    Brunner Contract Talks

Maybe because he doesn't have 2,5M. He wanted to sign Weiss and Alfredsson so there's no room for Brunner. And don't forget it's time to give the youth a chance. He has to clear roster spots for them. Wings have 2,3M capspace without signing Smith, Nyquist and Andersson. And Holland also want to sign a right handed top defenseman. Even if he will give up some roster players like Franzen, Ericsson or Quincey in this trade he can't sign Brunner for 2,5M. Problem is that he can't buy out Sammy because he's injured. That's the problem... Maybe he's lying. But I think it's the truth. He always said that he want to stay in Detroit for a long time. Rumors sake Holland offered him 2,5M but not over four years. And Brunner want a deal over at least four years. Maybe Kenny want to save some roster spots for the prospects. I don't know. Because 2,5M isn't a risk if you ask me. Just trade him away if he's not worth it.

    Brunner Contract Talks

Maybe. But he is improving very quickly. He's maybe not a hard hitter and will never be one but he collected a lot of takeaways. And he will improve a lot, specially after his first camp. And the muscles he will add over the summer will help, too. He wants to play top 6. And if he get a 4,0M contract, he definitely will play top6. No question. Different Swiss sources. I summarized them for you. Here is the one concerning Dallas. http://www.blick.ch/sport/eishockey/nhl/es-geht-um-3-5-millionen-pro-jahr-id2366670.html

    Brunner Contract Talks

He said at the weekend he will decide until the end of this week. Different franchises interested. So no panic. Just wait. Said he wanted 2,5M from Detroit but as a FA he want 4,0M. I think he want to join the Stars but they only offer him 3,5M. Reportedly also interested: Colorado, Calgary, Buffalo, Carolina, Florida, Winnipeg, Washington and Montreal.

Definitely not. Sheehy was Parise's Agent for a long time but got fired a few years ago.

Forgot him. I want to keep Cleary if he signs for 2.00 or a little less...think he's better than Abdelkader. Very solid and experienced forward. Played good during the playoffs.

FORWARDS Tomas Tatar ($0.840m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Nathan Horton ($6.000m) Gustav Nyquist ($1.500m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Damien Brunner ($3.000m) Danny Cleary ($2.000m) / Vincent Lecavalier ($4.800m) / Tomas Jurco ($0.925m) Drew Miller ($1.350m) / Cory Emmerton ($0.533m) / Patrick Eaves ($1.200m) Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m) / Darren Helm ($2.125m) / DEFENSEMEN Danny DeKeyser ($1.350m) / Kris Letang ($3.500m) Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) / Keith Yandle ($5.250m) Brian Lashoff ($0.725m) / Jakub Kindl ($2.400m) Carlo Colaiacovo ($2.500m) / GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($5.292m) Petr Mrazek ($0.790m) OTHER Buyout: Mikael Samuelsson ($0.000m) Buyout: Jordin Tootoo ($0.000m) ------ CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled with the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $65,688,333; BONUSES: $1,412,500 CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $24,167 New try. Think that would be an impressive team. If we need a tough guy, lets call up Callahan. This kid sure is NHL-ready. Want to keep Bert and Helm. They could help the team if they're ready to go. The D would be one of the best in the league. Even Letang would learn to play solid if Babcock's his coach. Let Filppula walk and waive Gustavsson. Trades. Maybe not realistic: - Letang for Quincey, Smith and the 2014 1st rounder - Yandle for Franzen and Ericsson - Horton for Andersson - whatever for Filppula

Jonathan Ericsson - should we consider trading him?

Right. We don't need solid d-men, we need some skill on the blue line. If we can get a skilled right handed D-man like Yandle or Letang, we maybe have to give up Ericsson or Quincey in exchange. If we give up Ericsson we maybe have to add a little less to the deal as if we trade Quincey.

    Nyquist or Tatar

We have to keep both of them. Tatar is a sniper. Quick hands, sensational moves, very similar to Pav. Nyquist doesn't have special skills with the puck. BUT he has the overall view. He's a playmaker and he's able to find his teammates in every position. Plus he's a very good skater and he knows exactly where to go. Very similar to Z. If Tatar learns to play smarter and better defensively, he could be the new Pav. If Nyquist builds some muscles and learns to play harder and better defensively, he could be the new Z. Maybe they won't be able to reach the levels of Z or Pav. But it would be very stupid to give up one of them. Their style of play is very different. We need both of them. We'd better give up other Prospects. But we definitely need Nyquist, Tatar and Jurco. And it maybe won't be stupid to add Callahan instead of Tootoo.

