    Super Bowl XL

Lofa doesnt play DB. He is a linebacker. We heard the same thing about the Colts and their offense and defense. The Colts had ZERO pass interference calls on them all year and we torched them through the air in Indy. The left side of Seattle's OL is nice. Two words for Seattle. They better learn these and watch more game tape. ZONE BLITZ Seattle has a great offensive football team. But who have they played this year that played physical, smashmouth football? Dallas, Jacksonville and Washington. They played the Jags way back in week one and they played a beat up Redskin team 2 weeks ago. They've seen one 3-4 defense all year long at Dallas. And Dallas gave that game away. Our DC is going to have some new schemes that Holmgren and company have never seen come XL, they don't call LeBeau the master of disguise for nothing. I would never underestimate an opponent at any given time. I just dont think they are going to be able to match the physicality with which Steeler football is associated with. As long as we come out and execute our gameplan, win the turnover battle and don't have any long returns on ST I'll like the result. 12 days and ticking HERE WE GO!

1/24 GDT: Nashville Predators at Red Wings

I have no problem with the game starting 1-0 Nashville considering what happened in THAT game. On a clean slate, the boys better come out and jump on the puck and get the lead. We play a hell of a lot better hockey with the lead than without. It also allows teams to play more defensive, to protect the lead and then jump on any turnovers and opportunities they get offensively. We just are not a great come from behind team. The boys need to come out and show Nashville who owns the Central. GO WINGS

    Super Bowl XL

We're winning these games on the golden arm of Ben Roethlisberger. Our running game has been bottled up by 8 man fronts and blitzing safeties the past 2 weeks. I sure hope Seattle plays the same as Denver and Indy did. Don't underestimate your running game. Bettis has been totally unstoppable in short-yardage situations. As the Bengals, Colts, and Broncos all found out, third-and-short or first-and-goal has been lights out. That's a huge advantage. If Seattle plays to stop the pass, we will pulverize them up front with Fast Willie and Jerome. Teams stack the line v the run because we couldnt win games with Tommy Maddox at QB. He made too many mistakes. Now that we have a legit QB, teams are getting burned stacking the line. Pick your poison. We'll beat you on the ground.....and in the air. I think Seattle is in a world of s**t. We've allowed 1 100 yard rusher over 32 games including the playoffs. Teams dont run the ball on us at all. We shut the run down and force them to beat us with the pass. This Steeler secondary isnt the same secondary that got burned all over the field just a season ago. We're revamped and we've got the wildest bad ass in the NFL running rampant in our secondary. 13 days and ticking. Time can't go any slower for us. I'm well beyond the 24 hour celebration rule. I want to see Coach Cowher hand the VL trophy over to Mr. Rooney. One For The Thumb!

    nfl free agents

I've seen this before but forget where. There are some BIG name free agents hitting the market this offseason. If we didnt have another game to prep for I'd be all fired up for the draft and offseason, but we've got to handle business and win one for the thumb. RIDE ON

Read in the PPG that we as the home team get our choice of what jersey we wear. I'm guessing they go with the lucky road whites.

Very strange. We need TB as our honorary captain at XL. He needs to rub some of that SB magic off on Big Ben.......times 4

and on super bowl sunday, the steelers will be wearing their black home jerseys. Really? We should be wearing white as a road team in an NFC building

    Super Bowl XL

Seattle isnt putting 28 on our D. Indy couldnt do it, Denver couldnt do it, Cincy couldnt do it (except for that abortion of a game back in Dec). Too early to predict a score. Seattle has a great offense, but they dont scare me a bit. Who ride? WE RIDE!!!

The wheels on the Bus go round and round.......to Detroit City. Get ready for a Steeler Nation invasion. I think I'm going to have to sit this one out. I have a commitment Feb 1 - Feb 4 that keeps me tied up. Otherwise I'd sell off anything I could find to get a ticket and find my way into Detroit City. I hope the Sea Chickens gameplan for us like the last 3 suckers have, stop the run, put the ball in Big Ben's hand. I like our chances. Remember this, the good guys wear black. HERE WE GO!

