After Bruce the Bum, I think nearly anyone would be an improvement. Glad Oates got his chance though.

I'm not super high on him, but he does show signs of decent ability from time to time. I think he'd bolster our toughness a bit. At the crossroads the Wings are at now, every little improvement will make a difference. I really believe that we either greatly improve our team this off-season or we do nothing and watch everyone else get noticeably better.

hey, just saying....I wouldn't be too shocked if at least 4 of those things happen. 1) fairly obvious Lids is leaving 2) Homer will likely follow 3) Stuart wants to go out west anyway that only leaves one of the following: Hudler getting a raise here, Hasek signing with us (doubtful and I hope it never crosses Holland's mind), the Meech/Lebda thing was not serious at all, and finally, us screwing up and not paying truckloads of cash for Suter/Parise/both.

So wait....Lidstrom retires and Stuart waddles off to southern California later this summer. Holmstrom decides to follow Nick off into the sunset. I can see it now....Hudler re-ups for a hefty raise, Hasek gets a 1 year $2m deal, we pass on Suter and Parise because they want too much money. On the plus side, now Holland can ink Lebda and Meech during free agency!

At least we are sure that we can never finish worse than 4th in the division...that team is doomed for a long time without Nash. They didn't have much to draw talent in the first place, and with Nash packing his bags at the end of the season (likely) they are really going to have nothing to build a team around.

Just in....Holland trades a bucket of octopi and a 7th round conditional pick for Crosby, with the condition being that Kronwall gets to paste Crosby against the glass no less than 4 times per practice. Not confirmed yet....

Why does it seem like injuries always screw us toward the end of the season? If STL beats us out for the division I could see us exiting in the first round...

Hey guys, I've been a long-time Wings fan and have "stalked" this forum for awhile but never joined until now. Anyway, living in Illinois I get to deal with Hawks and Blues fans constantly and can't seem to get to Detroit to catch a home game. For my dad's birthday, I got us tickets to the Wings and Blues in St. Louis in April. This isn't my first NHL game attendance, but will be my first Wings game. Does anyone know which hotel the Wings stay at when in St. Louis, or what the best way would be to possibly catch a few Wings for an autograph to compliment my soon to be finished Detroit sports-themed bar at home? I guess it goes to show that you don't have to be a prick to be successful in this league...I think out of all of the professional sports hockey probably has the greatest number of "gentlemen".
