The Red Wings own version of Harry Potter is with us for another 4 years?! I am very happy, worth the price in my opinion.

I'm going to miss Lids so much. So many players (and people in general) could learn a thing or two from the way he speaks. When you're being interviewed about how great you are and you can acknowledge your talent without sounding arrogant, that's pretty great.

Did I miss something? MAYBE you can blame the knee injury on size but I'm almost positive that a skate to the arm isn't size related.

I think this is one of those things where size doesn't matter as much as how you use it. I could watch Datsyuk check Chara all day long.

Not gonna lie, my eyes welled up when I read this. Lids is one of the reasons I first fell in love with the Wings, so glad I got to go to a game this year. Tomorrow already sucks

I really like Nyquist. I think he's going to be pretty impressive. When I think "make it big" I'm not necessarily saying Datsyuk level good but just better than most.

I'm not talking about pinning the whole organization on two guys. I'm just saying that it makes no sense to say that our future is any less certain than any other team and that it would have an effect on those guys wanting to be in Detroit.

I think Luongo would do a lot better playing in the U.S. than for a Canadian team... He's a really emotional goalie and as soon as he lets in one bad goal the fans in Van get down on him which isn't easy for anyone probably but he can't take it and then he plays worse. I just think he'd do better playing for a team with less finicky fans and Canadians are pretty intense about hockey so it's a lot of pressure.

This is one of those things where I know it would be a bad idea but I just like him so much. I'd just like to see a Canuck get flipped like Gaborik.

The Wings are good at turning good players into great players. We have some promising prospects anyway so I wouldn't be so negative about them.

I hate to get my hopes up but it's hard not to. I may be in the minority thinking the Wings can pull this off but I'm pretty optimistic about it. I don't get the people saying that players wouldn't want to come here because of an "uncertain future"...wouldn't signing these guys improve that future? invalid argument

I'm with you on this. I realize you can't win the cup without a solid goalie but it's not nearly as exciting to watch this year because the teams weren't nearly as strong offensively as they have been in other playoffs.

And I wasn't saying that the wings can't improve but I don't think they've done absolutely nothing in the past 3 years. They've accumulated money by not overspending on players that weren't essential to their success for one thing. Maybe the Wings haven't changed as much as some would like but I'm not going to be so quick to write off the things they HAVE done (such as developing players from the farm)

I think you're overestimating how much trouble the Wings are in.

I've said it in another thread, and I'll say it again...I would love to have Stoll. The more I watch him play during these playoffs, the more I like him honestly. If there's anything the Wings need it's a guy with some heart...it wouldn't hurt to have that guy also be great on the faceoff.

I think it's a bummer that Detroit was out after the first round...but it happens. We really have been spoiled with such great success and now setting records at home and making the playoffs for 21 years in a row doesn't satisfy anybody. Just think how many players would have sold their souls to even be a part of the playoffs and we have an entire team full of guys who have never experienced the crushing blow that is coming in ninth in the conference... I'm happy with our team and even though it could be improved (what team can't be?) I'm not worried about the management ever letting this "decline" get very far. If you wanna see a decline go ask the Oilers how life has been since 90'

The s*** sandwhich being....the team? the idea that the team is awesome? I don't see why some of you bother being "fans" of a team that you hate so much about? this is beyond constructive criticism at this point.

I can't disagree more with the posters saying that Abby is better than Stoll (or Stall as I guess we're calling him here) I would love to have Stoll as a Wing As for modeling after the Kings, yea that's a bit silly in my opinion. Aren't we still a team that other teams model themselves after? (I'm lookin at you SJS). When the Kings play better than us for a long time then maaaybe look at trying out their system. That said, the Kings show up for every game and have a lot of heart...wouldn't mind having guys that looked like they cared a little more.