I HATE Broncos and Avs fans. There will be a BUS-load of Steeler fans in Denver. I looked into tickets but I have too much going on to get my butt to Denver this weekend, not to mention the $500 plus average ticket price. HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO

Our backup QB is Charlie Batch right now. He started and won at Green Bay for us. I believe he broke his thumb in the Cleveland game he also started and won for us. We lose that game and we miss the playoffs. I have confidence in Charlie but if we have to bring in Maddox as our emergency QB we're f***ed. Maddox hasn't been the same since he got whacked v the Titans a few years ago. We lost the game at the Ravens with Maddox as our starter and Antwan Randle El as our 2nd string QB.

    NFL Playoffs

The Colts sure as hell didnt deserve to win the game. They got mauled by a better team. The Colts didnt deserve to lose by 3. It should have been a much wider spread. Thank the refs for making it close. I hate to agree with you, but its the truth. The Steelers outplayed the colts from the opening kickoff. Steelers should have won the game by 2 touchdowns. Not sure however if that call was the WORST call in pro sports history. The "no goal" cup winning goal by Brett Hull over the Buffalo Sabres or the Miami "pass interference" call in overtime over Ohio State....those were all worst calls. The call would have been much much worse had the Steelers lost that game....er, the refs won the game for the Colts (sorry gowingsgo). I don't see how Denver can stop the Steelers...or any team for that matter. The Steelers have the playoff experience to win it all. They are on a huge roll, winning 6 straight I believe, and playing better than any team right now. The Lions are going to have to wait a long time before they can announce Russ Grimm as their new head coach. Steelers win Super Bowl XL! Oh by the way, now that I have offically put my stamp on what team will win the Super Bowl.....you can now take all of your money and bet it against my pick. My picks are NEVER right. (sorry gowingsgo) We're 1-4 in AFCCG over the past 12 years. We need to get to XL first and then win THAT game before anyone gets crowned a champion. The Steelers are easily a 13 win team this year with a throw away game v the Jags (Maddox) and v the Ravens (Maddox). You could also make the argument that we beat the Bungles if Big Ben is healthy for that game but we won the rubber match. The Bungles can have their AFC North title. Each of those 4 losses has been the result of turnovers. 2 v the Patriots. The loss v the Broncos in 97 stings because we had 3 INTs in the 4th quarter, all in the red zone with the chance to win that game. The loss to San Diego in 94 hurts, but we probably would have been killed by San Fran in the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl loss hurts of course, because we outplayed Dallas and had to errant throws land in the lap of Brown that led to key Dallas points. Thats why the Bettis fumble yesterday was so painful to watch. It conjured up some bad memories. We're going up against a QB known as a gambler. One who likes to try and take the game into his own hands, and he has been known to make big mistakes. We're going to rattle Jake the Fake. I guarantee you he gets whacked a few times. We'll need another great gameplan from Whisenhunt, LeBeau and Cowher and we'll need flawless execution to beat the Broncos at home. I'd rather have this game on the road than at home. Again, we're 1-4 in home AFCCG. The Steelers went 7-1 on the road last year. We were 6-2 on the road this year. Our road record is better than our home record. The one loss last year was the game Maddox was injured v the Ravens and started the Ben Roethlisberger era. The two losses this year were v the Colts and the Ravens again, with Maddox starting at Baltimore. And there will be an invasion of Steeler fans at Invesco Field. I was looking at tickets on ebay today but I would have a hard time convincing my wife to let me go at those prices. I like our chances. This team is on a mission. We've been so close before. Its time we close one of these damn things out and play for the title.

