based on the fact that they still haven't accepted a new cba yet and it is appearing like they aren't going to accept the latest proposal by the owners either. i agree, which is why i think it's ridiculous that the players are now willing to risk losing a season over contracting issues that only affect a minority of players and 90 million dollar difference in make whole.

i think he believes that the pa will be able to get a better offer from the nhl the longer this goes on
-
adater @adater Despite all the griping today, vast majority of those in the know believe a season will happen
-
either that or it's a stall tactic by fehr. neither one would surprise me
-
interesting point brought up by freidman regarding pension a few more tweets article by lebrun summarizing the day up and finally a couple more tweets before i log off for the night

from tsn i can't for the life of me figure out why the players want such a short term cba. for one, you know the owners are going to ask for more concessions next time around so why would you want to subject yourself to it after only 5 years, not to mention that the possibility of more lost wages in another lockout. and james mirtle makes a good point:: i also hope that these negotiations don't fall apart on contracting issues that only affect a small minority of players. how many players have signed a contract longer than 5 years in their careers? and this from grange jacobs is a complete moron. this guy is way worse than bettman but it's nice to see these other owners stepping up and making jacobs back down. this should have happened months ago.

never had that problem. have you tried using different browsers on your computer? somebody's gotta have a twitter or else those wouldn't be posted on here lol the only times i really use twitter is during the nhl trade deadline day and the free agency period and now obviously during this lockout those days are long gone. people want news and information as soon as possible because we have all be spoiled by the internet and twitter. they don't care about well thought out news articles.
-
agreed. it would be pretty pathetic that an issue that only affects a small minority of players would derail discussions. but it's the nhl and nhlpa we're talking about here. anything can happen

Katie Strang @KatieStrangESPN #CBA Expect contract term limits to be critical issue discussed tonight. Both sides made proposals on it earlier today
-
i think we are at the point of no return. if talks break down now, the season is gone
-
Aaron Ward @aaronward_nhl After the BOG meetings, NHLPA presented NHL with a proposal. #TSN Nick Cotsonika @cotsonika Players are waiting for NHL to respond to proposal. This presumably will tell them how far owners are really willing to bend. Nick Cotsonika @cotsonika Realistic hope is that owners counter and this continues.

probably a typo or something. not a big deal really so does this confirm that some coaches were actually talking to players?
-
wait what??? https://twitter.com/brianlawton9/ some more good news
-
i was watching the local detroit news last night and they said that it will be a year and half at the earliest before the plans are finalized
-
i didn't make sense to me either
-
i think this is going to be 4 or 5 year process. it's going to take probably at least a 2 years to finalize the plans and then another 2-3 years to build the arena
-
i think i read somewhere that the nhl's insurance company only covers a player's contract for the first 5 years. i would assume that's where they got the magical number of 5. what's kind of funny though is that the majority of players never end up signing a contract that is more than 5 years in length during their career also saw this on twitter

this is a very good sign

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie NHL-NHLPA meeting over for the night. Meetings to resume early in the morning. Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie Steve Fehr: "constructive day, best day we've had but still work to be done." Nick Cotsonika @cotsonika Good signs: Daly, Steve Fehr stand side by side, say progress is being made, stay tight-lipped about details, say talks will continue.

bettman always does a press conference after the annual board of governors meeting in which he usually talks about the state of the nhl.
-
i can see the headlines now: "crosby and the pens save the nhl season" both owners and gm's have been barred from talking to players during this lockout. maybe bettman gave them the okay though

here's an interesting article about the pens owner and crosby pushing to save the season isn't that against the rules? players and owners aren't allowed to talk to each other http://triblive.com/sports/nhl/3068862-85/sources-crosby-burkle-owners-players-nhl-lemieux-penguins-meeting-talks?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+tribunereviewpenguins+%28Penguins+Stories%29#axzz2E8pOZVkX
