injured Abby Out 2 Weeks with partially separated shoulder
Desert Rat replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
Ok I think most fans have that player that they really don't like much whether it be Franzen, Lilja, Lang etc. Abdelkader along with Miller are mine. It's my fault because when Abs black aced it up so well in the playoffs I put it in my mind that he could be our next Mcarty. When that never happened I started disliking him. I (we) have really seen a big step forward this year especially in the clutch department, an area where I think he has always lacked in my opinion. So in other words yeah, I hope he gets back soon. -
Dang guys, remember when it seemed impossible to pot 3 goals? This is great!! It would be freakin awesome to keep this streak alive for a while.

I'm that douchey guy having lunch with my wife at a restaurant glued to my phone on the GDT. She's a damn saint for puttin up with it. So thanks for the details guys!! So other than Kindl and E we are looking good out there?
-
Grind them out is a good way to get it done, racing them go 5 is definitely not the way to get a W in this one.

Oh man Grimes, I actually forgot just how much I hate Bettman. I give a lot of credit to Chelios and Neely there for not being robots like we're used to. I read Chris's book and thought it was ok. I didn't really feel he was out of line with his Shanahan take. Also I did especially like his Bowman stories.

Redmond is my guy. I really enjoy the way he can see plays develop before they happen. His constant berating of the refs used to bother me (which he has toned down) but the refs are truly awful and inconsistent. Make up calls should not exist, call a penalty if it's a penalty. -

Beautiful moment there. Definately some nice solidarity. -
Too funny, fake but funny. The part where Franzen couldn't figure out how to take his mouth guard out cracked me up,

He scored like 19 seconds in! Man I'm rooting for him to be good. We need some return on this investment. -
Maybe the homerism in me is shining through but I feel the 90's are when the league finally had non Swiss cheese goaltending and he was one of the top players during that time. I believe Scotty called Sergei the top player he coached due to versatility but that's a fuzzy recollection so don't hold me to that I'm a noob here lol!
-
He led the 90's in playoff scoring which had some incredible wars and amazing players so I think he is at least top five all time. Im sure numbers on other greats could prove me wrong though.
-
I think he's been good this year (Mule)

I think Fedorov was not equal but superior to Forsberg. In addition to other points made about Scotty using him as a d-man etc, (which Gretzky marveled at) the guy simply brought it come playoff time. Even in series where we were upset or beaten soundly he seemed to never really slump completely in my opinion. If the points weren't racking up he was slicing through neutral zone traps, back checking and maintaining incredible possession in ways I don't think Forsberg did quite as well. Feds still had nice regular seasons even though I just read in Mark Howe's book that the only season he ever brought his A game every night was 94'. Playoffs though he was probably top five ever IMHO I think he was Smythe worthy for all 3 cups. First Freakin Ballot.

The kids really takin over these last two games! I really want Z to pot a couple against the Leafs, he's due.
-
So was that an audition by buy big Buff? Would you guys want him?

Late to the party but man is Tats red hot! Every year we have a theme, one year can't win at home another set home win streak. This year it's come from behind games. Oh well keeps it exciting!

THN: 30 NHL teams, 30 I-never-saw-this-coming starts for players
Desert Rat replied to e_prime's topic in General
We really need those kids to be chipping in with points consistently come playoff time. The twins and Goose can't be our only scoring threats. My favorite thing about Nyquist is that he's so opportune because he really attacks the net and gets to the dirty areas! Pretty impressive for a guy his size. -
Yeah those reasons seem pretty infuriating.... and funny! It will be interesting to see Luke in a 7 game series really taking the opposition off their games. I know the Eurotwins making incredible plays is nothing new but I don't think the plays they made tonight got enough love. I mean that sequence where Z knocked the pass out of the air to spring Datsyuk so he could hypnotize 4 Caps with the soccer kick/dekes then the buttery drop pass to Abs was insane! I wish I could've heard Ken and Mick call that one!

Hey everyone! I'm a long time lurker coming out of the shadows. Strangely enough my first post is to ask if someone can explain what exactly Luke Glendening does to agitate so well? Does he seem to chirp a lot or is it because he's like white on rice against other teams stars? Usually I would just watch the guy but my crazy schedule this year so far has me listening to most of the games on radio and then catching the highlights. Oh yeah and following the GDT helps a lot too. Thanks I've been wondering about this.