Just for the record and then I'm done with this BS call. Worst call in sports I've ever witnessed, bar none. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs05/n...tory?id=2294309 At least they have the stones to admit they got it wrong. It wouldnt have helped had the Colts won the game though.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Denkinger is just one... The greatest non-call was the push-off Jordan did in the playoffs against I forgot which team. You know for a fact that they are going to jump on the bandwaggon. That was a blatant push off. I asked B-Russ about that one and he did say he got pushed pretty good. I'll give you that one. I coached with Bryon for two summers. Good guy. We all know Jordan had his own set of rules though. There is even a book on it

Bettis is actually our closer. The tougher task is stopping Fast Willie, 4.23 40 speed. But the true keys to our game is always tough defense and now with a real QB at the helm, the play of Ben Roethlisberger. This guy is a legend in the making in his 2nd season. I have to give props to our special teams. They have been great for us during our current win streak. If we pull out the next 2 he'll be spoken of for generations, much like Franco Harris has been with The Immaculate Reception, we now have The Tackle.

    NFL Playoffs

No, but we damn near did lose courtesy of that call and it allowing the Colts to make a game of what was otherwise a dismantling of the vaunted Colts offense. I stand by my statement. I have not seen a worse call in a game in my life. Polamalu rolled on the ground with his hands on the ball, both his knees were down and then when he stands up he knocks the ball out with his knee. Just another example of the league trying to push forward its favorite step-child at the moment. Worst call before this one was the phantom foul on Scottie Pippen v the Knicks in the 05' NBA playoffs that gave the Knicks 3 free throws and the game. I dont want to see any of the media whores trying to jump aboard our black and gold Bus as we head into Denver for a chance to go to Super Bowl XL, a most fitting title in the hometown of our FAT BACK. I'd be very concerned if my team's QB was named Jake The Fake going into Sunday.

On a sad note, sucks to see my friend and ex basketball teammate DeShaun Foster go down with a broken ankle. I was pulling for him to get his shot as a starter. I dont think he can come back from that by Feb 5 if they win at Seattle. Really a shame for a good guy.

    NFL Playoffs

Yesterday was a great day for the Steeler Nation. We played Steeler football, dominated the #1 team in the league from start to finish, overcame two turnovers AND the WORST CALL IN THE HISTORY OF PROFESSIONAL SPORTS to beat the media and NFL's wet dream team. I'm very bitter that the score of the game doesn't indicate how well our defense played against Manning. We suffocated the Colts defensively. Save for the NFL trying to cheat the Steelers out of a win by overturning an interception and then the wild finish, this game was what the NFL is all about. Pittsburgh Style. Next stop on the Bus trip, Denver. The best part about this yesterday.... http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06016/638853.stm Gold in a sea of blue Despite the Colts' best efforts to keep tickets out of the hands of Steelers fans, thousands were scattered around the RCA Dome waving their Terrible Towels. They also made themselves heard, even though outnumbered, as the Steelers took an early lead. "Here we go, Steelers, here we go," resounded off the Teflon-coated dome ceiling. Ironically, they may even have caused a false start penalty by the home team when the Colts lined up for a two-point conversion. "I heard them. I was talking to them," cornerback Ike Taylor said. "Man, those Steelers fans are everywhere. I don't know where they're coming from, but they're everywhere." Ben Roethlisberger also noted the fans in explaining why the Steelers, who are 8-2 away from Heinz Field, play so well on the road: "Everybody's against you and all we have is us and that's what makes this team so strong. We've done a great job of that all year. We could hear our fans out there. They're awesome."

that hit was clearly clean. It's just one of those things. The bengals will be back. They got the core of a championship team. You cant truly say that can you? Their defense was the worst of all 12 teams in the playoffs. The Pittsburgh Steelers shredded them passing the ball with our two best receivers have a combined 25 yards receiving. They got gashed all year long on defense. Their only hope was to get into shootouts and hope like hell for turnovers. They did this well, but with the rewards of winning your division come the spoils of having a difficult schedule the following season.
