yea i'm not sure i buy it either considering all the media spin going on during this lockout. but it does support my theory during this whole lockout that the owners are more to blame for this than bettman, which is why i think the whole idea of sacrifcing an entire season just to fire bettman is ridiculous. pretty much sums up this whole lockout. both sides want it thier way or the highway

if the part about bettman not being allowed to offer up anymore conecessions is true, that kind of blows the whole "it's all bettman's fault" theory out of the water. it would mean that the owners are actually calling the shots unlike what some people around here want to believe.

The best pr either side could have is to do get a deal done. I wonder who on the union side is saying a deal will be done in November? Like I said, the owners voted for the lockout, not Bettman. The owners are the ones who gave bettman esstentially infinite power. Imo As long as you have those supposed 8 hard line owners in there, we are going to be going through this same thing down the road, regardless who the commissioner is

they get a CBA deal done and back to playing hockey along with getting paychecks again. yes i do. getting rid of bettman does not guarantee that we will not be in the same situation down the road. some of these hardline owners would need to go too

yes they did link both sides have been guilty of masking offers to look better than it actually is for the other side. that's the sad and ironic part about the lockout. the league and players are fighting for less money each day this lockout drags on for

It shouldn't matter if they thought that there might be trouble down the road, fact is the players signed binding contracts and should be paid for those contracts. Period

It appears the unions 3rd proposal, where it is 50/50 in year 1 isn't actually 50/50. NHL estimates its actually comes out to 56-57 percent on year 1. Union admitted that it did not run the numbers on the 3rd proposal. I think this is revenge for the owners disguised "whole" provision in their offer from tuesday

All of whom are despised by the players and fans in their respective leagues. Being a commissioner is a thankless job in pro sports it seems.

??? what did the luntz group have to do with promoting this proposal?? if anything the luntz group damaged the league's image due to the leaks of the focus group.

they had been working on this proposal for quite a while. before that focus group stuff came out.

fehr let this play right into the owners hand by refusing to come up with another proprosal. now fehr and pa have to work with the owner's offer and face public backlash

that's nonsense. especially considering the wings have the winter classic this year. that's the biggest reason why i wouldn't sacrifice this season to remove bettman.
