LMFAO....best thing....EVAR!!! -
Man, don't know why exactly but even this had me tearing up a bit. I guess just seeing the respect and love the fans and players will show a great player on the way out the door. The music choice might have had a little to do with it as well. I remember hearing that song (Foo Fighters - My Hero) when Stevie Y was on the way out too. Damn right both Giggy and Teemu will be missed.

He was also rubbing hot oil on Pierre's head.

Now, I'm not saying this is intentional or that the wings brass is even aware of this but, for at least the past 3 seasons we've suffered terrible injuries all season long. I'm not just talking about a game here and there, I'm talking about a good chunk of our lineup being absent for weeks at a time. This brings up several questions to me. 1. Is there something in the training department that is amiss? Pre Lidstrom retirement, I don't remember this being such an issue. Are we behind the times in training methods or something? Or does this fall on coaching and management that we just haven't picked up players that aren't made of porcelain? 2. Do Babcock and Holland KNOW that our players are fragile and play it safe? What I mean is, sometimes we'll get a player like Helm back for 2 games, then lose him for 10. Just an example. Are they afraid of having these players down in the final stretch/playoffs? Do they sit them at every cough, sniffle, or sneeze or what? It seems to me for the past few seasons, we've battled injury all season long. Then towards the final stretch, guys start coming back healthy, and we have been able to turn it on. Just look at the 7 game series Vs. Chicago last year. If I remember correctly, we played with mostly and young and playoff inexperience roster during that series, but the core was healthy. I'm starting to wonder if guys are staying out of the lineup for any and every injury earlier in the season for fear that if they play through little things like alot of guys do, they'll end up seriously hurt come playoffs? Now, I know the issue here would be that we need all the points possible to make the playoffs, but we've somehow managed. 3. What in your guys opinions could management, and/or the players, and training staff do differently? SOMETHING has got to be a factor that wasn't there 4-5 years ago. If it were just our older players getting hurt, I'd say it's that. But, we have guys like abby, helm, howie, ericsson etc routinely getting hurt now. Just some thought I had, and wanted to get your guys, and gals takes on it all.

Bleacher Report: 1 Player On Each Team That Will Have Improved Scorin
Kmahrle83 replied to Firefighter4WingedWheel's topic in General
It used to be we could count on Bert for a pretty shootout goal here and there. This year, not at all. He's lost that too, and IMO that was his saving grace for this team. On the OP, I think guys like tats, and Nyquist will be the X factor. They've shown some streaks of brilliance, and streaks of absenteeism. If they can keep it turned up down the stretch and in the playoffs if we get there, as long as Dats and Z and Mule are healthy, I think other teams will put all their efforts into snuffing them out, and Nyquist and Tats will step it up on them. -
Very good advice!!!

Hockeytown Cafe is a good place for lunch before the game (a bit on the expensive side, but good). There's also Chelli's Chilli down the road a bit as well. The people mover has several stops that can get you close to things without having to walk forever so pay attention to the map and stations (and I believe you can grab a paper map). As far as merch, the Joe has some good stuff but also pricey. They also have a store where you can buy game worn/used merchandise (some even autographed by said player) such as sticks, jerseys, pads , gloves etc. Very expensive but if I'm not mistaken it's non profit and goes to charity. A good after game bar to go to would be Cobo Joes. It's a wings bar and is very wings oriented. They even usually do jersey raffles and stuff. If you go before game you can usually get free raffle tix, then you return after the game for the drawing (must be present.). Be forewarned, the Joe is an old and severely outdated arena. But it has personality, and TONS of legendary memories and stigma attached to it. The bathrooms are old, smelly and outdated, and the seats will leave you feeling cramped. That said, there's really not a bad seat in the house. Even nosebleeds are worth while. Now, I'm sure like most people not from the D, you've heard the stories about how scary it is, and how you'll get robbed etc. While I will not deny Detroit is in shambles, the downtown area is relatively safe. You'll have the occasional bum beg change or a cigarette but usually they're very nice. My advice, don't feed one or you'll have them coming in droves unfortunately. I've been going to the Joe since I was about 6 or 7 and I'm now 30, and have YET to have incident so no reason to worry. Detroit is bad but people make it out worse than it is. Stick to downtown and don't stray into the ghetto and you'll be ok. One last word of advice, dress warm. It's winter obviously and the joe being right on the Detroit river, the wind is EXTREMELY cold. If you don't bring gloves/hat etc, you'll be very sorry if you plan on exploring the area surrounding the Joe. I took my gf(now wife) to a wings game on one of our first dates, and she didn't heed my advice, so I ended up giving her all my warm gear and ended up walking around MISERABLE most of the time from the cold. Better safe than sorry. Any more questions, I'd be happy to answer. Have fun.

Hey Cr00d. Park at the greektown casino. Free parking. You can then take the Detroit People Mover to and from the Joe for 75 cents a person each way. I do this every time I go. You can then hang at the casino after the game if you wish to sober up. I always make a day of it. Good luck, Have fun and GO WINGS!!!

Oh wow, sad for TATS, wasn't his dad just on the dads trip in 24/7? Also, I don't know what's up with jimmy but I can't understand what the issue is. Most of goals scored against him recently have been straight up snap shots/wristers that beat him clean with no screen or deflection. He needs his mojo back.

Besides hank and Z, and maybe helm we just don't have the skill we used to to make them pay legit anymore.

Didn't Patrick Sharp spear lids in the nuts after a play in the playoffs a few years back? Edit: Yes he did, causing lids to have surgery on his man parts. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2009/06/red_wings_lidstrom_confirms_te.html
