Without a better national tv deal, the NHL isnt even on the radar with those other sports. I would not consider the NHL one of the top 5 major pro sports in the US. They've got a long ways to go to repair the lockout damage. Hockey has always been a niche sport, but to not have it on national tv damages the game and prevents those who dont normally watch from ever seeing a game. My top 5: NFL NASCAR MLB NBA PGA (golf)

Blah blah Datsyuk....do it in the playoffs Pavel and silence your real critics. His disappearing act in the postseason has left a lot to be desired. I wish Kenny would have traded him before he walks UFA this summer. That's all I'm going to say about Pavel.

His motor skills are damaged and not repairable to a normal level and he has physical problems with walking. I dont know the exact diagnosis but its safe to say he's not playing hockey ever again. At least he made it out of the accident alive

One more thing about Steve Yzerman, I cried all 3 times he was handed Lord Stanley's Cup. He epitomizes what Detroit Red Wing hockey is all about. I know for generations past they have Howe and co. But for our generation, we have Steve Yzerman. And everything I associate with this team starts with The Captain.

Steve Yzerman is the greatest Captain to ever lace em up. You dont need to argue on Steve's behalf. Anyone who knows anything about hockey respects the hell out of Steve Yzerman

They were never leaving the Burgh. That was my stance from day 1. That is a very good hockey city. I've been to 3 games now in the Igloo. Those fans support that team

Bertuzzi is 6'3" 245 lbs. Hank doesnt weigh 200 with his gear on. There is no comparison between the physicality of these two players.

its the same as when we got Chelios, you hate the guy when he is on another team, but LOVE him when he is your own. Bertuzzi is going to make a GREAT Red Wing if we can get him healthy. Now we can roll 2 lines with physical forwards, Holmstrom on #1 and Bertuzzi on #2
