Yes, you hit the nail on the head, that is EXACTLY what we do at Yost and it is the reason why Yost is the most feared rink for opposing teams to play in.
-
Oh c'mon, this is exactly the kind of stuff we do at Michigan games here at Yost to rattle the other team. It's just fans being obnoxious but thats what fans are supposed to do. This is not Disney on ice, these are the Stanley Cup Playoffs. If you don't want your children hearing bad language, don't bring them to a hockey game. Sorry if this is insensitive, but that is how I feel.

haha, how good might the Islanders be if they had Chara, Spezza, Jokinen, and Luongo, right now? Wow, those are some bad trades. I agree with the assessment: "...you lose all right to criticize anyone. Ever. About anything." That says it all, haha.

The motivational speech for the Red Wings
redwinger4747 replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
NOOOOOOO not the mighty ducks, ahhhhhh!!! Nothing could be further form how the game is actually played. Sorry but I just can't like these movies because Any Given Sunday resembles competitive hockey more than the mighty ducks. -
I am fairly confident that Z will step it up and get back to playing great. Having said that, the age-old question of who is better, Dats or Zetts can be completely put to rest: Datsyuk is a better overall player. I have never been more convinced of this than I am now. Datsyuk makes people around him better, more than anyone else in the league. Thats right, more than Ovechkin, more than Crosby, Datsyuk is the BEST at making his linemates better.

If we lose this series, will Holland be fired?
redwinger4747 replied to ShanahanMan's topic in General
NO! Neither Holland or Babcock should be fired, regardless of what happens. Holland has put together a more than adequate group of players and Babcock is a great coach. If we fail, its on the players, period. -
This doesn't bother me as much as it would have 2 months ago for one reason: JOHAN FRANZEN

What is wrong with you guys that think Downey should play over McCarty? The experience that McCarty brings, tons of playoff games, 3 cups and not to mention some big playoff goals at big times. Any Downey playoff goals come to mind? Or playoff experience? I'll tell you: Downey has 5 career playoff games, 0 pts. I don't care that McCarty is older now, simply the POSIBILITY that he could show a little of his past self is enough to put him in the lineup, period.

Sammy is not a 2nd line player, but c'mon, 40pts didn't happen by accident. We know his constant shots can be frustrating at times but seriously Sammy > Drake, Helm, Downey, or Hartigan and everybody knows it.
-
We have some options at forward for our Game 1 lineup, because of the injuries. I'll break it down: In for sure: Zetterberg Datsyuk Holmstrom Cleary Franzen Filppula Hudler Draper Out for sure: Kopeckey Maltby Doubtful: Samuelsson That means we have 4 spots for: Drake McCarty Hartigan Abdelkader Helm Meech (at forward) Downey So, who do you put in? I'd go with McCarty, Drake, Abdelkader, Hartigan. I love Downey's toughness but he just wont be able to keep up in the playoffs. McCarty brings too much of an X factor in my opinion to leave out. I want Hartigan's and Abdelkader's speed and I think Abdelkader will play hard as ever since he grew up a Red Wings fan. That is my lineup, what is yours?

hahaha nice work on the 360. Though i think a contest like this lends itself more to people who do really CRAZY s***, you know. Theming your Xbox is really cool, but not that crazy.
-
yes we all know McCarty will not likely score much, but I'd still want him on the 4th line.

(1) Detroit 4-1 over (8) Nashville (2) San Jose 4-2 over (7) Calgary (6) Colorado 4-3 over (3) Minnesota (4) Anaheim 4-2 over (5) Dallas EAST: (1) Montreal 4-1 over (8) Boston (2) Pittsburgh 4-1 over (7) Ottawa (3) Washington 4-2 over (6) Philadelphia (5) New York Rangers 4-2 over (4) New Jersey

Are you kidding? Datsyuk finished 4th in league scoring and is great defensively leading the league in takeaways. I think he has broken the top 10, and I'd say top 5 FOR SURE.

A player's country is the team that he represents in international play. So you are right to put Nabokov on this list because he represents Russia, but random Kazahkstan and Belarus players can't be consdered Russian. And yes, I would say Brett Hull is American just as Paul Statsny is American, though both were born in Canada. Thats why the term American-born or Russian-born is used if this is what someone means. Otherwise, nationality in the context of hockey is the country a player plays for. As for the list, its pretty solid, I can't say much about it, I might put Semin in place of Frolov. As for Datsyuk vs. Malkin, this is tough. I think both sides have a legitimate case. I would say they are very close offensively, I would give the nod to Datsyuk by a hair because of his defense and takeaways.

When are the Wild gunna get with the program and name Gaborik permanent Captain? It was so great to see the C on him, but this whole rotating captains has gone on long enough. Teams need a leader and Gaborik has been with the team the longest, is the best player, and plays his heart out every night. He should be captain, period.

We actually only did that once, game 5. Game 1: 4-1 DET Game 2: 3-1 DET Game 3: 3-2 CGY Game 4: 3-2 CGY Game 5: 5-1 DET Game 6: 2-1 DET (OT)

I just wanted to point out to everyone on its own thread that only THREE times in history, that is since 1924, has the Hart Trophy gone to a player whose team did not make the playoff: Al Rollins, Chicago Black Hawks - 1954 Andy Bathgate, New York Rangers - 1959 Mario Lemieux, Pittsburgh Penguins - 1988 Despite how well he's played, history shows that it is extremely difficult to win the MVP when you miss the playoffs. He could become the fourth to do it, but it will be hard. Personally, I would vote for Malkin unless the Caps make the playoffs. I just feel your team must make the playoffs. Probably not that fair but thats how I see it.

The most available??

Call me biased towards recent players, but I honestly believe Lidstrom should definitely be in the top 3. He will be remembered as the 2nd or 3rd greatest defenseman of all time. Soon to be 6 Norris Trophies, I bet 7-8 when he retires. 1. Howe 2. Yzerman 3. Lidstrom 4. Sawchuck 5. Lindsay 6. Delvecchio 7. Abel 8. Fedorov 9. Kelly 10. Ullman

HAHAHAHA MATT THAT IS AWESOME! I was totally fooled, and REALLY pissed. Nice work, Matt. Truly nice work.

ARE YOU F*CKING KIDDING ME?! this is a joke, right? If they do this, thats what the NHL will be, a joke. No other sport in North America does this because it is retarded.

Zetterberg-Datsyuk is the EXACT OPPOSiTE of Kobe-Shaq, nuff said.
-
Now that Franzen has emerged, our top-six forwards are pretty much undisputible as: Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Holmstrom, Franzen, Cleary, Filppula What should the lines look like? This is a very tough call, but i'll go with Holmstrom Datsyuk Filppula Franzen Zetterberg Cleary then Hudler Kopecky Samuelsson Maltby Draper Drake/McCarty Thoughts?
-
Its fun to hate players like this who aren't on the Red Wings, but this is probably exactly what Maltby says all game. So although I can dislike Perry for fun, he is nothing like a real goon like Tootoo, Pronger, or Simon.
