Goals like Kindl's are huge. An early goal from the bottom lines is always awesome because it takes some of the pressure off the scorers and that helps them play better.

Some might call this game boring but this is the kind of game I absolutely love. Wings have a substantial lead and keep it that way.

I think Bert would go after whoever runs Jimmy like that.

It's hard for me to judge in terms of the extracurricular shenanigans. I remember moments of Yzerman whining to the officials but when he did it he looked like he was really angry. Whenever Crosby complains to the officials, he really does have a whiny kind of face or look. That's just the observations I have.

As much I hate to admit it, the Yzerman comparison, at least when it comes to hockey abilities, is pretty valid.

-So he hopes to return in 2-3 weeks. -He may or may not get a conditioning stint in GR, which probably depends on how many Wings forwards are healthy. -Then he'll need some NHL games to get up to speed and in good NHL shape. How long until he's in solid NHL shape? I'm thinking he'll definitely need a set of NHL games to re-adjust himself.

I suspect that the Wings believe Brunnstrom is going to have go through the same process as those before him. If you want to be in the top-six and unless you're a Zetterberg or Datsyuk, then you're going to have to work your way up from the 4th line like Franzen, Cleary, Holmstrom, Hudler, etc. or 3rd/4th line like Filppula.

I think the definition of franchise cornerstone is extremely similar to life-long Red Wing. Or insert whatever team name there. Kris Draper for example was a franchise cornerstone because he was the unquestionable leader of the bottom six. He worked his way up, set the example and did it for a long time. I think you can be a franchise cornerstone if the organization values you so much that they keep you for a long time and trust you with certain responsibilities year after year. On the other hand, guys like Crosby and Ovechkin are franchise superstars, not just cornerstones.

Oh my God... Ericsson... Franchise cornerstone... I had to clarify that definition in my head for a quick minute. Usually when I hear franchise cornerstone I think of Yzerman, Lemieux, Crosby, Ovechkin, etc. But the term actually encompasses guys like Kris Draper as well since he was a Red Wing for so long. Perhaps Ericsson can be the best luxury 3rd pair defenseman in the league one day.

What kind of coach is Babs for that matter? I'm pretty sure he's not a player's coach. He used to call himself the "fun sponge" but doesn't anymore.
