Should we start rooting for Florida to tank?
Aeothe Kaear replied to YoungGuns1340's topic in General
Conklin played exactly six minutes, his only career playoff experience. He promptly wilted under the pressure and flushed away Game 1 of the Finals. Benched, and Markkanen came in and played well. So much for our "experienced/veteran backup", huh? -
How could you forget that disastrous series in 1999? The Wings had Colorado circling the drain, even their media thought it was over and wrote hilarious articles like this, Yzerman was ripping it up, and then it all went horribly wrong.

Osgood/Conklin same as last years Hasek/Osgood
Aeothe Kaear replied to Greatness=PavelDatsyuk's topic in General
The only difference is the absence of the angry mob hating on Osgood like Hasek received last year. -
This made me instantly picture that scene in Pollock where he's riding the bike...

Samuelsson doesn't suck at all and I don't want him to GTFO or anything

What the hell kind of girl's name is Emerson, anyway? -
Except enforcers don't make hockey less enjoyable

Dunno, but I'm game if we can make it happen. Didn't realize there were so many of us western WA types...

I was thinking of making this trip myself this season, but I think both games are in November, when I may not be able to go.

Well, it seemed like it at the time. They had already blown a 2-0 lead in that game despite controlling play, and he scored his 400th on a breakaway to put them up 3-2 in the 3rd. Everything was roses. Except then Joseph gave up another stinker to tie the game and then got beaten on an odd man rush in OT. #1 seed lost, and a date with Anaheim instead.

Fedorov's 400th was the go-ahead goal in Chicago in the last game of the 2003 regular season, before Cujo choked it away. Bad memories of delicate Eric Daze wrist shots floating into the net in slow motion...

Anyone else interested in the Jackets' offseason?
Aeothe Kaear replied to hckypete96's topic in General
Hainsey will walk unless they pay him more than that. Redden's stock is way down and most Sens fans just want rid of him, so I don't necessarily pulling in that kind of scratch. -
The Red Wings had their opportunity to win it at home... that's really all you can ask for. 2-3-2 sucks. If the team with the supposed advantage drops either of the first two at home, they can end up losing the series without playing another game in their own building. That's crap.

Holy s***, a reasonable contract? Weird.

My all-time favorite Onion piece: http://www.theonion.com/content/node/28874 (They've figured me out! ) -
Great call with Doug Brown. That may be my favorite goal of all time. Loved that guy.

All three should, perhaps only Drake does. Love the Drake (and Hasek for that matter), but I think it's time.

I work mostly with brachiopods and bivalve molluscs, but my advisor is an expert on cephalopods so I know a thing or two. Unfortunately, I don't think I can quit my program and make it to Game 5 in time.

Pens again bemoan lack of obstruction calls
Aeothe Kaear replied to 10 Minute Misconduct's topic in General
I'd love to see their official championship video if, god forbid, the Pens should come back and win this series. "Down 2 games to none and yet to score a goal, Coach Michel Therrien complained long and hard about obstruction and how many extra ticky-tack penalties he felt should be called on Detroit. Even after winning Game 3, he kept up the whining offensive, and the results speak for themselves..." -
No team that employs Hal Gill gets to sanctimoniously whine about obstruction.

Even now I don't think anyone gives a crap. I'm a graduate student, so I'm on the UW campus every day. There are 50,000 some college-agers around here, and you can't help but overhear dozens of conversations a day. I have never once heard one single word about the Sonics or pro basketball. Can probably count on one hand the number of times I've seen someone wearing a jersey/t-shirt. You don't see bumper stickers or ads anywhere. There is no buzz. Anything you read about people being upset about this is a vanishingly tiny but (apparently) vocal minority.

The Mariners get tons of love too, but it is pretty much just those two. You'd never know there was pro basketball around here.
