Mike Babcock Line swapping.. Too much?

Wings played more successfully at this time. That's what matters. It's just this terrible coaching style of Babs which brought us in trouble.

Mike Babcock Line swapping.. Too much?

Tatar proved that he could help the team with his goals, his moves and his hard work. Lashoff proved that he's able to play big minutes with Kronwall. Brunner worked well with Z and Franzen worked well with D. There's just no reason for Babs lineswapping.

Mike Babcock Line swapping.. Too much?

Z and Datsjuk need to be separated, otherwise this team will not be able to create offense over several lines. But Datjuk has to play with Franzen and Z has to play with Brunner. Otherwise the offense will not work, too. Z isn't a goal scorer and will never be one, so he needs snipers on his line who can score goals. I'd prefer Tatar and Brunner. Datsjuk needs someone who can create space, who wins the board battles and who can drive to the net. Abby is a guy for just 10min a game, so Datsjuk has to go with Franzen. That's the reason why other lines didn't work and it's also the reason why we're still fighting for a playoff spot. Remember the time when Quincey was injured and Lash played with Kronwall, Tatar was in the roster instead of Nyquist and Brunner played with Z. Wings won a lot of games and played very successfully. I really don't understand why Babs changed everything. Also remember who the team stepped up after a terrible 1st period against the Flames when Babs reunite Datsjuk with Franzen and Z with Brunner. That's exactly what I say all the time. Even I blind can see it but Babcock's obviously too stubborn to admit that...
  5. Definitely not. Tatars hands are a lot quicker than Nyquists plus he plays a lot harder. And do not forget that Tatar is one of the best skaters in the organization. He got the moves that only Brunner and Datsjuk are able to show. Nyquist understands the game very well and he's a great playmaker. But do not forget that Tatar is the younger of them. And, as said before, when you have that many chances but you're not scoring goals you really need quick handed goal scorers, not playmakers.
  6. Do you remember the time when: - Lashoff played big minutes with Kronwall - Brunner played with Zetterberg - Franzen played with Datsjuk - Quincey was injured - Tatar was in our NHL roster ...tell you what? This was the time when Wings played successfully. Plus see how well the Canuck's played this season despite just one of their bottom six has more size than Zetterberg. We beat them twice, but sure not because of our toughness Anyway, we've a lot of young talents and if we let go our useless defensemen (Ericsson, Quincey) and buy out Samuelsson we would have enough cap space to create offensive lines like that: Tatar, Datsjuk, Jurco Nyquist, Zetterberg, Brunner Franzen, Filppula, Bertuzzi Miller, Helm, Cleary Not bad, eh? Even that 4th would create a lot of offense. And if one of the younger guy's struggling, we simply switch him with one of our veteran 3rd liners. No problem. I'm sure there's enough size in these lines. Especially if we hold Abby, Eaves or Tootoo as scratches and maybe give Sheahan another chance. The rest of our Prospects will maybe not be ready next season but that doesn't matter. Not bad, I agree. But despite the fact that Tatar plays very hard, you can't pair Datsjuk with Tatar and Nyquist. That would not work. Datsjuk needs Franzen or an other guy with size who drives to the net and creates some space for him. That's a fact and that's why he needs a guy like Jurco, Franzen or Bertuzzi.

    Red Wings lack offensive creativity

Wings lost against an AHL-team. Rookie's like Baertschi, Horak, Reinhart or Hanowski stepped up and create a lot of offense. Calgary's actually playing a lot better than the redwings do - not only because of the loss yesterday. So why Babcock doesn't want to give our youth a chance? As already said before, Wings didn't draft a lot of defensive responsible players. With Brunner, Samuelsson and Nyquist most of the newest roster additions aren't defensive responsible, too. So why not let the youth play big minutes as they do very successfully for Calgary as long as the other guy's nearly produce nothin? Does anybody think that our prospects are worse than Calgary's? Never. Plus it's very hard to get a PP going or create some offense as long as you got a Quincey on the ice. I'm very sorry, Kyle, but see what happened in Calgary since the Bouwmeester trade. TJ Brodie's playing big minutes every single night and is creating a lot of offense. He's one of the best defensemen in the league as long as he plays on this level. Some of our younger defensemen (DeKeyer, Smith, Lash) could also do that if they get a chance to. See how Kindl stepped up by playing big minutes. Same problem with Ericsson. You can't create offense with two defensmen in the lineup who are useless at the blueline.

