The Wings are due for a guy to come up and play great. I mean a talented top six guy. I have a good feeling about Mursak. It would be great if Hudler could get it going too. If not, he goes to Grand Rapids (waived) when Cleary or Datsyuk return. I think Franzen and Bertuzzi need to get hot again, also!

Zetterberg is only on pace for 25 goals or so after last nights. He will probably have closer to 30-35. Just to note, THIS thread was started in addition to an already existing game thread and wasn't locked. While I understand that I added links to my personal website as a means of self-promotion (which is something I have done numerous times over the years) I am not sure that alone merits getting it locked. I didn't post that just to direct traffic. I had stated my personal feeling about something in hopes of starting a discussion. I'm sure this will get me locked too. But, I am a little surprised and ticked that it took so little to lock my thread. Especially, since I am not the only person to create a thread that could be discussed in the GDT and also add a link to another website.

I watched the whole game tonight pissed that Z was a -2 and not kicking Phoenix's ass like he usually does. Thank god he kicked into a higher gear in OT and worked for the winner. He redeemed himself tonight!

Lol. Slowing down based on what? His outstanding 2007-08 season? Here are the facts. Last season he was nearly a point per game player. And his back spasms haven't been sited as a problem for a few years now. I think he plays his game differently and isn't going to the net as much. He used to get a lot of his goals hanging out beside the crease or between the circles. Now he seems to spend a lot more time puck handling around the perimeter, along the boards, behind the net, looking for someone to set up. He is more of a playmaker than a sniper, and really always was. I have no doubt that if he and Dats stay on the same line, Z will have another great season, and all the naysayers will be on his nuts again in the spring.

Aside from being a motivated newly wed.... Z should have a "rebound" year based solely on these numbers! I think Hank could finally hit the 50 goal mark. Pavel could get 100 pts. Please keep this line together, Mike!

Zetterberg hurt his futcher? Damn it! Can't he stay healthy for one season? This guy is a bust. This contract sucks.

Z scored 43 last time they won the cup, playing a defensively minded game. It is completely reasonable to assume he could score 7 more goals, especially if he played a full 82 games. It isn't probable, but it could happen. I think he will at least have a new career high...44+

Realistically, if he plays healthy most of the season on the top line with Datsyuk, he could easily score 50. The last time he was on Datsyuk's line for the majority of the time was the year prior to Hossa. That year Z had 43 goals. He stated after that year that he wanted to be a 50 goal scorer. But then the Wings got Hossa and Z was a 2nd line shut-down center with lesser linemates and less ice-time. Last season was a down year with a few injuries and a decimated line-up. I say there is a great chance the team and Zetterberg have "comeback" years. As for Grigorenko being on the list before... I have no idea where that came from. I have gone back and can't find the erroneous box score. I guess I just made a mistake and listed him, despite knowing the fact that they never played together.

I know. It's a shame. Z would be a Conn Smythe Candidate again if this team advanced. Not enough depth and some weak goals killed their chances. But this thread is about Hank. 13 points in ten games while shutting down top lines (+7) is pretty much bad ass.
