Wishful thinking on Son of a Wing's part, I'm afraid. I seriously hope I'm wrong though and will be happy to eat crow. Bring on Dekeyser in the red and white!

I'm hearing on twitter that his decision will come within yet another 30 minutes (12:20 pm as I write this). I can't believe that the wait is a good sign for Detroit. Not buying the "Iginla hoopla" excuse. Why so conflicted Danny? Says the guy posting on a sports forum on teh interwebs.

I hope I'm wrong, but the longer this goes on, I think it becomes less likely that he signs with Detroit. Another team may have offered him something he is having a hard time refusing. I suspect he is debating between what his head and his heart want.

Exactly. Right now this Wings team is playing very well in spurts, not so well in others. Regardless, the team is exciting to watch because, for the first time in decades, it is genuinely relying on youth and its farm system. The Wings are giving us a glimpse into the future and it doesn't look as dim as many of us feared, especially after the season opener against St. Louis. To trade away valuable picks and/or young players for a rent-a-player at the deadline would be a shame. -
Brunner, Kindl, Tatar, and, frankly, moving on. With so many youngsters joining the lineup, this team harkens back to the Bryan Murray era. Lots of new faces with eyes on the future.

What does that have to do with it? Until a couple of years ago, CHI hadn't won a Cup in a long time. Were they not a rival when Chelios (as a Hawk) was blasting shots from the point in OT back in the 90s? Don't forget that nail-biting series against St. Louis when Yzerman scored the winner in OT. Was St. Louis not a rival because they hadn't won the Cup? TO was a great rival to Detroit until the Leafs were shipped East. It was a shame it happened and should be rectified. -

I'm too old to agree with most of this, aside from not wanting to lose CHI. I had standing room only tickets in '93 when we lost in OT to Toronto in game 7 of the playoffs. Still bitter about that one and eager for revenge.
