    Detroit Red Wings @ Vancouver

My Dad and I come up from Puyallup for this trip, too. I often wondered about "running into" players. Went to last years Feb 23rd game that about half of the Wings were out of the line-up for, and Jimmy Howard played in. After the Nuck's beat our AHL team, you would have thought they won a playoff series. The fans were ass-clowns. Its usually a real good time though...beautiful city too.

    How healthy is Hank?

The whole team has played poorly...Z has been stuck with Samuelsson...and still he has 5 points in 5 games during the losing streak. I think he is playing just fine.

    Slava Kozlov or Mike Comrie

I doubt it will happen but I'd love to see Koz back in Detroit. We could have a Russian line/ Swede Line 1-2 punch Samuelsson(Franzen)-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Kozlov-Datsyuk-Grigorenko Maltby-Draper-Cleary Hudler-Filppula-Franzen(Samuelsson) Kopecky

    Let the Kids Play

I'm with you... The players we "lost" made the team younger, healthier, and maybe hungrier. Lang- 36yo floater, prone to coughing up the puck who doesn't like the coaches style Schneider-38 yo one dimensional D-man prone to coughing up the puck who doesn't like the coaches style Bertuzzi- 33 yo w/ bad back and neck and a load of baggage (although I would have liked to have seen him return) Calder- doesn't bring much that we don't already have So why not give the young guys a chance to play until they prove they can't...then you have tons of cap space to make moves later. Only huge problem is forward depth if your lineup looks something like this... Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Cleary-Filpulla-Samuelsson Maltby-Draper-Franzen Kopecky-Hudler-Grigorenko Ellis Nobody else in the system is ready for a call-up

    Preds vs. Wings March 13th

Did ya forget about the game in Detroit on the 6th? The one Hasek will start? I think the Wings will win 5-2.

    MacDonald claimed by Bruins

If Liv was a trade piece, which I doubt...it won't be affected by this. Not with Jimmy Howard in Grand Rapids, and Daniel Larssons in Sweden. The Wings are deep in goalie prospects. Minus Macdonald.

Hasek won't get back to back starts

I guess in theory Hasek at home vs Edmonton is more likely a win than vs Preds in Nashville. I just don't want to see Forsberg have his breakout game in black and "piss" (whatever color that is) against Ozzie and the Wings. I'd rather go into nashville and make a statement. I know Osgood can win games, but it sure must make Nashville happier to face him than Hasek, especially when the rest of the Wings may be tired.

Hasek won't get back to back starts

WTF? Why would you not use our starter against Nashville?

    Let's just assume.............

Detroit over San Jose in 6 games. If they are gonna do anything this post season they need to do it in round one and set the tone as the team to beat, not one that barely escapes the bottom seed and promptly gets pummeled in round two.

    Lapointe just beat down Hollweg

Watching Marty fight just now brought back memories. This is the guy I would like to see the Wings get. We need grit and someone who can still score. And someone who isn't old. That narrows it down quite a bit.

    My dad's new best friend

John O is 10th on the Wings all-time scoring list! I'd say he is a legend. Thats awesome.

    Florida Wants Hudler For Bertuzzi

Am I? Crazy for a team solid enough to win a Stanley Cup. Everyone is willing to part with Williams. Hudler is the best trade bait we have. We won't miss the 2nd round pick with our ability to draft talent in late rounds. Do you want a difference maker or do you want to watch another team make all the trades?

    Florida Wants Hudler For Bertuzzi

Hudler, Williams, and a second rounder for Bertuzzi. Make that trade and re-sign the beast. He is exactly what the Wings need!

    Henrik's Hat Trick

He's the man!!! (Article will contain more detail shortly!!!) A Natural: Zetterberg’s First Career HAT TRICK! Zetterbergfan.com, February 17, 2007 Henrik Zetterberg is on a hot streak! Tonight, in the desert, he was on fire, bagging his first career hat trick and adding an assist for the Detroit Red Wings in their 4-1 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes. The natural hat trick came on three consecutive power-play goals. Zetterberg’s first power-play goal of the game gave the Wings a 1-0 lead half-way through the second period. Seven minutes and thirty-one seconds later Zata got his second goal, making it a 2-0 game. The goal ended up being the game-winner. Henrik scored his third consecutive goal of the game, again on the power-play at 15:36 of the third period, giving him the “natural†hat trick, his first ever. The tally was his team-leading 30th goal of the season. Zetterberg got his helper on Jason Williams empty-net goal with just eleven seconds left in the game, making it his third four-point game of the season. Henrik has been on an amazing run lately, scoring or assisting on all eight of the Red Wings goals during the three-game road trip. He has 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points in the past 10 games, putting him on pace for a career-high 41 goals and 46 assists this season.

    Henrik's Hat Trick

New and improved... Henrik Zetterberg is on a hot streak! Tonight, in the desert, he was on fire, bagging his first career hat trick and adding an assist for the Detroit Red Wings in their 4-1 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes. The hat trick came on three consecutive power-play goals. Zetterberg’s first power-play goal of the game gave the Wings a 1-0 lead half-way through the second period. Mathieu Schneider made a nice back-handed pass from near the blue line to Zetterberg, who fired a wrist shot from the center of the right face-off circle and past Phoenix’s Swedish goalie Michael Tellqvist, who was screened by fellow Swede Tomas Holmstrom. Seven minutes and thirty-one seconds later Zata got what appeared to be his second goal, making it a 2-0 game. Schneider took a slap shot from the point and Zetterberg jammed the rebound under Tellqvist. The official motioned no goal and play continued for another minute. However, after reviewing the play it was determined that the puck had crossed the line, and the goal counted. The goal ended up being the game-winner. Henrik scored his third consecutive goal of the game, again on the power-play at 15:36 of the third period. Pavel Datsyuk set up the play, cutting into the slot and dishing the puck to Hank who was streaking in towards the crease from the right face-off circle. He knocked it in for his team-leading 30th goal of the season and first career hat trick.

Huh... I've been a hockey (and Wings fan) for about 25 years now, and I guess I learned something new today. I thought I was right on this one. I know I heard the announcers call it a natural hat trick on the radio coverage. Guess they aren't sure on the rule either. But, I like to be accurate on my website, so I will correct it on the polished version of my article. Thanks for the back-up!

    Henrik's Hat Trick

Correct me if I am wrong, but a Natural hat trick can be interrupted by an intermission. I thought if one player scores three straight goals for his team, its a natural.

    Forsberg unhappy about trade

I think that was a PR qoute for the Philly fans and media. What is he supposed to say? "I'm so glad to be off of that sinking ship!" He will be plenty happy playing for the best team in the NHL as long as he stays healthy.

    Datsyuk - milestones coming soon!

He is only 4 goals behind Zetterberg than!
