Holland has only traded two roster players since 2002
Ally replied to Dave Anderson's topic in General
Holland worked his tail off trying to get Suter. Let it go. -
This lockout makes me long for the days of complaining about Ericsson's refusal to use his size and Franzen's refusal to be awake during regular season games. Ahh, good times.

Most people on the forum have very different opinions on how much should be given to either side and if a group of people with nothing to lose can't agree then you gotta appreciate how much harder it is for a larger group with billions on the line. I know we don't know every financial detail of the league but just for fun if you were Bettman or Fehr what would your general proposal be?
-
Do you think the owners would take the last offer from the players if the NHLPA agreed to accept the realignment plan that the league put forward a while back?
-
This is really exciting but I've learned that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. I think this is a huge step forward in negotiations and I REAAALLY want this to end the lockout but until we get more details I'm not getting my hopes too high. Did the proposal say how HRR will be defined?
-
Please let this be it.
-
I think the owners should be compromising more since they are the ones looking to gain from the negotiations. As has been stated before in this thread, the players aren't looking to take more but they are trying to lose less.

I wish Bryz had described the contracts as humangous big.

I don't know how medical insurance works, are the guys going to have to pay all their medical bills out of pocket during the lockout or would they have some sort of insurance other than what the NHL gave them?
-
Every time I hear either side talk about this they're throwing little jabs. Come on boys, less chirping more bringing back my damn hockey!

http://blogs.thescore.com/nhl/2012/10/01/pavel-datsyuk-the-only-guy-left-we-all-agree-on/ Nice article about how well-liked Pav (and a few other star Red Wings) are. The video isn't great quality but I'll never get sick of Datsyuk highlights.

I like red at home. Your barn, your colors. I love our sweaters for the fact that no matter which one they're wearing their arms(wings) are always red.
-
Some people have suggested that the owners could just replace their cattle with different guys who are willing to play for less. I think perhaps these people should watch the NFL and reexamine the idea of replacing skilled people with less skilled people.
-
This is a problem since we don't HAVE Datsyuk for 5 years. We've got maybe 4 with him left, I'd rather retool a bit and be good for the rest of his career personally.
-
I couldn't vote between the two (Federov and Datsyuk). Looking at stats, Fedorov should win, thinking about which player gives me goosebumps with the things he does, Datsyuk wins. I'm calling it a tie.
-
Anybody else think how much this probably sucks for Nail Yakupov? First year that you're probably gonna play in the NHL, people already listing your name beside Eberle, Hall, and Nugent-Hopkins and then a lockout comes and you have to postpone your dream.
-
I almost think that it would benefit the Wings because, as the above posters said, we start strong before injuries. However, most of the guys are playing elsewhere during the lockout so they're still risking injury. As far as I can see, the only way a shorter season benefits the team is that guys like Eaves and even Helm with his wrist get more time to get to 100% without feeling rushed.

Wings to Europe: Tracking which DRW players are playing where
Ally replied to evilmrt's topic in General
I'm glad they're able to play, especially the older guys to keep them sharp but I said yesterday that when the Russians start leaving you know that negotiations aren't going to close quickly. If they thought this would be resolved within the month they probably wouldn't leave. -
My hometown is small but we've had quite a few NHL players from here. Jon Klemm, Brad Lukowich, and Rob Niedermayer and Scott Niedermayer are some I can think of off the top of my head but I know there's more. There's a few like Stoll that lived here when they played on our WHL team too but that doesn't count. I do feel like I'm missing a big name guy here..... Oh yeah, and Steve Yzerman
-
I always think that if you don't vote then you can't complain about whoever is in office...I'm gonna go with the same theory here and say that if we as fans don't support the league then we have no right to complain about what the league does.
-
Definitely a huge downer even thinking about that, it's a big part of why I'm extra upset about the lockout because I know his career won't last forever and I'd like to see as much of him as possible until then. Either way, Dats is a loyal guy and as long as he's in the NHL I think he will play for Detroit. It won't be Kenny's fault when he leaves.
-
I wasn't disagreeing about Bettman being bad for the NHL or even that he is a big part of why the lockout is coming. I was disagreeing about boycotting spending any money on the NHL. If league revenues dropped for a season Bettman still wouldn't be fired. He is in place because as much as we hate him, the owners don't. If the owners get their way it will be because of his ultimatums and lockouts and then they'll have more money and love him even more.
-
Besides the fact that he can't negotiate a new contract yet....Datsyuk has made it clear that he doesn't want to be playing at 40 and that he wants to play in Russia again before the end of his career so to answer your question...No, Kenny can't lock him into the 2017-2018 season and it will have nothing to do with his ability as a GM if he can't.
-
I agree Bettman is the worst thing SO far, if the fans stop watching then that becomes the worst thing to happen to the sport. We aren't facing a lockout because the fans put money in their pockets, we're facing a lockout because everyone wants the bigger piece of the pie. If we stop putting money into the league then yea, sure, the pie gets smaller but it's not going to change the fact that people want the bigger cut. This lockout would be looming if revenue had been down for the past 7 years too.

I'll still support the NHL after this. Still gonna buy merchandise, try to see games, pay for center ice. Being mad at the league as a whole hasn't clouded my memory enough to forget that I love hockey a lot. Hockey fans spend a lot of time saying "i'll stop watching if _______ occurs" but I won't ever actually stop until the game stops being exciting for me (so I'll be around at least as long as Datsyuk plays) When hockey is back, I'll be waiting...if not impatiently