    - Ericsson was very far away from being good. Kronner played solid but he wasn't able to support the offense as usual because he had to work in the own zone following Ericsson's terrible giveaways. This guy is just not able to handle the puck cleanly. Everytime he got the puck he runs into the next opponent or immediately plays a panic pass. - Maybe you're right and Marchenko and Jensen are not NHL-ready. But Babcock will definitely check that. He searches one or two right handed defensemen for his PP-units. If Marchenko and Jensen are not ready there's enough capspace in my suggestion to add two younger talented quality defenders. Maybe the two Swiss from Montreal could be options. Diaz played a bad saison, also but not only because of injuries. I think the Canadiens will not longer count on him. Same with Weber. He will not get a chance altough he always played very good. The Canadiens would not require a lot for them. And I'm sure there are a lot of other options. Lashoff got a one way contract and he sure will be an important player for Detroit next year. He always led the team in checking and blocking shots when he played. We will need big rough guys like him next season. And Lash is not even big, he's also a smart puck handler and he has a very hard slap shot. He didn't play very good in his two playoff matches, I agree. But I think his self confidence wasn't very good after he got reassigned to the griffins. It's not easy to come in after get reassigned in the NHL and then sit for a long time. And he was even better than Quincey, Ericsson or Smith. - You're right. Bert is slow and his back sucks. But Pasha don't need good skaters in his line. He needs rough guys who win the board battles for him and he needs snipers to make use of his ideas. And I think Bert looked very good in the playoffs. He handled the puck very smart. As always. If he's injured, lets check Jurco there. His style is very similar. He's not the best skater but he plays a rough style and has very quick hands and is an excellent puck handler. And if it don't work, we got the Mule. And he already worked very well with Pav. Lot of options, but I prefer to see Pav with Tatar and Bert. They're the best snipers we got along with Brunner. - I don't like Andersson. He played not bad last season but he's not as skilled as Emmerton and he don't work harder than him, too. Even Emmerton don't got the body of Andersson. Andersson is better in Faceoffs but that will not change my mind. Andersson maybe could be a 4th line Center but I prefer Emmerton to play there. He's very familiar with Miller and Eaves and I think they made a good job in the past. For the 3rd line we got better options than Andersson. I'd prefer to see the Mule or Helm centering the 3rd.
  10. lol, the Syracuse guys are very entertaining

Ericsson was the worst Redwing in den Playoffs although he earns more than 3 Mio. I can tell you I destroyed a lot of things during the Playoffs just because of his terrible mistakes. Man, how slowly, inflexible and limited can you be? Just watch his stats! 14 giveaway's, 0 takeaways. And I'm sure there were a lot more GA's. Ok, sometimes he plays an awesome pass and he hits very often and very well. But what an overpayment to give him 3,25 Mio. Same thing with Quincey. His concentration is a little bit better but he's as limited and slow as Ericsson and he's misshandles the puck very often. Plus he's such a terrible skater. And you wanna pay him his 3,75 Mio anymore? Sure? We can talk about Smith. He's a very skilled defender but his playoffs were very bad and I lost a lot of hair just because of him. Plus I think that he plays not hard enough. Has to be and to play bigger. We can offer him a new contract, I don't mind. But for the future I do particularly count on Danny D and Lash and they're even a year younger. I think Coach Babcock have to check what Marchenko and Jensen would be able to bring. If they can help the team it would be great. We really need one or two valable RH defenders to complete our PP-units. Otherwise we would have enough cap space to add at least one better RH d-man. I really don't know what's your problem with that D. Lash already played big minutes with Kronner. And he played very well. I think Kronner was in a very good mood as well when he played with Lash. DeKeyser anyway played sensational for us and I think Cola gives an impressive comeback after his long injury. He played very well. For me, he was one of our best D-men during the playoffs. Perhaps number two right after Kronner. Played simple but very hard, made no mistakes. Even technically very solid. What's your problem with Bert on the 1st line? He's exactly the type of player Pav need beside him. Pav need big boys who win the bord battles and who are able to work hard in the slot. But mainly he need snipers beside him. Players who can exploit his ideas. Bert is exactly that type of player and I think he's way better than Mule. The Mule just floats very often. I also wanna see Tatar tested on this line. He's a small guy but he plays very big and he has the quickest hands of the whole franchise after Pav and Brunner. But if this line would not work, I've no problem to bring in Jurco or the Mule. But i strictly don't wanna see Abdelkader working with one of the top lines. I wanna see more skilled guys on our top lines and more big physical guys on our checking lines. That's also the point why Andersson is useless. He's a big guy but he's not able to use his impressive weight. Big guys who aren't technically skilled really have to play big. Otherwise they're just useless. I think Emmerton is the better one of those two altough Andersson's way better on FO's.

