Hockey News: Detroit has the easiest schedule
wingsfan4795 replied to Jersey Wing's topic in General
The source doesn't say Detroit has the easiest schedule because of the teams they play. Their measurement is all about back to backs -

This obviously wasn't what anyone wanted coming into the offseason, but I think some people are overreacting. Every offseason, some teams get better and others get worse. Can you really say we got any worse? I would say we stayed almost exactly the same. The only guy we really lost was legwand and he only played for a couple months. There isn't really a spot for him anyway. Overall, I would say the east got weaker. Boston got considerably worse, and I would argue that Pittsburgh and New York got worse as well. The only team in the east that I think got a lot better is Washington and does anyone think Washington can be any kind of threat anymore with no goalies and Ovi no longer caring about anything but goals? Of course this could just be wishful thinking, but doesn't it seem like we're lined up to make a trade for a top 4 defenseman? We've been connected to several top guys (Myers, Yandle, Green(?), Edler(?)) through various rumors from credible sources. I won't call this offseason a failure until Holland at least has a chance to pull off a trade. I think Detroit will be a borderline playoff team at worst. At best, they will enjoy a less injury-plagued season with Nyquist and the kids continuing to break out and with Mantha getting some playing time. I could see us potentially contending for the 1-2 spot in the Atlantic Division if we can avoid injuries (and aren't we due for some luck from the hockey gods on the injury front?) -

What does your source say?

Why not set a ridiculous price for in-conference teams? That almost guarantees he'll end up in the west. If an eastern team is stupid enough to take the deal then you get a great value

NHL Draft 2014: Rounds 2-7 **MOD WARNING POST 51**

Am I reading this right? Holmstrom's midterm rank was 50 (second round) and his final rank was 90 (third round), yet we got him with pick 196? How does someone fall that far? -
Alfie informs Wings he wants to return

I think blaming holland / babs for hypothetical situations that you made up in your head could be classified as insanity as well -
People seem to forget about the Dekeyser signing. I think that will turn out to be our biggest steal of the last 5-10 yearsI would like Niskanen as long as the contract doesn't exceed $6.00M AAV

This one is game 6 -
Even if he isn't an instant improvement, at least he can move the puck and create offense. I don't think I have unrealistic expectations, but I understand the concern considering the mentality of other posters
-
I'm not saying I would rather have him than one of the free agents, I just wouldn't be upset if they gave him a shot. Everyone has to get their start sometime
-
I know they're going to look to improve the D through trade or free agency. I just don't know if there will be enough available that holland will bite on. What would you think about getting into a bidding war over Niskanen? In my opinion he is overrated. His recent hot streak and the lack of depth in the UFA pool will cause GMs to grossly overpay. I would happily take him at 4-4.5 mill max but I doubt he'll be that cheap
-
Maybe, but I thought sproul looked like an improvement over kindl and lashoff when he played, and he is right handed. I would be happy if they sign a good RH defenseman, but I wouldn't be too upset if they hold on to what they have

They actually went up 3-0 in all 4 series that year. And right now they're looking a lot like they did that year -
I'm not Holland. If it were my choice I would dump them all except maybe Quincey (if he would be willing to take a pay cut, which probably won't happen). As far as puck movers go, I would take Niskanen if he could be had at a reasonable price (he can't) or Boyle if he would take a 1-2 year deal I would have no problem with holland replacing Quincey, kindl and lashoff with sproul, ouellette and Marchenko