    Red Wings lack offensive creativity

Looks like I'm right and Mr. Babcock has threwn away multipe games with just very very bad coaching. When Brunner and Cleary plus Zetterberg and Franzen switched spots yesterday, Wings played so much better than before. Datsjuk and Franzen match perfectly together ans so do Zetterberg and Brunner. It just makes no sense to put the best playmakers together in a line along with a tough guy like Abdelkader who's not able to profit from their ideas. When you put these two together you really need to add a natural born goalscorer otherwise this system can't work. Maybe the loss against Calgary was a little bit unlucky. But it was for sure Mr. Babcock's fault that Redwings lost. You can't throw away a period against a strong team like the Flames are at the moment. But Mr. Babcock has threwn away not only that single game. Redwings were a strong team team as long as Tatar was in the roster and Brunner played with Z and Fil. But then, Tatar had to go down and Brunner was demoted by Babcock. He gave up two of his best goal scorers voluntarly. Just ridiculous. If Babcock wanna make the playoffs he'd better save the lineup of the last two periods against the Flames. Just including one change. Call up for Tatar and reassign Andersson to Grand Rapids.
  9. That's not true. He's at least skating while Franzen isn't. Zetterberg and Brunner didn't score since they were separated by Babcock. They play completely without confidence since then. Even Z produces only in the PP since then. It's definitely a huge coaching mistake.

    Red Wings lack offensive creativity

You're right. Same problem with Fil. Maybe some fresh air would help this team to step up. Mule and Fil are skilled players but actually it seems that they're not willing to make an effort every single day.

    Red Wings lack offensive creativity

True. But Defensemen like Quincey, Ericsson and also Colaiacovo are just useless at the blue line. I do not unterstand why Babs let them play instead of excellent puck movers like Lash, Smith or White. Makes no sense...

    Red Wings lack offensive creativity

This is all because Babs is switching the lines so bad. If we wanna make the playoffs it's the time to put some goal scorers into the bottom six. Bring in some quality instead of size und put together what belongs together. Plus we are in need of skillful defensemen. Makes no sense to let play some lazy guys like Ericsson or Quincey. Especially on the PP: Tatar, Datsjuk, Franzen Nyquist, Zetterberg, Brunner Cleary, Filppula, Abdelkader Miller, Emmerton, Eaves Kronwall, Lashoff Smith, Kindl DeKeyser, White - Kronwall and Lash already played together very successfully. Lash is a very good defender and would allow Kronwall to create some offense. Plus he moves the puck a lot better than simply sweepers like Colaiacovo, Ericsson or Quincey. - Zetterberg and Brunner are not scoring on 5vs5 since they were separated by Babs. Think Nyquist could be a good addition because he worked well with Brunner in 1,2 games. - Tatar is a young guy but has the quickest hands (after Datsjuk and Brunner) of the whole roster. He's a natural born goalscorer and should get a call up very immediately. Wanna see him paired with Datsjuk and Franzen. Franzen can take Abby's job and drive hard to the net. He has the body and he's useless if he's just standin arround. - Filppula is not scoring altough he's playing in the bottom six all the time. Can't accept that anymore. Maybe he would feel confident as 3rd line center along with some hard working guys who can create a lot of space for him. So I'm pretty sure that reunite what worked and put together what belongs together would be the key...

Concerned - we might not make it in to the playoffs

Jurco sure is a powerforward. And he's playing pretty well for Grand Rapids at the moment. Maybe he will be ready for 2013/2014. But actionally it's Babcock's job to push guys like Cleary and Franzen. They bring a lot of size AND offense. But especially Franzen's not skating enough at the moment, he's not moving and is not driving to the net. He's just standin arround and waiting for the puck. That's not enough. As long as Bertuzzi's out and Jurco's not NHL ready, Babcock has to pair Franzen and Pavel. And he has to make fire under lazy Mule's ass. Otherwise we'll not see the playoffs and we will waste an opportunity to give the youth a chance. See what Calgary's doin right now. Young guys ar playin big minutes, even on the PP. I'm sure they're learnin a lot and will be high achievers soon.

    Thinking on 2013/14 roster.

Seriously? Mrazek is not ready to be a Nr.1 in die NHL and Gus is much too inconsistently for an NHL Goalie. And you definitely won't find a better goalie than Howie for next season. Howie's playing very good and he has the right to receive a better offer from Holland.

    Thinking on 2013/14 roster.

Enough guys who can play tough. When you're rebuilding, you can't have anything und you will may not reach the playoffs. We're definitely NOT rebuilding at the moment (no matter what Holland tells us) and we will not making the playoffs, too. I simply don't like guys who are only usable for the dirty work. Skillful guys like Kronwall, Lash, Smith, Kindl, Bert or Cleary have a lot of size and they will play harder if it's demanded. Franzen is a heavy guy but he's not working with his size. I prefer powerforwards like Helm, Emmerton, Miller or Eaves. They also cost a lot less. Tatar and Brunner may not bring size but they're both driving hard to the net. Specially Tatar proved that he's willing to play hard. Even Zetterberg can play a lot harder if necessary and he's size is at least not bad. Brunner also can play very very hard. Hard enough to destroy Colaiacovo . I really like the topline of the canucks. Burrows and the Sedins aren't big guys but they're working very hard and score a lot of big goals. Lash never in the top2? Well, he was already there and played big minutes with the Kronwall. He did very well and I don't understand why he got replaced by Ericsson. He played 2,3 awesome passes but that's it. Can not be used at the blue line, Quincey can't as well. Though they earn more than 3 Mio. I'm pretty sure the youth can do better and we have a lot of young defenders in the organization who proved that they're ready to play big minutes in the NHL. Sure. And despite everything he's a very hard working guy. Plus he's a lot faster than for example Sheahan is. He's one of the biggest in the organization had some really good games with Grand Rapids during the last weeks. Should be tested during in 13/14 for sure.

