This is exactly right. Smith is where Kindl was two years ago. Then he has a game like tonight and you can see his potential. I think a lot of it is mental: Focus and Confidence

Ouellet looked legit tonight, and perhaps he is part of the reason Smith looked so good tonight.

Good 3rd Period. I don't know how you take Tatar out of the lineup. Defense stepped up big without Kronner and E. Best game I have seen Smith play... wow

Helm took and delivered hits in the 3rd... has a second gear he went to a couple times to speed past defenders... made some good steals, but missed some shots. Nyquist was the best skater on the ice. Also impressive: Pulkkinen (looked good for a small guy), Sheahan (stud), Sproul (he can skate), Jarnkrok (he can dangle), Jurco (getting better defensively)

With today's news of Helm coming back, as well as Eaves, in a couple weeks what do y'all think is gonna happen with the lineup? Tootoo has played well enough to keep his spot in the lineup so far. Glendening has impressed, but we can send him back to GR without going through waivers (which I have to assume we will do once Helm is back). If nobody else gets injured (and that is a moderately sized "if") who are we getting rid of, and how? I have to think that Sammy is on the bottom rung of the totem pole right now, but how do we get rid of him? Do you think we shop Tatar? I sure hope not, but where does he fit in the lineup? I would still rather have him in the lineup over Tootoo, and also have him on the 2nd PP over Cleary. Miller is playing well and looks good on the PK Bottom line, Nyquist is looking further and further from the Wings lineup.

I paid the $6.99 to watch the game online... wish I knew how to share it. Nyquist in the AHL is like Pavs in the NHL... he just skates circles around everyone. Helm looks fine

You simply haven't been watching games. He skates, back-checks, has tremendous vision, and had THREE more assists tonight... Alfie leads the team in assists, and is over a point per game... sorry

If he's flying with the team then it's a mild concussion and he will probably be out a week or two. If it was serious he would have been sent to the hospital for sure and would definitely not be allowed to fly right away.

Don't think he had anything to do with that play in particular. Lee Harvey Oswald killed Kennedy Disagree here as well. Thought Kindl played well for the most part and looked deft in our end. Thought he stepped up when Kronner went down AND ALSO, Mule did it all today. Finished shots, went down to block shots, finished checks... BRAVO. The hit on Kronner might have awaken the beast, but just looking at stats, through 8 games he has 5 points. If Mule finishes with 50 points this year, who is going upset?

He's going to be fine... he's responsible in the defensive 3rd and just needs some time to click in the offensive third. You can see that he is not on the same page with his wingers on offense, but his linemates have been changing as well. Winning is all that matters.

One thing that "might" help us in trading someone is that the new CBA allows for teams to pay a percentage of the contract (just like in MLB). I'd eat $2M of Sammy's contract if it meant we could trade him. Do you think a team would pay the other $1M?
