Does it matter if we overpayed? They're short term contracts and we have the cap space to afford it short term. Their contracts will come off the books in time for our young players to start getting raises -

If any D gets traded it'll be kindl or smith but I really don't see either of those trades happening. Would be great to see kindl traded though. I don't think Beleskey will be worth the amount of money or term he'll inevitably get. The trade options at forward are far more intriguing than the UFA options but I'm not holding my breath for any trades and I won't be upset if we stand pat -

I think if holland signed anyone people on here would be complaining about it. There's nobody in this UFA class that is worth overpaying for. I would love to have green but he's going to get paid way too much and that kind of overpayment wouldn't be worth throwing a wrench in the development of our prospects. At least one of those guys (ouellette, marchenko, sproul, Jensen) needs to get significant playing time next year -

They really just have to weigh whether or not any UFAs are worth stalling the development of the prospects. I don't think anyone is except maybe green or franson, and that's only if they can be had for reasonable cap hit and term (which I don't think is possible). I'm fine with them standing pat -

I had a lot of chances to see Anthony Greco last year at Ohio state. Interesting invite. I don't know if he has the all around game to make it in the NHL but he was the fastest player not named Larkin in any game I watched last year. Fun to watch. -
Any red wing winning the Calder next year would be a stretch with mcdavid and Eichel coming up. Maybe we should hold them back one more year so they can go for the award in 2017

Ooh are we calling him svech? I like that. I would have loved for us to try to trade up for Werenski but it would be hard for us to move up that much so oh well. I wouldn't be surprised to see us trade for a defenseman now. Then again, holland said nothing is on the horizon...
