) along with hopefully Janik and Exelby along with hopefully NO Logan Pyett. Ugh. Janik-Lashoff Fournier-Ehrhardt Exelby-Almqvist ...Meh... The forward crew is probably far more exciting.

Can't wait for the Wednesday rematch. Jackets will be pissed as hell. Could be a good game.

It's weird seeing that #14 on Nyquist. Maybe not as much as when it was the number for Meech but still weird. If it were up to him I think he would choose #89. I remember him saying in an interview that he wanted a particular number with the Griffins but "it wasn't available." He didn't specify it was 89 but I have a feeling it was. I think he'll eventually change his number to 89. In some circles it might be a big deal or "frowned upon" at the NHL level if a young player not only wants a particular number but wants one in the 80s or 90s. I know how some clubs describe it like a wide receiver in football with the whole "Hey look at me and my high number!" sort of thing. Unless you got a character who is a real moron, a player's number doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me and it shouldn't be no matter what the number is. My impression is that Datsyuk specifically wanted 13. I remember reading about how the Wings casually offered a number change to Ericsson but he didn't really care. Mursak specifically wanted the change to 39; I forgot what his previous number was though. On Nyquist I think I like 89 better because it's the number he had in his college days. Plus 14 to me will always be Shanny's.

Come on boys, get it done.

Current Tallies. Top three are currently Pittsburgh, Vancouver and San Jose. Pretty much standard. Although I think the main reason why Pittsburgh is the front runner is because they're the favorite. Chicago didn't get as many hates as I thought they would. Some of those results are flat out hilarious. I love how Columbus has three hates.
