Sammy must be crushed. I'm sure he loved playing in Vancouver, a top team in the NHL and with the Sedins and Edler, etc. What's the possibility of him making a giant fuss, not reporting to the team and the Panthers waiving him?

Kronwall's pass through Zetterberg's legs to Lidstrom was pretty sweet. Although the book on Zetterberg's shot the past few years might tell you to let him shoot that.

Seems like Leino and Brunnstrom will always be linked together. Leino also debuted for the Wings in a loss to the Warshington Capitals.

Yeah Fil did have a "I feel bad" look on his face when scoring the EN goal but I'm willing to bet that many others on the team would've felt the same way and a handful of them would express it the same way. We've seen Datsyuk make a similar face in the past when he couldn't make a safe pass to Z for an EN to add to his 2-goal game.

Well Parise would have to be much more shameless with his drinking and take more pictures of him partying with pornstars. -
It'd be interesting to see how well he would play in a 4 on 4 situation for 60 minutes. You can say that for a lot of players but I imagine with Helm's speed that he would be the most noticeable by far.

So awesome. No doubt. But he's the new Devils captain, you know? That right there is an indication that he's in it for the long haul imo. -
Shanahan? We gotta temper that comparison a little bit. Right now the safe bet for him is 4th line center, which is a far, far cry from franchise power forward.

Not sure what I sense about him yet. When he got drafted I tried to find everything I could on him like all the other picks. The term that came up in my mind was "Generic solid two-way defenseman." And I really don't mean that as a knock on him. There is definitely a need for his kind of game and I try to appreciate it to the fullest. At the same time, when it comes to pure excitement for a prospect, I just didn't experience it when researching him, which is fine too.

Me too. For me it's the kind of hate that really, really lingers. Sometimes you can hate an opponent but deep down feel like in 50 years you'll look back on the experience and say to yourself, "It wasn't so bad. I guess it had a purpose after all." I don't think I'll ever be able to say that in regards to both Anaheim series, 07 and 09. Those just reeked of a waste of life to me.

I'm pretty sure he's doing all that for you. I bet he's thinking to himself, "I may not make it to the Wings (seeing as how more than most picks simply don't make it)... But I can at least give Newfy some good old fashioned North American toughness to cheer about."

We've actually seen that a few times before but only to close out the last few seconds of a game in which they have a 1 goal lead.
