I'm just not sure why people wouldn't finish their checks to the best of their gusto on Nick. I'm not saying it doesn't happen. But why exactly wouldn't they? Didn't opposing players have no lack of shyness for targeting Bobby Orr's knees? What's changed today? Are opposing players more likely to get an unfavorable call from the officials if they check Lidstrom too hard or something like that?

It's really hard for me to pick just 20-23 players. I would want Yzerman and Fedorov for sure, which sucks because right now it seems as if neither of them want to play. At some point you might just want to go with the classics: Yzerman-Shanahan, The Russian Five, The Grind Line, The Bruise Brothers with Kocur as the representative for both (RIP Bob Probert), The Production Line (however plausible), Mickey Redmond. Man I wish they could make two-three teams. Organizations like the Wings and Leafs can pull that off.

Hmm... I'm not so sure. You always hear about how coaches tell their players to finish their checks nice and hard on Nick Lidstrom because the opportunities are so rare. Maybe those players were on the tail end of a shift or something like that.

I remember those days of Scotty riding Homer. The things is though that with Homer it really worked. During the 97-98 season I vaguely remember him securing 12-15 straight games after a really good performance against Montreal with the Holmstrom-Yzerman-McCarty line. I could just be making that up but I do remember something like that along those shades of memory.

Jeez.... With the way some of you talk about getting tickets it's as if we'll have to kill each other for them.

I can understand wanting to get back at Pittsburgh. At the same time, I feel like the Wings don't really have anything to prove against the Pens. My perception was that the Wings were still regarded as the better team among many viewers after both years. The biggest itch for me right now is San Jose. And I still wish the Wings could just steamroll Anaheim a couple times in the playoffs to heal some old wounds but you'd have to get Pronger, Kunitz and them back on the team.