    Thinking on 2013/14 roster.

Holland talks about "rebuild". That's definitely not a bad idea. After this season, everyone will recognize that. Top Winger 23-28 years, Datsjuk, Jurco Tatar, Zetterberg, Brunner Cleary, Helm, Bertuzzi Miller, Emmerton, Eaves Lashoff, Kronwall Kindl, Top Defender 23-28years Smith, DeKeyser Howard Mrazek plus: White, Ouellet, Sheahan, Ferraro, Tootoo Need Andersson and Tatar or Nyquist to add a winger to go with Pav. Would prefer to keep Tatar. Would be the perfect addition for Z and Brunner. I really like Jurco. Very skillfull player and his size is not bad. Maybe he can fit in. Otherwise let's check the other younger guys or Bertuzzi with Pav. If the younger guys step up, there's no need for Cleary and Eaves, too. But Miller and Bertuzzi should stay.

    Nyquist thoughts

Tatar, Datsjuk, Filppula Nyquist, Zetterberg, Brunner Cleary, Helm, Bertuzzi Miller, Emmerton or Abdelkader, Franzen Would like to see that tested because Mule really has to skate better. He's way too lazy at the moment. Can't accept that. Unfortunately that would never happen.

Holland: "We don't need depth...Need a top guy"

Btw: I would really like to see Eriksson in Redwings uniform, but that will not happen. I'm pretty sure Holland will do nothin. The statement sure was just an april joke...

Holland: "We don't need depth...Need a top guy"

Sure he is. Best Goalie in Swiss League. Plays very consistently. Since years. For those who don't believe me, watch this vid of the Spengler Cup 2012: Berra helped out HC Davos with Patrick Kane, Joe Thornton, Rick Nash, Loui Eriksson, Raphael Diaz and Damien Brunner. Against Canada he saved 21 shots during just 30min after he replaced their original goalie Genoni. PS: That's the game in which Brunner destroyed Colaiacovo who played for Canada ---> 11:30 watch the bad side of Damien Brunner. He's a hard hitter

Thx, Kenny! You're on the right way. If he adds a right handed sniper and Yandle, plus recall Tatar it could be a successfully season in the end...

    Mr Holland.....

They did definitely not sign with Detroit because of Holland Future does not look bright for the Wings because there's no place in the roster for all the talented prospects in the organization. Holland has to trade away some older guys or has to give up some prospects for players who are able to fit in immediatly. If Holland will do nothin, the scoring problems will last. Three snipers (Pavel, Mule, Brunner) are not enough. Particularly as long as Mule's playing that lazy und is just producing giveaways instead of goals. At the moment Wings can have 30-15 shots but will lose for sure. That's a problem all year. The younger guys (Emmerton, Nyquist, Andersson, Abby, Helm) all aren't snipers, too so there's no place for them all. A call up for Tatar (he's a sniper for sure) would be just the start but is definitely not enough. Defense is different. But there are way too much players and no space for the talents. A lot of good defensemen but only Kindl und Kronwall could be used on de blue line. Maybe Lash, Smith and DeKeyser could learn that. Ericsson and Quincey sure can't, so let's move them. Makes no since to hold these guys. Holland also has to resign a lot of guys and needs cap space.
  24. poel

    Mr Holland.....

Maybe. But despite all we need a trade. At the moment, Mule's lazy, Fil's useless and we have too much D-men. With that much young talented D-men in de organization we have to trade some older guys away. Especially limited D-men who earn much money (Ericsson, Quincey). Plus we have only one right handed sniper in the organization (Brunner). That's just not enough. That won't be different next season if Holland's just sleeping in his bed till wednesday.
  25. poel

    Mr Holland.....

Doesn't matter who we get. But it's a fact that we have too much playmakers and defensemen, but less snipers, especially right handed shooters. Pavel needs a reason to stay. And it's absolutely necessary to call up Tatar. He is a sniper and I'm sure he can even do much better with Zetterberg and Brunner. He would be the perfect addition for these two. Holland also has to teach Babcock that Brunner and Zetterberg belong together. Since they're separated, they don't score...
