Yes, sir. Stevie Y became an awesome player when that happened. I liked the 2nd half of his career a lot more than the first half. He was really tough to match up against for the other team.

Did not concentrate on his defensive responsibilities as much as the team needed him to, if that works better for you. I'm not calling him lazy by any means.

Quebec Junior AA Player ARRESTED on ice for fight with official
Bill Berzeench replied to Jersey Wing's topic in General
Sonce when did spitting become an arrestable offence? -
Yzerman floated for 11 years and lit it up. Then he almost got traded. Then he committed to playing defense and became a hero.

Lets just discuss forwards. Point noted and agreed to on all players. Crosby is the best player in the game today. We could all agree to that, right? I think we could all also agree to Ovi being #2. Those 2 are premier players. I think where you and I disagree is what happens next. I think Toews slots in at the top of the next tier which includes Datsyuk, Bergeron, Benn, Malkin, Kane, and Kopitar. I think you see him slotting in at the top of tier 3 with the Zetterbergs and Pavelskis of the NHL. This just isn't true, though. He gets paid top dollar and rated highly because he's the next best thing to Sid the Kid.

Ken Holland said he wasnt trading Howard. So Ken Holland is my answer.

The Edmonton Oiler Rule: When any team drafts within the first 3 picks, they will automatically be placed 28, 29, 30 the following year, 25, 26, 27 the year after that, and finally 22, 23, 24 the year after that. After 3 years of ineligibility for lottery consideration, they can regain lottery consideration status. Edmonton is an embarassment right now and should not be in the condition they are in after drafting 4 number 1s in the last 6 years. The league needs to put a stop to it and make it impossible for the league's top talent to circle the drain in an environment that isn't recovering. At what point does the NHL step in and say "You're done, Edmonton. Get better, or get out."?

You cant keep a 5.25 million dollar back up. U just cant.

There are Crosby and Ovechkin. Then there are Kopitar, Bergeron, Toews. So you are saying that he's not in the generational talent category? I would agree with that.
-
Ha ha ha ha. Discrediting Toews is a must for you guys. The guy is good. Just give him his due.

I forgot about Emmerton. I wonder how he's doing. Datsyuk is awesome. I just think people should be allowed to recognize talent on other teams, as well.
-
You are wrong about Frk. He's fast. Not Larkin fast, but definitely Glendening fast. And he's getting bigger and stronger. He's 200 lbs now. Will be 205 next year, which is where we need our other Euro softy trio to be.
-
Save this for halfway thru next season. You're going to see him in preseason next year and be surprised. Then after he has 15 goals thru 22 games in GR next year and gets called up, you're going to eat your crow hard. The guy has turned it around big time. Watch the Grifs games and you will see.

Check our scoring stats and our place in the standings if you're unsure about why changes are necessary. And it's Feb. 24. 5 days left for our genius GM to do something.
-
Are you serious? You honestly value points more than Stanley Cups? There's a reason Toews makes 10.5 million a year and Datsyuk makes 7. Chicago isnt asking their captain to win art ross trophies. They just want Stanley Cups. And Toews is delivering them.
-
Sorry. I realize it skews the argument, but how else are we going to do it? Someone said "in their primes", so i figured all we could use as comparisons for that measure are stats up to age 27. If we go with total careers, Toews might end up with 5 or 6 more cups, 1 or 2 more selkes, 100-200 more points, 3 or 4 more gold medals, etc etc etc than Datsyuk. I'm not Nostradomus, but it's looking like Toews is a sure fire Hall of Famer much like Stevie Y. Datsyuk is probably going to have to play a few more years to solidify his case for the HHOF.

Our pp has problems because we do not have a good right handed player. Green is not the guy we wanted him to be at the point, either. The opponent has figured out that they can cheat all their coverage to one side of the ice. The puck is going to go there no matter what. It reminds me of 3rd grade basketball where your opponent has a point guard who can only dribble with his right hand. Stick a kid on him and overplay his right hand 75% and game over. Same with our pp.

That 3rd line is an enormous liability. Tatar and Richards are terrible together. I know it's not popular (yet), but I'd like to see Frk and Mantha called up. Mantha-Larkin-Frk Jurco-Datsyuk-Zetterberg Abdelkader-Sheahan-Nyquist Athanasiou-Helm-Glendening Tatar and Richards have been so piss poor over the last 10 games. I like Tatar, but he needs to either take that next step and become a defensively responsible player, or he needs to be replaced. Do as Datsyuk does should be his motto.
-
Guys, If you havent picked up a streamsmart yet, then do it. I've been watching all the Grifs games, and I can tell you with certainty that Frk will be a better NHLer than Tatar and Nyquist. He plays with more speed and has a really nice shot from all over the ice. Tatar and Nyquist are good from 20 feet in. Pulkkinen is good from 20 feet out. Frk is good inside the blue line. He's faster and bigger than Nyquist, Tatar, and Pulks. Mantha and Frk are a couple guys to be excited about. They arent Larkin good, but they're still good.

If Chicago wins it again this year, this debate is over.
