Which team would piss you off the most if they won the cup?
Red Wings Addict replied to Red Wings Addict's topic in General
I can see that. It's kind of like Boston last year. I can't stand Boston fans. I hated to see the Bruins win the cup but I damn sure didn't want Vancouver to be champions either. So I rooted for Boston, the slightly lesser of two evils. I'm not regretting how I rooted for Boston but man it's hard to deal with the repercussions of the city of Boston having another championship. -
I'd love it.

Riley Sheahan signs tryout contract with Griffins
Red Wings Addict replied to Din758's topic in General
The Griffins need lots and lots more defense in their system. They're the highest scoring team in the league (I think? Or at least one of them) and they're not in a playoff spot. Yeah I know it's not about winning in the AHL but that the prospects get playing time but still, that's kind of embarrassing. I'm curious to see how a PK would do with Andersson, Aubry (with one year of experience) and now Sheahan. -
Another big question for me is what will they name it?
-
Not surprised. It still pisses people off though. O'Halloran's ridiculous.

Yeah I would expect you to say Pitt since you live there; and respectively the same for people who live in Chicago. -
Well I think it's fair to say that Zetterberg WAS adept at shutting down Crosby. The last time we saw him do that was in like 2010? Things change and while I still proclaim Z as my favorite player I feel like I need to see him shut down Sid again before I can really believe he can still do it.

At first I thought I had some crud on my screen or something. Well played. Although Penis instead of Pens is too much of a compliment to them for my liking. -
I thought he was demoted because of injuries?

Not sure about the cup but they now have a playoff spot locked up. Also happened during Radulov's debut.

So who could the Red Wings get in the offseason?
Red Wings Addict replied to Jeff6851's topic in General
He's not available in the off-season but would a dman pairing of Kronwall-Weber be the most feared hitting duo on the back end? -
Yeah they still suck as a group. That one fan though is at least approachable and sounds like someone with which you can have a legitimate hockey conversation, or any kind of conversation for that matter.

New Pavel Datsyuk interview from Dmitry Chesnokov
Red Wings Addict replied to Jenny's topic in General
The parts I appreciated the most: Hmm... Who would play Pav best in movie? Goldblum? Good for you, Pav. Stay away from politics. Don't be another ****** and/or a turd. Pavel Datsyuk Interior Designs. Nice. Maybe he and Sean Avery can work together or something. Oh drama drama drama... I bet Pav could get a bunch of young hockey players trying out figure skates. "Pav did it, I should too!" I wonder who this other player is, haha. And I guess it might be safe to say that Pav will decline if the Wings offer him the C after Lidstrom retires. Some of the people who named their pets after Datsyuk are on LGW. I just know it. -
The reason The Wings shipped Mike Commodore

? Maybe she's from there? -
I don't think Bettman or the Hockey Gods will let that happen. If Kronner gets him like he did Voracek or Havlat then I wonder if that could really put Sid out of the game. Maybe it's not all that likely because he's a center and perhaps doesn't spend as much time skating up the wing like so many of Kronwall's victims but we've seen Kesler, Briere and Bonk get hit at least.
-
I'm really not trying to be all panicky at all but if it's a sprained MCL, regardless of grade, is Helm's season pretty much over? He'll need one month at least but then we've also painfully observed Kronwall and Zetterberg play less than their capabilities for months after they had the same injury. I wonder if the Wings might just shut him down in that case. If it's his ACL then my perception is Helm's season is most likely over based on previous athletes who've needed surgery/recovery time from it.

Maybe this is what the Mule needs. A little breather. Or whatever. Clearly a kick in ass isn't working.

“The reality right now is that as a group we’re not working hard enough, we’re not playing with good enough structure, and therefore we don’t look very skilled,” Wings coach Mike Babcock said. “We have to have a look in the mirror and get it fixed. You go through adversity every year and we’re getting our share right now.” http://redwings.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=622374

What do you think needs to be done to fix the PP/PK
Red Wings Addict replied to Jeff6851's topic in General
Has a middle of the pack PP and PK just suddenly become top 10 or top 5 in the playoffs? Has a team ever done anything like that? -
Well I'm seriously wondering about it. I really don't know. In the crazy world of professional sports, perhaps the best thing for him is to keep playing. He might be thinking that rest won't really heal him up much more significantly so he might as well play. Again, I'm really not sure.
-
Oh Cleary... Oh Danny Boy... Would it be such a bad idea if he sat and healed up for a little bit or is it really better for him physically to keep playing through this injury?
-
He will have a chance for sure. However, as a Tatar fan, even I have to admit that he probably won't make the team next year because he still has one year left of waiver exemption. The fans who follow the prospects are painfully aware of how much that matters. Also, when you consider how some in the scouting staff think he should be putting up more points in addition to the significant and tremendous improvements in his defensive game, I believe the safe bet is he has one more year of "seasoning" in GR. It is what it is.

That means Pittsburgh and Chicago will meet in the finals too.
