I would say Lidstrom's contract is fair, not a bargain. There's no question he is worth every penny he makes, but I think he is getting his fair market value from us, not less than his value.

They are both great players although Crosby is WAY younger, 19 to 28. I think they both do need to shoot more, but as far as their on-ice dominance, it is pretty comparable.

GREAT analysis, I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said. Great job of laying everything out. An interesting fact, Lidstrom is the only currently playing defenseman that has a Smythe under his belt. Pronger is also interestingly the only defenseman playing right now to have a Hart.

This is an interesting ranking by ESPN, it reanks all sports franchises in the 4 major sports by what they give back to the fans. Its based on 8 categories of ranking, 7 are fan polls (80,000 were polled) on things like Stadium Experience, Ownership, etc. The 8th is a statistical analysis comparing winning to ticket prices. The Wings are 18 out of 122. Our weak points are Affordability (understandable) and Stadium Experience (weakest). This doesn't surprise me at all as I've complained numerous time about attandance and atmosphere at the Joe. This shows other agree with me. Anyways, thought you might find this interesting. yeah my title might be better for the topic, so a merge would be best. But until then, I think its funny that a lot of fans agreed that our Stadium Experience is lacking. but our Ownership is top notch. Also, Toronto is lower than I expected

I didn't know it switched from ABC to ESPN, but as far as Im concerned, its the same network, they share ownsership like you said. So it really isnt like ESPN bought the rights to Monday Night Football, ABC just passed it over to ESPN

Has anyone else been absolutely DISGUSTED with the Red Wings attendance and atmosphere at the Joe this season? I know the tickets sell out, but when you watch the games on TV or attend them, half the seats are empty and the atmosphere is totally dead. This is a serious problem that annoys the s*** out of me. I would love to fill those empty spots and cheer like crazy for the wings. I seriously think our ACTUAL attendance has got to be one of the worst in the league right now. This is so apparent that Ron Mclean and Don Cherry have mentioned this on several occassions. Anyone who has been watching should have noticed an extreme contrast with the atmosphere at Calgary and Vancouver. They were full and rockin. The Joe: just dead. This is sad, just sad.
