The idea of trading Datsyuk for any of those plugs is just absolute nonsense. Stop it, seriously. Kassian or Edler...even Bieksa wouldn't be bad to have but the asking price for any of them would be absurd and I just don't want them bad enough that I'd want to give anyone good up for them. Burrows bites, we don't have room for the Sedins and their declining production, and the thought of Kesler diving around the ice in a Wings jersey makes me feel physically ill.

I started this thread after seeing the Borque elbow. I don't care about the Abdelkader suspension, it's over and done with. I also didn't mention that suspension in the original post. This isn't first grade childishness this is confusion about why certain hits that are such a blatant violation of the rules aren't being looked at.

I know it's not just Shanahan but seriously the department of player safety has missed a lot of things in the playoffs so far. What are some of the dirtiest things you've seen go unpunished so far? This one stands out for me

How can stuff like this not be looked at? It seems like if it's a hockey play it gets looked at but if it's just a good ol' fashioned attempt at assault the league doesn't care.

I'm surrounded by Canucks fans and all I ever hear is how much they hate their goalie (regardless of which one is in net) but while their goaltending is definitely an issue, they lost that cup in 2010 because of how I disciplined they are. Boston made them mad and they couldn't keep their cool.

The problem is that every hit needs to be looked at separately. I'm not comparing Abby's hit to any other hit. He got suspended and while I didn't think it was dirty, it's completely reasonable for the league to make the call that it was.I mention the Weber hit because it is a perfect example of why people get upset about suspensions. The league cannot say that they are worried about head injuries or that they are going to suspend hits where the head was targeted if they are going to blatantly ignore cases like that one.

I knew this suspension was coming. I don't like the hit but I also don't think it was dirty. There's no way Shanahan could suspend Gryba for what was obviously a clean hit and then not suspend Abby for his questionable one. I'm upset to lose Abby but if he got nothing and we won the series it would be the only thing anybody remembered about it. I don't want to have to deal with people saying Shanahan gave this round of the playoffs to his ex team. I want to beat them without Abby and have them left reaching for excuses as to how the 7th seed Red Wings managed to kill their post season.

Can't stand the word "cellies" just for the record.It doesn't take excitement out of the game in my opinion. And there's a big difference between showing excitement and being kind of classless about it and I think a lot of players cross the line. Also I think your statement is kind of ridiculous. They should want more goals because it helps their TEAM...not because they want to feel like a rock star.

I like that the Wings don't retire a lot of numbers so I'd say no to retiring #13 but there is no question in my mind that he should be in the Hall of Fame one day. When it comes to the HOF I don't think it should just be a matter of numbers. There has to be room for players who were extraordinary in a way that numbers just can't reflect.

I don't mind a small celebration, I don't expect every guy to skate away like he doesn't care. I can handle when guys go a little bigger with their first goal, buzzer beaters, overtime goals, or highlight reel beautiful goals but I never like dropping to one knee and making a big production of it.

If we win on Thursday I will buy a fake beard and I will sport that thing during games for the remainder of our playoff run.

Several thoughts: Settle down on Kindl. The kid is not "terrible". That said, our rookies looked terrified and confused so I hope their nerves subside a bit and they figure it out. I'd like to see Bert in even if it's on a lower line...I have a good feeling about him in this series. Hiller was way better than Hiller. Where did that come from? God I hate Corey Perry sooo much. Can't believe anybody is bagging on Ericsson after that since he was one of the players I was actually really pleased with during this game. Lastly, I still think Detroit will take Anaheim in 6.

I know that superstitions are silly but once they're in your head it's difficult to shake the feeling that my arbitrary actions somehow affect the outcome of the game. I wear a red wings tee to sleep in, wear red wings hoodies but NEVER my jersey while watching games. I watch overtime on mute. Knock on wood for last minute of any game where we lead by one. Those are the main ones but like others have said, any random behavior that I deem to be good luck I will continue until a streak ends. And I'd totally grow a playoff beard if I could. I should also keep being alive since they've made the playoffs every year of my life.

Last night I had a dream that Detroit was up 3-1 in the series against Chicago so here's hoping that I've become a psychic. LGW!

I just...MUST we start a new thread every week with a player by player breakdown of who we should keep? I am getting this constant déjà vu every time I read these. Jimmy Howard steals games for us on a regular basis. If we had a better team in front of him he would be a Vezina contender in my opinion. The only other point that bugs me a lot is Eaves. Is he our best player? No, but he's been out for a long time and if these last few games are any indication of what he's capable of then I think he could have a long term place with the Wings.
