I can't recall any details but I remember hearing stories about Scotty notoriously and constantly on Stevie's case, especially in the early years of their working relationship together. If there ever was a period in which Scotty didn't go after Stevie then it was probably in the waning years of his career.

Oh alright. I've always thought that it was a bad idea to bring up a player's name that you haven't signed yet no matter what. But maybe since this is after July 1st that it's only a bad idea in the sense that you could be driving up your own purchasing price. I know context matters too but things like this can be pretty fickle.

Much of the time the relationship between a coach and a player seems to be better if the player doesn't like the coach. It's the coach's job to push their players and squeeze every little bit of effectiveness that they can. A lot of times feelings get hurt but those who have some mental toughness use that as motivation to be better.

Wow. Which other teams out there don't have a quality #1 center? Toronto comes to mind unless they made a huge acquisition that slipped by me, which is fairly likely. -

He's just a little bit of an idiot with his twitter and complaints to the media about his coaches and so he has rubbed some fans the wrong way. The hope is that he'll learn a little bit from the notorious "Lidstrom locker room effect." Lidstrom is one of the best players to ever play the game, captain of the Red Wings and yet he shows no ego. Therefore, in theory, no one else is allowed to either. But again, it's just a theory. -
I love Callahan and I think he'll be a Red Wing one day but I don't think his transition into the AHL will be smooth at all. Far from it.
