Phil Kessel’s NHL peers find him easy to intimidate, according to survey http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/phil-kessel-nhl-peers-him-easy-intimidate-according-174601145.html

Yeah, which is tough for me to admit because to me that's probably the most beautiful collision in that video. The way he made Miettinen move was like something out of a wushu movie or The Matrix or something like that. It's a lot easier when you have the size of Briere or Hemsky. When you're as big as Kesler or Ruutu (who isn't in that video), you have to do a little extra. Now, of course, he got Ryane Clowe perfectly well and to be honest that hit surprised me a little but in the heat of the moment you have little time to size a guy up and decide what you need to do to take him down. I just assume that if a guy is that big then Kronwall kind of has to take a penalty to get a good hit on him. His two big hits on Clowe, one of which isn't on there, to me are an anomaly in his body of work of hits.

Yeah Kesler isn't that easy to like, which is probably what put it up there so high, but still. I mean, Kronner left his feet on that one. The collision took Kronwall out of the play too. Yadda yadda.
-
I wouldn't rank the Kesler hit as high as he did but a fantastic video nonetheless.

So are the Rangers still the softest team to Joe Thornton?
-
Hope so. Babs does have a tendency to put the cart before the horse though.

Some great quotes about Filppula from Selanne. He broke out of his pointless streak with an assist on Z's goal last night. It's a good sign for him if he can keep whatever pointless streaks he may have to 2-3 games instead of last year's lengths.

Well many other teams have their own version of redwingscentral too iirc. Hockeysfuture in my mind is a good source for quick tidbits but I'm a details person and in that regard, they're quite crude from my perception.

Is Nicklas Lidstrom The Greatest Detroit Red Wing Of All Time?
Red Wings Addict replied to up2here's topic in General
You can make a very good case for it. At the same time, one I have a hard time giving that title to anybody. Two, it seems like Nick Lidstrom, for whatever reason, simply won't be revered the way Gordie and Stevie are. In my mind eventually it turns into a comparison based on political idiosyncrasies, which may or may not be valid, who knows? I'm simply happy enough to regard him as one of the best Red Wings of all time. -
Yup.

Well what about a player who plays in the top six for an unquestionable majority of the year? It's tough because if you look at the current Wings roster in terms of players who play in the top six for the past few years, only Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Franzen have played there for the whole season. The rest have all spent some fairly significant time in the bottom six.

Hehe, no. If I hope he's related to any Callahan it would be this guy:

Like this forward corps in 02-03 if you only look at names and not context. Shanahan-Fedorov-Yzerman Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Hull Maltby-Draper-McCarty Robitaille-Larionov-Holmstrom
-
He got scratched but he was scheduled for a duel with Chuck Norris. The winner would move on to face Nick Lidstrom.

#20!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You could argue that Schenn's second goal is mostly his fault too.
-
True. Some points in favor of this era, however, is not only the parity within the system but the speed of the game.

What happened to Zetterberg's scoring touch?
Red Wings Addict replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
1 goal and 2 assists tonight and he's not even one of the three stars. -
Redwingscentral.com is better. But then balance that a little bit with the Red Wings prospects forum at HFboards.com.
-
Plus you definitely can't take for granted how well he keeps the puck down low during his slightly above average to best games.

Meh. It's Joe Thornton. It's what he does.

2/10 GDT : Ducks 1 at Red Wings 2 (SO)
Red Wings Addict replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Ahh okay. I can understand that. It's just that judging it from the hockey aspect alone I'm not sure any of us would say that's one of the best games we've seen live and in person. -
