WCF : (3) Chicago Blackhawks vs. (1) Anaheim Ducks

I think the Wings are one of the best teams in the league at ripping the shot over or wide of the net. I wonder if there will be Corsi stats on this in the future. Lol -

I believe the winner of the Ducks-Hawks series will win the Cup. I don't see the Rangers or Tampa as being clear cut favourites. -
I think it depends on the team. Which players are drafted and developed by the Gm there compared to the one who took over. Look at the hawks. Their core group was built by Dale Talon. He drafted Toews, Kane, Keith, Seabrook. He traded for Sharp. He signed Hossa. Stan Bowman is still riding Talons team. Bowman has done a good job keeping solid depth to replace guys he lost to stay under the cap I.e. Ladd, Byfuglien. But the core of that team is all Dale Talon. The Wings team which won in 1997 and 1998 was essentially built by Bryan Murray starting with the infamous 89 draft when he selected Fedorov, Lidstrom and Konstantinov. Its tough to determine which Gms get credit for what. Anyone can interpret one way or the other.

I really want to see what Mantha can do being healthy with a full training camp under his belt. -
I give Holland credit as GM for the 2002 and 2008 cup winning teams. He fully took over in 1998 for Bowman as full time GM. But it was Scottys team. He brought in Vernon and Larionov and Fetisov and pushed for the Shanahan trade. He brought in Maltby and brought back Kocur. Rouse and Macoun as well. Kenny traded for Hasek and that was a big move for the 2002 cup win. Kenny has done a great job keeping the Red Wings on or near the top for almost 20 years now. He must get credit for this. Pre salary cap as well as post salary cap he's succeeded whereas most Gms have failed. The Wings gave not really been a legit cup threat since 2009. He has made mistakes. Lowballing Hossa was a big one. His drafting record has been great with the help of Hakan Andersson of course. I'd like to see him a bit more aggressive but he tried hard to get Suter and he went to Minny. Holland deserves credit but needs to take blame too. Overall he has done a great job but has blundered along the way. 20 years on the job, anyone will screw up every now and then. My only worry is if he's become too complacent with all the Cup wins. Does he have that burning desire to win Cups anymore? Or is his goal just to make the playoffs each season? Bottom line for me....Kenny gets big credit and big blame.

Man I thought the Ducks were done after the Toews goal. Nice to see the Ducks prevail. -

Hawks have been lucky a lot it seems. However that's just hockey. The Wings had their share over the years. Remember 1998 vs the Caps....Esa Tikkanen missing a wide open net...Wings come back and Drapes scores in OT. -
Back in Gretzkys Oilers hay day they didn't back check because they had the puck all the time. They scored 446 goals in 80 games one season. Lol. However come playoff time the oilers did back check more. I recall Sather hiring Roger Nielson to break down the oilers opponents video tape. Those Oilers teams were unreal. Scoring was so easy for them. Different era but still...they were fun to watch.

I think the hawks 2 wins may gave helped the Ducks win the series. A break here or there and the Ducks could have swept the series. I think Boudreau has to be telling his team "hey look how hard it's been for them to beat us". I think it's a case of the Hawks winning a couple of battles but the Ducks are winning the war. I recall back in 2002,when the Wings were playing the Avs in the conference final. The Avs were up 3 games to 2 but were going with 2 lines and 3 d basically. They ran out of gas and the Wings won in 7 which included the infamous game 7 7-0 blow out. I see the hawks top 4 d suffering the same fate in this series. -
Looks like the Griffins have shaken the rust off!

I like the Ducks to win tonight. Hawks take game 6. Ducks win game 7. Hawks top 4 dmen have to be wearing down with the 5 overtimes. It's been a great series to watch. The Hawks resiliency reminds me of the Wings during their Cup runs. -
The fact that Ovie has a legit shot at catching Gretzky is amazing in itself.
-
He has to wait until he's 28 to go play in the KHL. Lol
-
I wonder if the leafs will sign Dan Cleary and name him captain? Lol
-
Keep Howard and hope he regains his pre-injury form and then trade him when his value increases.
-
They also talked about how Blash will likely draw a line in the sand at training camp so the players don't think that he's a players coach and can take advantage of him. Kenny has some work to do this summer. Too many bodies and not enough spots. I think Weiss is done but he might get another shot with Blash. His contract is too toxic to buy out and he has little value in the trade market unless Kenny eats some salary. I think kindl will be traded for a draft pick.
-
In the last episode Kevin Allen mentioned that he believes Kenny will try hard to sign Green.
-
It's a great show for any wings fan. The only problem is Art Regner always sounds like he's drank 20 cups of coffee before each show. Kevin Allen seems like he's looking out the window all the time. All kidding aside I really do enjoy it. Lol

Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?
Helmethead replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Unless we can add a player such as Yandle, I believe Kenny should stand pat on Monday. I like the look of next season's team even more than the current one. I think Weiss needs to be traded this summer. Now that he's healthy and has better value it makes no sense to pay him 5 mil playing on the 3rd or 4th line. Plus we need to make room for Pulkkinen. I'd like to see something like this for next season... Tatar/Datsyuk/Helm Nyquist/Zetterberg/Abdelkader Jurco/Sheahan/Pulkkinen Miller/Glendenning/Callahan Andersson/Ferraro Kronwall/Ericsson Quincey/Dekeyser Smith/Marchenko Ouellette Howard/Mrazek
