Looks like I don't have it despite being a Comcast subscriber. 276 is History Channel International. Bastards.
-
Considering there were only SIX in an entire season a couple years ago, I'll take it... Downey fought twice? In the Columbus game? First game I've missed in a very long while and I do have it Tivoed.

when Nick retires
-
Stillman is underrated but the reason he's not regarded as an elite player is because he isn't one. There's more to the game than stats. He scores in a secondary role on a deep offensive team, and does it well, but he's not remotely the best forward on his team.

Watching the Ottawa vs. Montreal Game Right Now

4 ENG already this year. He owns the empty cage. -
Time Warner C.I. not broadcasting DET/NSH Game?
Aeothe Kaear replied to NeverForgetMac25's topic in General
What a joke! Does anyone besides me find it at all absurd that it's those of us who have Comcast (aka the mega-conglomerate that LAUNCHED THE CHANNEL IN QUESTION) who can't get it? "Coming soon", but no date given, and NHL Network not currently available in Seattle. National TV my ass. -
No, I didn't mean Samuelsson (or I would've said "Unless you need someone to flip a limp 50 foot wrist shot with no traffic..." )
-
Babcock > Schneider Well, unless you need someone to rip a slap shot high and wide...
-
Surely he's being told to shoot more. So he's started taking a bunch more of those Samuelsson-esque shots (i.e., 40+ foot wrist shots with no traffic), but remains a pass-first player when he's actually in the prime scoring areas, and that's what needs to change. He gets himself in position to use that nice wrister and then forces a pass instead...

Why do we always have problems with the ducks?
Aeothe Kaear replied to WINGS TILL DEATH's topic in General
Anaheim scored like half their goals in that series by crashing the net, scoring on rebounds, muscling Dom into the net, etc. A crease-clearing defenseman or two would go a long way towards containing the point-blank chances generated by all those big forwards. Unfortunately, instead of taking steps in that direction, they let Markov walk and replaced him with nobody. Wrong way to go. -
Cool idea, wonder how they'll control the slip-and-fall-on-your-ass factor though...
-
I thought he was impressive, actually, but no need to leave your potential franchise guy in to be shelled repeatedly when he's still learning the game at the NHL level. Edit: guess I should read slower, as the above post says essentially the same thing, oh well.
-
Campbell's the one that jumps out to me. 9 points in 4 games for a defenseman ain't bad.
-
Yeah, and one of them is available, and the other isn't. I hope he returns.
-
If Hossa is an impending UFA that won't re-up with Atlanta, then they will not get a player of D or Z's caliber in return.
-
Marian Hossa although the price would probably be ridiculous.
-
Well, there are an odd number of teams in each conference, so if everyone opens against a different team (aside from the London games), there has to be one interconference game.
-
I dunno, I think he may be realizing he's not going to get the huge payday he might've been anticipating. Still hoping he re-ups in Detroit.
-
I don't know if I'd go that far, but the goal he scored to tie Game 2 of the 1998 SCF is still one of my all-time favorites. So clutch!

Sopel and another veteran d-man coming to camp
Aeothe Kaear replied to Son of a Wing's topic in General
Sopel sucks. Can't play defense. Markov is a much better player. -
[has a nice chuckle at the thought of Rob Neidermayer being a top six forward]
-
No way they offered $1.5m, that would just be a slap in the face after a good season making $2.5m...
-
I'd love to have him too, but that still doesn't make him top 30 in the NHL defensively.
-
No way that Phaneuf is top 30 defensively in the NHL. He's a great hitter but that's not all there is to playing D. I would, however, put Andrei Markov in that grouping.

I haven't played organized puck in years but I got a message out of the blue yesterday. The UW men's coach wants to lure me onto the team. I'm hellishly busy as a grad student and think I'm going to have to decline because I don't have the time to be an effective player, but I dunno, I'm still young enough (26) to kick some ass.
