Sorry. I knew I was toeing the line. I just couldn't resist.
-
Tell that to their slaves.

Of course you didn't see it that way. You and I went to American schools. We aren't going to sell our story as one where bunch of rich guys were trying to dodge taxes. I wasn't even saying they were wrong to do that (they did plenty of other things that were wrong). My point was only that resisting the government isn't always wrong, especially when that government is oppressive.

I'm sorry for taking this further off the rails. Why? You have no reason to apologize. I don't even know you, but I cannot say enough how much I respect you for being receptive to an opposing viewpoint. Too many people, when faced with error, only retreat further into their beliefs. Instead of doing that you faced it head-on. For the record, Mandela is an overrated sellout. That's not something that is wrong with communism.

What's your opinion on guys like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, or John Adams?

Wings call up McCollum, assign Mrazek to Grand Rapids

I'm pretty sure he was the highest rated goalie prospect in his draft. -
Thanks

Quick, back to the bandwagon.

I'm surprised so many people want kesler on the wings. He has been pretty much invisible, when not injured, since '11.

I would love to have a player like subban. He pretty much put the team on his back. Edit: of course, none of it matters without price playing out of his mind. Maybe, putting the team on his back Is a little strong, but I stand by it. H -
People were saying he was considering going back to Sweden, within minutes of the trade going through. I don't think it's true, but if he does go to Sweden, I would say that is pretty good evidence that someone was aware of his intentions. I think the whole going to Sweden thing was to take heat off of the front-office. A lot of people use Jarnkrok's potential exit as justification for the trade. That's why I addressed the possibility of bad faith.

It's hard for me to remain objective on this one, because I was opposed to the trade from the very beginning. There is no way to know, with any certainty, whether we would have made the playoffs without him. However, based on Legwand and Ironhook's production after the trade, I think it is very likely that we would have made the playoffs either way. I'm going to say it wasn't worth it. Everytime a new player has a slow start, we always hear how he's adjusting to the system. Irhonhook was already familiar with our system, because he played it, under Blashill. I don't think the outcome in the playoffs would have been any different. But, it's just bad strategy, at this stage of rebuilding, to trade players with potential for players on the decline. With the way we use centers, we could find a place for him. If he does go to Sweden, we will probably get sanctioned for negotiating in bad faith. This does not mean it was the wrong move, at the time (even though I think it was). None of us know what information the front-office was privy to when the trade was made. That being said, I think kenny was just too scared to put another rookie in that position. Ever since LA won, Kenny's mantra has been "we just need to get in." He probably felt we had a legitimate chance to make a run, and he trusted a vet more than a young guy. To those of you saying "get over it"; don't read the thread. If we should get over something just because it's done, that would eliminate the whole purpose of a forum. If you want to defend the trade, please do.

I'm pretty sure I heard something like that. -
Sure, it's debatable when you take that one sentence and present it without any context. When you read the sentence, following the one you quoted, it becomes clear that I was saying Franzen's numbers don't tell the whole story (I.e. he's not as valuable as the stats say he is). I don't understand why you're quoting my post in such a way that makes it appear that I am defending franzen.

GDT ECQF - Game 4 - Bruins 3 at Red Wings 2 (F/OT)

I was never on board either, until now. It doesn't make sense to keep him. He doesn't have the drive to be a top six player, and he's nowhere near gritty or physical enough to play on the bottom six. -
You don't deserve to be flamed for having an opinion. However, acting as if franzen is above reproach does nothing to help your argument. He definitely had a good streak, but has been invisible since. This will be the wings' last opportunity to buy him out. It is a decision that does deserve to be weighed objectively. He definitely provides good value for the numbers he produces. However, you cannot deny that a lot of his numbers are inflated by scoring in bunches and/or during garbage time. I'm not saying that's how he gets all of his points, but it definitely affects his statistics. Also, the guy's playoff production (his justification for being here for some) have dropped off the cliff. He had 59 points in 51 playoff games 08-10. Since then, he has 11 points in 31 playoff games, and has been a minus player in every playoff since 2010. I don't know what baseball has to do with anything, but those are not good numbers for hockey. Franzen has shown a very sharp decline. When you couple these facts with the length of his contract, you have to at least considers buyout.

Don't be. It's not your fault. The players are the only ones who should be depressed, and deserve to be, after that game. It's as if they expected Boston to give up after two goals, just as the wings did in game 3. -

Hahaha. Everyone here is too busy being right to reasonably consider the validity of statement with which they disagree. -

I understand. The loss definitely sucks, especially against a bunch of s***-bags, with the most insufferable fan base in the world. In the end, we have no control over the outcome. The only people who should be emotionally wrecked are the ones who decided to quit playing hockey as soon as the faced some adversity. -

You're making all sorts of inferences here. I can't speak for anyone else here, but I didn't blame cujo for anything. Nonetheless, even if people defending Howard, blamed Cujo, that has ZERO to do with howard's responsibility for the games. To argue otherwise is fallacious. Furthermore, you don't know what the players are thinking or feeling. If you're right, and they do "lose interest" after being down by a goal in the first period, they should look into another line of work. -

We must be watching different games. I saw the same lack of urgency after that goal as I did before, Literally nothing changed except the score. Hell, if we changed our game, I would have been ecstatic.
