Love the signing! -
Johnz- to be fair to rich scouting isn't an exact science, and I just hope the first 17 teams share his opinion ...
-
Rich- he is one of my favorites for the 1st round, but he is behind Mantha and Zykov. Big Fred is probably the lowest risk, but also has the lowest ceiling of the bunch that will be in our range. However I agree on Rychel, he looks like Danny Boy on film. Dan Cleary in his prime was a good player for us but version 2.0 is not what is needed.

Richdg that is just not true. Here is Mynhldraft.com's scouting report on him. And all the rest talk about him as an explosive skater and very fast. Strengths Max Domi is quite the package. Hes loaded with skill, is a dynamic offensive player and is one of the best skaters in this years class. Domis stride is explosive, to say the least. He has an incredibly high top speed and it doesnt take him long to reach it. Hes extremely shifty and is very good with stops and starts and at cutting strides. Hes not a big guy but what he lacks in size, he makes up for in heart and feistiness. He wont back down from anyone and he rarely gets outworked. While Domis willing to mix it up physically, hes very good at getting under the skin of his opponents and drawing penalties. Domi sees the ice very well and is an excellent playmaker. His hockey sense is through the roof and there are very few passes he cant make. Domi isnt afraid to go to the dirty areas of the ice and has no problem filling the net, either. His hands are incredible and he can often be found stick handling in a phone booth.

If the Pens did choose between Malkin and Letang they made the right choice. They have plenty of scoring upfront to win it all, but need to be more responsible on the blueline. They also have a couple good young defenders in their system that they will try to replace him with.
-
There was absolutely nothing wrong with that hit. I understand where you are coming from due to the fallout from Abby's hit, but the coaches will develop his hitting to be within the rules. Johnz point, as I understood it, was that Domi likes to play physical which is encouraging. I really hope he is available at 18, and I think he is going to develop into being a physical version of St. Louis.

I like this. He is definitely worth an extra .5 for his funny awkwardness.
-
2.5 sounds about right to me, 3 tops. You can tell Brunner loves playing here and this is a situation where we will get a little bit of a discount.

Size is overrated to a point, but an example is how the Bruins used their toughness and size to get the Penguins off their game. Playing devils advocate to my own argument is this doesn't apply to our team. We didn't lose to Chicago because we weren't big or tough enough. 1st round we need the best Offensive player available, then in the next rounds find a Bailey/McCarron type to develop into your future top 6 PF. So in essence I think we agree.

I'm not a scout but I see more Flip in his film, plus the report by scouts is he is a good two way player that needs to polish his offensive side of the game. If he truly projected as a bigger/faster Zetty he would go in the top 5 not 12-45 depending on what scouting service you use. That's just my opinion rich, and mean no offense by it. I appreciate all the time you have put into this thread.

Valterri Filppula 2.0, aka Wennberg. If we are staying on your list I think Big Fred would be Holland's pick as well.
-
I really like Domi. If he was 6'+ he would be a top 5 pick imo. I think he is going to turn into a stronger St. Louis...
-
Another potential 2nd rounder- Oliver Bjorkstrand. He has a good right handed shot, nice speed, good on the forecheck, likes to shoot from the slot, and isn't afraid of driving the net. He needs to put on weight, and become more defensively responsible.
-
No I would not trade for that contract. I would however offer him a big deal if he got bought out. I don't think either will happen tho.
-
I'm an idiot my bad lol.
-
Rich- what is you opinion on Klimchuk? If he is available at 48 he could be our future Sniper. He also plays good defense, nice size, his coach raves about his personality, and also is very coachable. I also like Lodge, Hartman, Bailey, De La Rose, and McCarron in the 2nd.
-
You're the man rich, thanks!
-
If he was to tell our scouts he would come after his contract in the khl ended I would take him in the 2nd. However due to the uncertainty the 4th seems about right.
-
He is kinda gumpy lol, but he will look like a totally different skater in 3 years. The organization tends to do a good job of improving the prospects skating. He may be a total bust but he could also develop into the power forward we have been lacking.

INSANE grand rapids roster next season full of prospects
MasterPavel replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
They need to be ripe before they can over-ripen. Ferraro may be ready for an Emdog style of role. Almquist looks ready, but there is just no room for him. Outside of those two the rest need developing. -
Again you're wrong. He has above average skating ability already, and he has just started to mature into his frame. Are you going to ignore his recent performance at the u18 tournament as well? Do I want him at 18 no, however if we find ourselves at the end of the 1st or beginning 2nd I'd love him. Reminds me of a bigger Hartnell...
-
Z- I get what you're saying but you don't want to be one dimensional in any draft.
-
McCarron just had a great tournament, and is developing nicely. He is more of a project type that has a high ceiling. He would be a nice pick at the end of the 1st through the 2nd. I wouldn't take him at 18, but if we traded down and got a late 1st and an extra 2nd he would make a nice combo with Fashing, and a skill guy like Lehkonnen since last I heard he is falling.
