No way he wins this one, sadly. I would love a datsyuk vs datsyuk final

Which UFA would help the Wings the most?
wingsfan4795 replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
I think this is a really good free agent pool. There aren't superstars, but there are a ton of good second line guys. We rarely sign superstars anyway. Also, it could turn unto a great free agent year with all the potential buyouts. Heatley, Richards, lecavalier(?) Etc... -
Read the post I quoted.Either way it doesn't matter because we probably won't get any of these guys. Not because Holland will strike out, there just isn't any room in the lineup

Horton would ne great if your willing to for up 6mill+ per year for likely several years. Not sure Detroit can afford that unless they buy guys out or trade. I would love Horton though -
What you said made absolutely no sense. If Neal signed an 11 year contract, it would be for a hell of a lot more than 30 mill. If franzen signed a 5 year contract, it would be for a hell of a lot less than 43 mill.Once Nepal's 5 years are up, he'll sign another contract. You realize that right? Over the course of 11 years, he will make a lot more than franzen
-
Exactly. We all know that nyquist has the potential to be a serious threat, but until he proves himself he won't get big money
-
So I guess we haven't had a great player in quite a while. I guess there's only about 1-3 "great" players in the league. By those standards, I'm ok with sub-great.I agree that franzen hasn't lived up to his former playoff years, but the last couple years were kind of weird for the wings. Last year nobody played very well and we were out in 5 games. This year we got perhaps the most balanced scoring we've ever had. Nobody had great point production, but everyone chipped in enough to get the job done (minus a couple games at the end) I think franzen plays well with the right guys around him. Wasn't he at his best with Datsyuk and Zetterberg on his line? We didnt have the top 6 depth the last couple years to put that line together. Hopefully nyquist and Brunner (or someone else) can prove themselves as good top 6 players this year and Babcock will be able to put franzen with the right guys to get him going
-
Btw, we will be slight buyers if anything, making us the most talented "buyers" in the league
-
About 1/3 of the teams will be sellers in one way or another. 1/3 of teams will be buyers in one way or another. 1/3 of the teams will more or less stand pat. Most of the sellers are currently good teams. Most of the buyers are pretty bad right now. I predict next year will be the most parity the NHL has ever seen as a lot of the teams will more or less even out.

usa will be about as gritty as they come. That, paired with 3 of the top 5/6 goalies will win them gold -

Your decision on where to put dekeyser was way out of left field....
-
No, they're going to be in serious cap trouble next year so they can't really take much salary in return. I read that if they don't move Malkin this year, they'll likely have to choose between him and letang next year

https://mobile.twitter.com/MaStrozyk/statuses/341950487207227393#!/MaStrozyk/statuses/341950487207227393 3 teams interested in Jimmie Ericsson from Sweden. He's our Ericsson's brother so I wouldnr be surprised if we're one of the three. He's 6'2', 212lbs and described as a gritty forward who likes to go into the hard areas. The downside is that he's 33 years old. http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=1103 He could be a cheap solution if we strike out on some of the popular free agents -
If they were smart they would, but maybe you're right. There are some pretty stupid people running that organization

It isn't for nothing, its so they don't have to take on a star player's cap hit when that star player isn't even playing. I can't tell if its going to happen, but if it does I totally see Holland going after him. If I recall, Hossa really enjoyed his time here and I'm sure he would be glad to be back. We all know how much Holland likes ex-wings too
