fehr said yesterday that they were closer on economics than the nhl thought. yet in the memo leaked a night earlier, he said they was still a lot of work to be done, bridges to be crossed, and a significant gap in the make whole. not sure what that's all about. this might be one of the reasons why negotiations didn't go well yesterday

they have budged on the make whole but the pa didn't like that the nhl's proposal was based on projected growth. to me that's hypocrisy at it's finest. every pa proposal has been based on projected growth and they mentioned no concerns about if those numbers would be reached, but when the nhl throws the projected growth back at them, they all of a sudden have doubts about whether the numbers can be reached.
-
lebrun on today's meetings so wait. every pa proposal has been based on projected revenue growth, but when nhl makes a growth proposal, it's seen as nothing by the pa? where was this concern by the pa when they were presenting their own proposals based on revenue growth?

here's russo's blog regarding the tweet http://www.startribu.../178216921.html sure hope that's not true or else we can kiss the season goodbye. no way the owners agree to that.
-
if this is true, and fehr is holding back information, this could get ugly really quick. could also just be nhl propaganda to try to weaken the union. and this was a response by one of the players to that tweet talk about being uninformed lol
-
i don't like that the memo was leaked. what happened to staying away from all the pr stuff?
-
i don't think that they are bluffing. 240 players who played in 03-04 never played a single game after the 04 lockout

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger If NHL doesn't honour existing contracts and guarantee players $1.883 share there will be no deal anytime soon. Biggest day of negotiation. Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie Try to refrain from hyperbole but sense today is BIG on NHL labor front. Suspect we find out if this is going north or south.

Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun Hearing both sides in meeting spent first 3-plus hours on revenue sharing (among teams); picking up from last night. Not yet on Make Whole.
-
these kinds of meetings should have started many months ago. marathan sessions and no pr bs. i can see the light at the end of the dark tunnel.

Winter Classic Ticket Holders, What are you going to do?

i kept mine. i guess that makes me a terrible person. oh well -
that is a good article but it still doesn't prove that the owners had already planned a lockout like the poster i originally quoted suggested, just that the players and owners had a strained relationship and that the owners were already playing the pr spin machine in case there was a lockout.
-
the union was perfectly fine with keeping things the way they were. the nhl were the ones pushing for re alignment.
-
here's a article by mark specter speculating on who is or isn't against the lockout. most interesting part
-
how does the re alignment prove that the owners wanted a lockout? the owners had nothing to gain by souring relations with the nhlpa on purpose at that point. if they really wanted the lockout all they had to do was reject the pa proposals. if anything the pa rejected it so that they could have a bargaining chip( and yes i know about what the pa said to the media on why they rejected it).
-
yes and the owners allowed that to happen.
-
he's paid 8 mil a year to be the whipping boy so that the owners don't take all the flack. if the owners didn't like him, he wouldn't be commissioner.

Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun Still not finalized 100 percent, but NHLPA/NHL tentatively scheduled to resume talks Tuesday in NYC

Aaron Ward @aaronward_nhl According to source, CBA meetings still taking place at this hour. #TSN

@tpanotchCSN: Union source says both sides still talking. Get ready to turn clocks back for 1 extra hr to talk! by my estimation of watching twitter timeline, this meeting started around 4pm. so they're going on 7hrs now. these are the kinds of meetings that should have been going on months ago

Katie Strang @KatieStrangESPN #CBA Talks still ongoing between Bill Daly and Steve Fehr by my estimation, they've been meeting for at least 6-8 hours. something good has got to come out of this.
