If you haven't seen that one, have you seen the "Spotlight" episodes for Lidstrom and Zetterberg? The one for Zetterberg was my favorite for sure. I have them on VHS somewhere in my Mom's or Dad's or sister's house. I gotta get those up someday or at least hand them to someone more inclined for that kind of stuff.

I think Hudler is on steroids.

The next question from the critics including myself will be "Can he rack up 50-60 points AND 'play center'?" Now that's kind of a tough question because what does it really mean to play the center position? When the Euro Twins are at their best, they both benefit from not having to play center as much because they could improvise and back each other up. In all fairness, last year Datsyuk and Zetterberg were able to play a relatively pure center game and maintain a ppg pace. Fil was able to do it for I think 17 games in which he got 16 points or something like that? but later on got ice cold for whatever reason.

While I somewhat agree with this sentiment, I'm not exactly sure who I would put above Lidstrom. I'm not sure he's been great as far as a two-way defenseman goes. However, I can't really say for sure that one of the other guys has been better. Who's been better from your point of view just out of curiosity? Ericsson?

2/28 GDT : Red Wings 5 at Blue Jackets 2

Great choice. Like Hudler said, his 1000 games are like 2000 games for everyone else in terms of the amount of pain. -
Right now I feel like when it's all said and done he'll have averaged about 2-3 fights a year.

Anyone remember this gem? Can't believe I found it on YT. Enjoy before it gets taken down.

Brad Stuart's family issues

Well Weber is a RFA but still... A top four of Lidstrom-White \ Weber Kronwall-Weber \ White is... well, would any other team in the league have a better top four? -

+1 Haha, nice. Yeah I'm pretty proud of the kid too. It's pretty much a replica of his first ever NHL goal. Can't wait until he gets more comfortable with the league and feels the freedom to just play his game. -
Not gonna lie though, it'd be quite awesome to have Patrick Sharp. If anything maybe he wouldn't have speared Lidstrom in the nuts.

I'd still be happy with a 52-55 point season.

1. Smith 2. Nyquist 3. Jarnkrok 4. Mrazek 5. Sheahan 6. Tatar 7. Jurco 8. Pulkkinen 9. Andersson 10. Ouellet -Probably hang up the phone within 10 seconds unless they wow me right away in terms of offers for Smith and Nyquist. -Probably give only %10 of my full attention for offers about Jarnkrok and Jurco. -Probably give only %40-%50 of my full attention in regards to offers for Mrazek, Sheahan, Tatar and Ouellet. -And I'd be open to see what's out there for Pulkkinen and Andersson.

I see that Mursak scored... Aussie_Wing, we all want to know, what was the feeling like when you first saw his goal? -
Well you know just as well as anyone here about how that part of a player's game can get tamed when they start to play for the Red Wings. In terms of physicality, I expect him to be a little like Stuart with maybe a handful of fights throughout the year but the more they depend on him for big minutes the less he'll probably fight, for better or for worse.

Check out what Babs had to say at 0:48. http://video.redwings.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=-6&id=160734

Any chance the Wings will have a similar resurgence from GR like Darren Helm in '08? Maybe Joakim Andersson provides unexpected solidification to the 4th line?

D Commodore dealt to Lightning for cond. 7th round pick
Red Wings Addict replied to Tim.D's topic in General
Wait so if Commie doesn't play 15 games and the Bolts don't make the playoffs then the Wings don't get a pick at all? Like for the rest of the time or just this year? -
Some fresh news about Barry Sanders and how he filed for divorce. To me he's the first example that comes to my mind when it comes to somebody in that kind of losing situation. Like oh no they're going on a path like #20.

Yeah I really didn't mean for that comment to indicate that I didn't know all that kind of stuff about him. It was just an interesting change in comparisons over time. My bad. Offensively I actually think he has a better shot than Kronwall and has more of a taste and confidence to execute dangles. Passing ability between the two is probably equally impressive and yes they both have that as a definite strength. Actually the way Smith hits players along the boards as they're trying to beat him wide kind of reminds me of Stuart a little. He's very aggressive and nasty when he knows a forward has run out of room/options. In that situation, I feel like Kronwall does just enough to neutralize any potential threat while Smith wants to actually make it hurt. I'm not exactly sure if Kronwall is the best in the league right now at reading when a player is vulnerable to an open ice hit and timing it effectively but I can't think of anyone better right now. Jollymania will probably say that Kronner is at least one of the best right now. Defensively, well, you say Kronwall has ironed out his issues with age. I think that's being just a tad generous for Kronwall. I feel like he's making strides towards getting there but not exactly at a rate in which people hoped. Kind of like Filppula on offense. Or maybe that's just the whole comparison to Nick Lidstrom in his virtually mistake-free prime (which he's no longer in) comparison that some Wings fans have when they watch other dmen. With more muscle on him and some more years of experience then I think you have a legit #2 or top pair defenseman. The past several years, out of an 82 game season, I'd say I watch around 35-50 (mostly painful because of the losing) Griffins games thanks to the generous people here. Yet, I still don't quite have a handle on if he's better on the left or right side. Like a lot of left-shooting skilled defensemen, he passes better when he's on the left side but is more active and jumping when he's on the right. Or at least that's how I see it.

At first I heard an eventual poor man's Scott Niedermayer. Now I'm hearing a poor man's Keith Yandle.

Who? I think I know a guy who used to have that name but I'm pretty sure his new name is Market Value.

I would agree but I kind of blame Chicago for anything trivial.