Plus Kenny needs to realize that we have a lot of young players who are NHL ready. They need some icetime in Detroit to improve. In five years, when Z, Pav and probably Kronner are gone, we need some new stars. Maybe Kenny can find a good right handed defender to fill the capspace a little bit.

    Nyquist thoughts

Wanna see it like this: Tatar, Pav, Bert Nyquist, Hank, Brunner Cleary, Mule, Abdelkader Miller, Emmerton (Helm), Eaves ...but that will never happen...

    What does Babs do?

Not true. They nearly produce nothin during the Anaheim series. Never enough altough they had to neutralize Getzlaf and Perry. They scored only on the PP. But what happened in Game 7 when Babcock separated them? Pav played much better because he need two grinders who win the board battles for him. Z-line scored twice.

    What does Babs do?

Wrote this long time ago. Pav and Z don't work anymore. Wings won game 7 because Babcock separated them. Today again. Chicago dominated the game in the 3rd period because Babcock changed the lines. Will be interesting to see what Babcock plans. Maybe it's a good idea to bring in Tootoo and add some energy.

Abby in for game 6... Who draws out?

Mule, Pav, Bert Nyquist, Hank, Brunner Cleary, Flip, Eaves Abby, Emmerton, Tootoo Tootoo should be in to get momentum if needed. He could be a game changer. I believe we need to produce a lot of offense over three equal lines and we need a rough checker line. 4th line was just a bad joke this series. This would definitely change if Babcock put Abby, Emmeron und Toots together. Topline only produced only one this series. Not enough. Pave and Mule played well together earlier this season. Same with Hank and Brunner. Didn't like Sammy's comeback. Bert played a lot better. Andersson is useless. Emmerton is way better and I want to see Hank and Flip in center position.

    What does Babs do?

Oh, not only twice. For me, he will always be Mr. Datsjuk. His correct name is Дацю́к and everyone who write Dazyuk or maybe Datsyuk misspells his name For me the translation of Дацю́к is Datsjuk. I really don't like the other translations.

    What does Babs do?

Well, Mr. Babcock, thank you very much for loosin game 1 one of this series. Wings won twice against the ducks by spreading the offense. There's just no reason to change anythin und put Z and Pav together. Wings are very easy to control with a lineup like this. If we are able to create offense over at least three lines it should be no problem to defeat the ducks. Franzen, Datsjuk, Bertuzzi Nyquist, Zetterberg, Brunner Cleary, Filppula, Eaves Abdelkader, Emmerton, Tootoo Kronwall, Lashoff Colaiacovo, Kindl DeKeyser, Smith PP1: Kronwall, De Keyser, Datsjuk, Zetterberg, Bertuzzi PP2: Colaiacovo, Kindl, Franzen, Filppula, Brunner Three nearly equal lines, one right handed shooter each and more skilled defensemen would help to create more offense over three lines and would also help the PP going. And please bring in Bert. At least his experience und presence would help the team to step up. He proved that he can be a huge factor right after returning from injurys. Plus he's exactly what Wings need. Another right handed sniper.
  22. It's hard to create offense without the support of the D. Ericsson and Quincey are always playing safety first but they produce giveaways though. They are terrible puck movers and handlers plus they seem to be afraid of the blue line. Kindl and Kronwall are the only ones who support their teammates regularly. Smith and DeKeyser are at least trying to do it.
  23. See Q's stats. 17 giveaways. That's too much for a low risk defensemen who's useless in the offense. Only 6 takeaways and 22 hits. Same with Ericsson. Does nothing for our offense but produced 24 giveaways. Only Kindl and Datsjuk, players who create a lot of offense produced more. I'm sorry but why are these guys still playin? They aren't 24 like Smith who also has terrible stats. I really know that stats don't tell everythin about a player but these numbers just underline what I saw from them this season.
  24. He's one of the reasons why Wings PP doesn't work and he's one of the reasons why Wings don't score.
  25. Problem is that he's a very limited player. Same problem with Ericsson. They create zero offense. Useless at the blue line. Quincey makes not many mistakes but is a little bit too lazy. We have better defensemen in our roster. Wanna see Kronwall/Lash, Kindl/DeKeyser, Smith/White or Colaiacovo.
