Yeah when you think about how Datsyuk and Zetterberg came straight from Europe and were able to do it on a team riddled with hall of famers it makes you realize how hard it can be to gain a Wings roster spot.

My guess is they'll focus their marketing efforts on Stamkos in such a situation. Once we start to hear his name over and over and over again on NBC telecasts we'll hate him just as much as Sid.

Couple thoughts that came to my mind... --I remember that Holmstrom-Yzerman-McCarty line and how it wasn't just Holmstrom in front of the net. All three guys would rotate in front of the net depending on the cycle. It's interesting to think about whether or not that kind of rotation in today's game would be better for teams. Or worse. --He may not be a fan favorite in Detroit but you gotta give Sergei Fedorov credit. He was great. Simply great. --I miss Stevie Y's passion and the emotion he showed at times. We don't really see that as much now with him gone. --Stevie Y's shot to the short side through the smallest holes was awesome every time.

It's been difficult sometimes to watch Z as he's still learning how to change his game a little bit because his body has worn down.

Right now, I think he can do a good job with it. And that judgment is only based on Kronner's past performance. However, Kronner now knows that with Rafi gone, he is the new "#2" dman and chances are that he'll have the most TOI on the team this year. He knows that he has to really step up because the Wings really, really need him now. When you consider that as well as all the press Kronner has been getting about being a better, more vocal leader on the bench, then it's not that unfathomable to think that he can do a great job filling in for Rafi, if not do a slightly better job. I'm more concerned about replacing Kronwall's production when he was a #3 dman than Rafalski's. Based on his contract, I'm thinking that it better be Ericsson. Or that he better take some giant steps this year offensively.
