Why not call up Callahan instead of having Smith play forward?? Are we at the roster limit?

Favorite Player(s) on Other Teams
BadgerBob replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
Toews - Reminds me of a younger Stevie, even though Z is great at breaking him Sharp - Just a solid player Stamkos - This kid is just too fun to watch Pavelski - Wisconsin kid Jumbo Joe - Big center, assist machine Parros - That stache. Shane Doan - I've enjoyed watching him since I was younger Lucic - Big, physical, and can put up points. Plays old time hockey. St. Louis - Really liked watching him with Lecavalier and Stamkos, shame he wanted to leave. Karlsson - Puck moving ability OEL - Good young defensemen Macdonaugh & Stepan - former Badgers, both solid players for the Rangers. -
Dubious contracts make him not good enough to be here? Our current GM is good enough to be here and he signs Samuelsson with NTC, keeps signing Cleary, and gave up a 1st rounder for a retread Quincey. I think Stevie is doing a pretty good job down there, especially with what he got in return on the St. Louis trade.

Federov is reportedly playing for CSKA Moscow on Friday. Link: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=433754 Weird to think he's only the same age as Selanne. This is something I'd like to see.

Tire Kicking Center?

Enough with the injuries! Christ, I had to spend the entire fall watching this with my Packers damn it!

I don't see us making any moves. None of the names brought up excite me, at least not enough to lose what has to be given up to get them. None of these guys are going to make us cup contenders. Unless we are getting some unreal player, a real star, I would rather see what our home grown talent can do the rest of the year. For once, the typical KH statements at the trade deadline wouldn't bother me.

Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?

Could you imagine how much Ottawa would hate Detroit after getting Alfie and Spezza? I'd almost feel bad...almost. -

Probably how everyone used to feel about the Red Wings eh? -
Wow. After the trade for Bouwmeester and this, exciting time for Blues fans. Good for them. Lookin' at you Kenny boy.
-
That's good to hear the guy has a nose for the front of the net. Wings could use some of that, too many finesse guys.
-
This is what I was implying. Wings have a very humble, team first oriented locker room. I feel like his personality would clash with leaders like Hank, and especially with Babcock. Yeah he can back up his attitude, so could Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Manny Ramirez and other world class athletes. Not saying he's even remotely close to the level of those guys, but teams shy away from those guys because they're a cancer to the locker room with their "me first" attitude. I'd rather get a player with slightly less talent that doesn't have such a big head.
-
Not sure I'd want him anyway. The guy's got a bad attitude.

I like that 3rd line a HELL of a lot more than the second. Maybe even more than the first.

I guess it was moreso this: http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2012/05/29/blackhawks-disappointed-in-kane/ which was linked in that article. As someone who frequents events like that in Madison, it's extremely hard to respect someone who pulls the stuff he did. Might seem silly to you, and that's fine. I'm not trying to start an argument or anything. Hopefully all these games will be entertaining! -
NHL players will not participate in 2018 Olympics (Mod Post #99)

Reading through this and talking about how kids were used in 1980 for the hockey team, it got me curious. I wasn't around to see this live, so I was somewhat curious to see the ages of these guys. It seems to me, from talking to my dad about when he played, a lot of these guys actually stayed all four years at college unlike nowadays where they're there for a year or two just to get bigger and bolt to the pros. I found this and thought it was interesting: Goaltenders Jim Craig, 21 North Easton, MA (Boston U) Steve Janaszak, 22 Saint Paul, MN (Minnesota) Defense Bill Baker, 22 Grand Rapids, MN (Minnesota) Dave Christian, 20 Warroad, MN (North Dakota) Ken Morrow, 22 Flint, MI (Bowling Green) Jack O'Callahan, 22 Charlestown, MA (Boston U) Mike Ramsey, 19 Minneapolis, MN (Minnesota) Bob Suter, 22 Madison, WI (Wisconsin)Forwards Neal Broten, 20 Roseau, MN (Minnesota) Steve Christoff, 21 Richfield, MN (Minnesota) Mike Eruzione, 25 (Captain) Winthrop, MA (Boston U) John Harrington, 22 Virginia, MN (Minnesota-Duluth) Mark Johnson, 21 Madison, WI (Wisconsin) Rob McClanahan, 22 Saint Paul, MN (Minnesota) Mark Pavelich, 21 Eveleth, MN (Minnesota-Duluth) Buzz Schneider, 25 Babbitt, MN (Minnesota) Dave Silk, 21 Scituate, MA (Boston U) Eric Strobel, 21 Rochester, MN (Minnesota) Phil Verchota, 22 Duluth, MN (Minnesota) Mark Wells 21, St. Clair Shores, MI (Bowling Green) I think a lot of these guys nowadays would already have been playing pros by these ages, or at least AHL depending on which route to the pros they chose to take. Christ, a couple there are 25! I guess I just thought it was interesting to see what they considered "kids" back then as opposed to now (17-20) -

World Junior team no, because Patsy isn't on it. High school team I'm indifferent because I want the kids to win but I want them to lose so the coach (who is an idiot) gets fired, it's a popular opinion among players/parents who've played for him. I'm perfectly fine with not rooting for US for my reason, even if it's a really bad reason. -

I can't root for USA as long as Kane is on the team, guy's a first rate scum bag, so I'm cheering for Sweden since I'm mostly Swedish. -

I wouldn't say they're at that level just yet. US women's team went 2-2 against some East coast boys high school teams in January. -
Dan Boyle sure would be nice! I donno if he's going to leave SJ though.
-
No thanks. He seems to bring out the worst in whoever he's paired with.

Hire Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to train this kid in the summer. He'll be 200 by next season. -
Haha yeah Rocky, Colt, and Tum-tum

Man, I wish you were my boss, willing to pay me more for future inflation!
