I've always thought you need both. Keith and Toews. Doughty and Kopitar. These are the most recent examples. In 2006, the Canes won the Cup with no #1 dman. They had Staal as the #1 centre. The Rangers have lacked the #1 centre and I believe it is the main reason they have not won the Cup the past few years. Excellent blueline and a stud #1 goalie but no Cup. Arguments can be made for which is more important but I still believe you need both to win a Cup.

We traded Greg Johnson to the Pens to get Sandstrom. He didn't score much for the Wings but Bowman liked his solid 2 way game.

He's definitely been jonesing for Kenny to sign Franson for awhile now. I recall him having Franson on the Wings like he was a regular player in multiple lineup scenarios. I guess we all do this from time to time with players we'd like to see become Red Wings.

Others can chime in here but my memory tells me Ward was always in Bowman's doghouse it seemed.

Bowman hated Ward. He was always in his doghouse. Mironov and Macoun were acquired at the trade deadline. Mironov was benched after he was at fault for a game winning goal in the series versus the Blues, so Macoun took his place and played with Rouse the rest of the playoffs.

I've always seen Duncan Keith as a very talented turd. He was awesome for the Hawks in the most recent Cup run. I still think he's a turd, but I'd take him on the Wings in a heart beat. I always said the same of Chelios when he was a Hab and later a Hawk.

Yeah. Jimmy is the best goalie in the league. He would have won the Vezina last season if he wasn't injured. Mrazek for a 6th round pick is what I'm thinking. He is too inconsistent. Jimmy has demonstrated years of dominance and playoff supremacy. Mrazek is not good enough to steal the starting job away from Jimmy. Trade him now before his value decreases and the rest of the NHL realizes how much he sucks.
